So, finally got a top endish video card. I normally cap my spending at 180-250, but figured I could really use a good card since I've been running 3 monitors for a while, and it basically makes all the games I play (Arma 2/3 and DayZ) unplayably slow FPS... SO, got a EVGA 970 FTW. Thanks to Bohemia Interactive, I'm still getting pretty crappy FPS, but it's WAY MORE playable, and GORGEOUS. RIG: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H mobo i5 3570k (stock clock) Thermaltake Water 2.0 8GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 1600 2 Samsung 870 128gb SSD 2 WD 1.5tb Raid0 7200 RPM Drives 2 Acer S231hl 23" screens (dvi/dvi) 1 Acer H243H 23" screen (hdmi) So, no problems gaming really, a BIT of screen tearing on the center monitor in games, but nothing horrible... However, in Windows, I get fairly frequent jaggy lines, I've also noticed entire portions of clouds not loading in Arma 3 in very clear cut shapes. Here's a quick video of the jagged lines in windows, it's not SUPER obvious, but again, I held my cell phone on it randomly for 2 min and edited down the videos a bit. It won't let me link the video you tube . com/watch?v=4dn4bC1OCPI&feature=youtube_gdata Here's a screenshot of the clouds in A3: I can take another video is it's not clear.. it's definitely happening a lot.

I just viewed your video. It appears that every time your screensaver/desktop background changes the lines/artifacts appear on the center screen. Clouds not loading in Arma 3 is related to a driver/game issue. Recommendations: Disable desktop picturing changing. Disable screensaver. Make sure Arma 3 is up to date. Update your graphics driver to the latest version/try older graphics drivers to try and correct the cloud issue inside Arma 3.

I'll try switching off the slideshow.
I hadn't noticed it coinciding before.
Drivers are all up to date, and I uninstalled the ATI stuff from the previous card, and even cleaned the registry.
Hopefully that does it.
Otherwise the card is AMAZING, even at lowish FPS in Arma/DayZ it's so much more playable than it was before.
Thanks for the suggestion.

It's not happening as much or as prominently, but it's still happening.
I'll try to get some vids of it happening tonight or tomorrow.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Nope, it's actually worse now. I turned off the background switching, but it seems to do it anytime I have multiple windows open with video? but sometimes it happens only with webpages open.

I think I might do that upgrade thingy to the FTW+ and pray it's just a hardware issue that gets resolved with the replacement card.

Does changing the resolution/refresh rate help remove the line?

I don't get any options to change the refresh rate, the only resolution options I have are:
5760x1080 4800x900 6840x720
I'll try a different resolution I guess?
Won't really be a solution though, as I def can't work/play/use the computer in anything but 5760x1080.

No options to change the refresh rate? That's odd. There are two ways to change the refresh rate... #1 Right click on the desktop and select "screen resolution", select "advanced settings", select the "monitor" tab, select and change the refresh rate. #2 Right click on the desktop and open the nvidia control panel, under the display category select "change resolution", select and change the refresh rate.

It appears to fix it, this forum for example will do the scanlines on the edges of the browser a LOT in 5760x1080 as I scroll up and down, it does not do it in 4800x900

You may have a faulty display cable. Have you tried replacing the display cable on that one monitor?

I'll give that a go, I've got a few new spares laying around, although this is a fairly new cable itself.
The wire routing isn't great, their maybe some stress on the connection. I'll reroute and check all the cables.

Brand new in bag HDMI cable still the same stuff.
Ugh... RMA?
I just found out EVGA only allows 14 days to register for the level up program or w'ever, so now I'd have to buy a Extended Warranty to be eligible for that...
I've been noticing it happening in games now too.
This happened to me with my last nvidia card too.. I swore off high dollar cards since then (GT8800)
Could it be something as dumb as the overclock isn't liking my memory? or Power Supply problems?
Any ideas would be great, I really don't want to deal with RMA'ing a card, or buying an extended warranty.

Do the artifacts follow the display? What happens when you make one of your other montiors the primary?

It seems to be worse with this cable? The scan line goes all the way across anything windowed in the center monitor, and it's happening pretty frequently now..
I'll try swapping around cables on the monitors and see if that effects anything.
The far right monitor is the "default" though, thats the only one that displays anything until windows starts, and that one doesn't do it at all.

Wow, I think this latest driver update fixed it??
Haven't seen it happen all night since I updated, and launched/closed a game, played video in a bunch of windows, and alt tabbed all over... scrolling etc.
Woo hoo! I hope lol.

Or not lol... Used the computer some more yesterday and today.. it's MUCH better, but still happens.
I was playing Arma 3 windowed today, and the tearing was outrageous, the driver actually crashed.
I remembered reading briefly about the memory problems with the 970's, so I went in and changed my vram size game launch param from 4096 to 3500.
It drastically improved the tearing in the game while windowed, I've only just now done this and played a bit, but it went from unplayable to not noticing any of it in 2-3 min or running/driving around.

If you go back to the previous driver does it go back to normal (worse) like before? If so, it's probably a driver issue.
