Hi Guys,
Can we expect to see a new range of waterblocks for the new 980 TI?

OR are all current 980 waterblocks compatible with the new 980 TI?

Thanks

Since the 980ti has the same pcb layout of the Titan X, it is unlikely that there will be any 980 blocks fittings on the Ti.

On the other side, yes, ek already posted on Twitter and a few other social media sites that the Ti branded block was in the works. Since it is just engraving Ti instead of Titan X, you should see them soon.

Originally there was suppose to be a 980Ti block but since the Titan X waterblock is compatible, it will be used has the official waterblock for the 980Ti.

Just to clarify, will there be a block that's engraved with 980 ti or will Titan X be the only option?

Thanks

Ah... EK_Luc!!! I sent an email to EK via the contact us thing on the website but maybe you know the answer...

I have a reference 980 ti and an EK FC Titan X block and backplate on the way. Since there is no vram on the back of the 980ti like there is on the Titan X, will I need to buy thicker thermal pads than the ones provided to mate up with the backplate?

Titan X is the only option.  No "980Ti" engraved top.

Excellent!  Thanks.  And if I do need new stuff, the required thickness would be a great help too!

hey i've noticed that the hydro copper has a wide bridge (think that's what its called) where the inlet and outlet are  while every other EK block has a more narrow bridge. why is that?   is there any difference from the titanx block and the hydro copper block other than the evga logo on the top of the block?

All HydroCopper have a proprietary bridge instead of the standard EK bridge.  EVGA wanted this bridge design to have extra ports on top of the bridge and the lighting effect on it.

OK, EK Tech Support answered.  They simply said, don't use them.  I think I will get some anyway.  I think there will be a slight advantage to cooling the pcb on the backside of the ram chips.

Dear John

Thank you for contacting us.

No, you won't need them because if it doesn't have vram chips on the back of the PCB than you don't have anything to cool there. You can than use your backplate without those thermal pads.

Best regards, Igor

Good!!

From what I can imagine, you could add a 1mm thickness in terms of thermal pads to compensate the lack of RAM chips.

Figured I'd ask here since you'd know best. I'm wanting to use the Step-Up program to get a GTX 980Ti, however the only one being offered under the step-up program is the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti ACX 2.0+...(06G-P4-4991-KR).....is the EK Titan full waterblock compatible with this card or is the pcb layout different? Thanks in advance

If you meant Titan X waterblock then yes it will. All the cards currently listed on the EVGA website are reference boards.

The ACX 2.0+ aren't listed in our compatibility list for the Titan X waterblock.  We would need a confirmation from an EVGA rep to know if they changed the PCB layout or just the aircooler.

Are you saying that the EK Titan X Fullcover Water Block will fit or work on all of the EVGA GTX 980Ti Graphics Card Models?

So far, the 06G-P4-4990-KR and the 06G-P4-4992-KR are listed as compatible with the Titant X block and for the 2.0+ models we would need a confirmation from an EVGA rep to know if the PCB as been changed or not.  If it hasn't been changed then the 06G-P4-4991-KR, 06G-P4-4993-KR and 06G-P4-4995-KR would as well be compatible.

So, just to be clear, you identified EVGA 980tis as compatible with your wateblocks based purely on the looks, i.e. which ones have reference cooler and which don't, right? Because you don't really have any of them (EVGA-branded cards) back in Slovenia to physically check compatibility with your TitanX blocks?

Not on the look but based on the fact that we know the reference Nvidia 980Ti shares the same PCB layout as the Titan X.

Any Reps from EVGA want to clarify if all the GTX 980Ti's have the same PCB layout?!

You didn't answer my question. How do you know that the two EVGA models you listed as compatible do follow reference PCB design? Because I'm sure you do not have any of the EVGA 980tis physically at your office, so you picked them visually, i.e. those with reference coolers identified a reference PCB and excluded ACX ones since you are not sure what PCB lies underneath, isn't that right? There's nothing wrong with this sort of thinking, you are just being careful.

We didn't need to have the 4990 or the 4992 in our hands to know they were reference ones since if you take a little look at the pictures provided by EVGA for those models, you can clearly see the "Nvidia" branding on the PCB right over the PCIe connector.

06G-P4-4990-KR

06G-P4-4992-KR

And this is the 06G-P4-4991-KR

You can see on the last picture that the "Nvidia" branding is gone in favor of an "EVGA" branding on the PCB.  Which might mean that the PCB layout has been altered.

as much as i kinda agreed with your thought process (as yes, they are always touted as reference with acx cooler) but ive gotta side with Luc and caution here, i mean its totally possible EVGA just used stock titan x pcb and stamped their brand, but if every other "reference" card has NVIDIA branding and those magically have EVGA branding, then yes, very well could be different.

EVGA already stated, the only non reference pcb is the Classified and K|ngp|n. All others are reference. That was Jacob posting that, and I will have to look for it.. The thread was referencing the 980ti ftw, which will not exist.

I'm back here it your answer... All other pcb's are Nvidia reference.

Yes Classified and Kingpin are the only cards that use a custom PCB.

Not a problem. I knew I had seen it, and couldn't remember what the title to the thread was. I actually had a long conversation with the OP before Jacob popped in and Helped us out.
