I just received a new EVGA 1300 g2 power supply. I was using an EVGA 750g before this and everything worked fine. When I replaced the 750g with the 1300 g2 and moved to a new open air case, my computer does not turn on. Whenever I try to turn it on, the fans spin up and almost immediately turn off. I removed everything but the essentials to get into the bios [CPU (G1620), MOBO (MSI Z77A-G45), RAM (4GB stick of Corsair)], but it still would not turn on. I thought something might be shorting somewhere, but couldn't find anything. I replaced the 1300 g2 with my old 750g and it turned on and worked fine. Switched back to the 1300 g2 and it still turned off almost immediately. Does anyone have any suggestions?

No. I am using the cables that came with the 1300 g2. When I tested at the bare minimum, I tried both of the CPU cables that came with the unit in both CPU1 and CPU2 along with the MB power cable that came with the 1300 g2. None of these combinations worked.

Are you making sure the EPS cable is going to the motherboard instead of the PCIE?

Try posting the system with just the PSU out of the case.

Make sure you have a good power connection from the wall and try another outlet if you can.

I checked my serial number on the affected power supplies page posted in another thread, and it says mine is not affected. The symptom of not being able to turn on pretty much seems like my situation, though. I'm going to try and plug it into another computer and see if it works or not.

I can confirm that the EPS cable is going to the motherboard and not into any device that requires PCIE power. I also tried plugging it into a different wall socket (has 30A dedicated breaker) and it still did not work.

Thanks for all your help thus far.

Just tested it in a different computer. It does the same thing. Turns on for a second (fans and some MB lights) then shuts off. Here are some pictures from the second computer I've tested it on:

In this second image, note there are some extra power cables that were not plugged in for testing this power supply (including the 8 pin CPU power hanging from the top of the case). Those go with its regular power supply and none of them were plugged in.

Could you have dropped something into the PSU while installing it like a small pin or wire?
If not then I would say time to RMA, you did register it correct?, within 30 Days that is.
Have you also checked if you have one of the Bad Batches that was released. See:

I had already checked there and it said it wasn't in a bad batch. I'm pretty sure I didn't drop anything in. I looked through the fan grating with a flashlight and couldn't seen anything. I submitted a support ticket because I think I will have to get an RMA.

I had the same problem with my P2 1000w. I was watching a video and it died. I then turned the PSU totally off and then on, I then turned my computer on, it would then flash on and then off...
Its dead. I own a PSU tester... I put my old Seasonic 860 back in and VOILA! It worked fine. The PSU tester showed it worked perfectly too as I did not want to be accused of a faulty tester.
I have a new PSU coming via RMA for Tuesday. Your problem sounds JUST like mine... I was not part of the bad batch either. Evga tech DID make go through the paces but
when I tested my 860 it showed it was TOTALLY within spec. and working, Evga's PSU would flash and 12+ LL, 12-LL and die... I can think a few reason why it would do that
NONE of them good. I DO hope this is NOT the start of a trend, Super Flower makes great PSUs and their Leadex platform is VERY highly rated. Mine did not even last 2 weeks before it
    croaked either...

I have the exact same problem with my brand new 1600 Platinum. Starts up and then dies after a few seconds. Purchased another Asus B250 motherboard and it does the same thing. I have no idea why it would do this.
I have now ordered a Corsair 1200W to see if it will work better.
