Mine has whine but it's very quiet and not noticeable unless I put my head against my case. Much, much better than my old 7990.

Sitting about 2 - 3ft from my case and even at an idle desktop, no whine. Not that I can hear anyway.

Everyone thinking about RMA'ing for coil whine should think again. Why? Because you're going to get a re-certified card if your outside the first 30 day window.

Seriously quit doing RMAs and just through up a stress test for 8 hours or so. Most of the time you just need to break in the card.

+1 Leave the card running for 36 hours straight on some game or benchmark where the coil whine is at it's worst (loudest), make sure to have the fans pumping @ 100% when you do this, after 36 hours the coil whine will be reduced or even gone. I've done this myself before and it worked for me.

I've had my 2 reference Ti SC cards since 11/15/13 and have very slight whine right when the cards rev up on full load like 3dmark but then it fades away. Doesn't bother me at all. Have not experienced any whine while playing any game I've thrown at them. I sit about 3 feet from my case which has some grill opening on the side and it is at desk-height, so right by my ears. I feel your frustration if you have abnormally noisy cards, been there before. It is absolutely your right to return the card(s). But you should not be surprised when prices rise even higher and RMA policies become more strict in the future. I'm convinced that many RMA's, sadly, are due to poor overclock ability and people jump on the coil whine wagon in the hope that it will give them a replacement.

If the whine is IN your headphones it isn't the GPU.

Hello everyone, I have a reference EVGA gtx 780 Ti SC and I have no coil whine that I've noticed. My case is on my desk to my right, 2 feet from me. I haven't overclocked the card just my cpu. My wife closed my man cave and had me set up in the living room to share our time together. I miss the man cave. If I had coil whine she would have let me know and I haven't heard anything . Because I'm in the living room now, I have to keep the system as quite as possible. This card replaced a reference gtx 580 oc that I also overclocked as much as I could and that card was really loud under load. I got the card about three weeks ago and performs as advertized.

I just received my 2nd card (rma from Newegg). It's makes quite a bit of coil whine noise. The first card was defiantly worse. I can tolerate this card with Vsync on. I wish I hadn't of bought a waterblock already of I'd of bypassed the 780ti all together in hopes the 8 series doesn't have such a big problem. Heres the video of my first one... eeek. htt p://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vgb9Z8odd78

ANY kind of 'whining' through speakers is indicative of poor wiring ( house) , power cords run to close to speaker wires, cheaply made cables,... etc.. those type of things cause the E.M.I. A decent surge suppressor w/ line conditioning can really help. There are some modestly priced units all the way up to outrageous costs. Ex: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000512LA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2YQ7QMX62PX8&coliid=I1ATEZDAM7JH0 "" EMI/RFI Line Noise FilteringVarious electromagnetic and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This EMI/RFI line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage, data corruption and audio/video performance problems. The LC1200 incorporates technology that filters out disruptive line noise, preventing it from affecting your equipment or corrupting data. "" ..and re-route some of your exterior case wires to separate the power cords from your speakers, usb.... Good Luck ....
