Shipping dates aren't 100% accurate, or even close?

I registered my 1070 FTW a week or two after I got it. Well actually i didn't. The page would error out every time.
I contacted EVGA and a rep took details and jpeg of my invoice and did the registration for me. I checked all the dates and made sure all was correct and it was. In fact it still is and that's the worrying part.
My card was purchased on 26/9 and registered on 7/10 all well and good. But then the VRM thing started and I learned via the forums to check the shipped date to check if it was after 30/8 to ensure it would be already fitted with the new thermal pads. However my card was apparently shipped on 10/10, you know 3 weeks after I bought it. That's some trick.
Now it's clearly an error or something, but how accurate are these dates?

How and where do you check the date it was shipped? I admit I haven't been following the events of the VRM stuff too closely, but I'd like to know about where the date of September 30th was from too as the threshold time as well.

The 30th august (not september) date was mentioned repeatedly in the VRM threads. There's dozens of them. It's in there somewhere many times.
The shipped date info is on the guest RMA page under the support tab on the forum bar at the top of the page. You go to the guest RMA page and put in your serial number of your card and it's supposed to tell you when it left the factory. In my case however it's clearly wrong.
So far i've seen TWO cards with damage. The same two cards are dragged out to show supposedly massive problems with these cards. Mine runs fine but i have an intricate cooling system with fans and air channels all over the place. So everything runs cool.
Yet again the gaming media have run amok with a small problem and turned it into a PR nightmare for EVGA and they don't care. Nor will they face any action for their damage to EVGA's reputation. Without further evidence, at this point TWO cards out of tens/hundreds of thousands have failed. TWO.
EVGA are rightly offering thermal pads for people to allay their worries which is good. I will be applying mine to be on the safe side, as it's an expensive bit of kit to destroy. But as I say mine seems to be running really well.
