The bus interface shows the card in pciex16/x8_1 but no information shows for GOP/VBIOS. I was told card is uefi compatible. Is this a bios switch issue?? Tried switching but no resolution. Part number is p4 3975 kr

I'm not quite sure what your asking and you didn't give me a lot of information.  If you could tell me your motherboard model that would be a good start.  But from what your saying I would suggest using GPU-Z and that should show your VBIOS, if it doesn't then there is an issue with the card.  You can find the download link below and the maker is TechPowerUp,  its a great program, fun to look at and its popular.  You can also even save your current VBIOS and flash in another one if that's your goal.  Keep in mind that EVGA does not void warranty's for VBIOS flashing as long as you can send the RMA back with the original VBIOS.

Also keep in mind that your PCI-E link width will stay at low width when not under load to save power. You need to load up a game or benchmark in order for the PCI-E link width to jump up to its full performance state.

The motherboard I am using is the Asus Maximus VIII hero. Within that bios under tools there is a heading that is suppose to show GOP/Vbios information for cards that are uefi supported but the information there is blank and says "select a valid gpu". So my concern is the card might be the reason I can't get the system to fast boot in uefi and since all of the other devices and configurations are showing correctly I was assuming that perhaps the gpu isn't uefi compatible?

The GTX 970 comes with EUFI firmware. I don't know why your motherboard isn't allowing you to enable fast boot mode.

Does the card work properly in Windows with fast boot disabled? NVIDIA drivers install fine?

Looking at the manual it doesn't mention anything else showing in that field so it may be by design
