I have a samsung hu8550 with UHD color enabled on the card's HDMI port  at 3840 x 2180 60 hertz.
Whenever I change settings in a game (the kind that cut out the video signal for a second and usually cut back in) I loose the signal all together. If I quickly unplug the hdmi cable and plug it back in before the timer undoes the changes I get the signal back but having to do this each time is going to eventually break my HDMI port.
Is there something I can do about this or is 4k just buggy like that?

EDIT: I also have the card going directly into the tv and not through some receiver or passthrough.

What length HDMI cable are you using? Longer cables tend to have issues such as these, especially on high resolutions.

    It's a 6 foot cable. Should I get a shorter one?

I think you're right about the cable being the issue perhaps causing a bad handshake.

I tried a higher quality cable, shuffled some settings around and it seems to work as it should. Video cut out and cut back in instantly. I'll do some more tests but it's looking good.
