i would have gone for the vanilla x58 not the LE the le only has a 3 year where the vanilla has a lifetime warranty. instead of 2 285's id look at a single 480 (price is going to be about the same and so will the performance. the cooler, the v8 is ok but the megahalems or H50 is a better choice. your hdds choice id reccomend smaller drives for the raid and a large storage for b/u . other than that looks good. psu the corsair hx1000 is a good choice.

I went with the LE because it has no IDE (why do they still inlude them?) I wont be running RAID, just storage. I might just get two HDD's for now. I may ditch (sell) the 9800GTX and run just two 285's. I'll definitely look into the HX1000.

the 285's are going to be a little hard to find sice the 400's are out now. the cost of two 285's is about the same as a 480 or 5870. those cards are dx11 where the 285 isnt. ad far as ide's there are still plenty of people out there who are still running old ide dvd/rw drives.

Ya what every body else is saying. The GTX 480 is the way to go if you can get your hand on one. I have the LE and it's a great board.

or when the 480 is at people like my own home and we are selling our 2 285s you can make out like a bandit getting 2 of the 285s for less then a 480 like i would sell mine at 200ea or 360 for both plus shipping even with shipping thats maybe what380? thats 140 bucks cheaper then a 480

Save some money and go with the i7 920 or 930 and overclock it to get the performance (and better) of the 950. The 920 is almost $300 less than the 950 at newegg. Other than that I would have to agree with everyone else about the video cards. Comparison of the 920, 930, & 950 specs at newegg.com

yes definatly the 920 is an easy overclocker especially the Jennifers (D0) Heathers are a tad more difficult though (C0) mine was easy to get to 4.2ghz =)

why i7 950? imao if you're really paying that much for a cpu why not just get the 980x? get the 920 or 930 (whichever is cheaper). as for your hdd... get a decent sized ssd for your os and main programs and use 2 of the 1tb blacks for storage, backup, etc. gfx card. go with either 5870, or 480, or 2x 285 whichever is cheaper.

You should go with a x58 SLI (Classy maybe) instead of the LE, especially with your i7 950 you'll wanna be able to do some good overclocking... and also, it might just be my personal opinion but the V8 is a HORRIBLE cooler, get something quality that looks sexy to and get a Prolimatech Megashadow! Way better performance too! Ok choices, except why do you need a 9800GT? just curious?

Nothing less then 1000W. I already have the motherboard, 9800GTX, CPU cooler, both DVD drives and case. Crap. The motherboard and CPU cooler should have been changed. You can get better CPU coolers for less money. The Scythe Mugen 2 costs under $40 and offers better performance. The Xigmatek Dark Knight costs $45 and performs around the same as the Mugen 2. As for the motherboard, the LE isn't the best for overclocking. You would have been much better off getting a normal EVGA X58 and an i7 930. The RAM is fine. Don't go for the GTX 285s at this point, a single GTX 480 is a much better choice. As for the power supply, go for the Antec TPQ 1200W. Great price to performance ratio. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371032&cm_re=Antec_TPQ_1200w-_-17-371-032-_-Product

I've always had nVidia cards and never a problem with them. How can you be sure to get a D0 or C0 processor if you buy it online? Would my parts list be good if I don't do any overclocking? (I never had the desire to overclock any of my previous systems) I got the 9800GTX for physx, but I'd guess it's not needed with the DX11 cards. I'd like to build a stable gaming rig without the need to overclock. My last system lasted 4 years before it was unable to play the newest games. <new specs> EVGA X58 SLI LE motherboard Intel i7-950 3.06 LGA1366 Cooler Master "V8" CPU cooler Corsair Dominator 6Gb (3X2) Cas 7, Timing 7-8-7-20 1 EVGA GTX 480's (dual SLI not needed anymore?) 4 Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA drives Sony DVD SATA drive Sony DVD/RW SATA drive Antec TPQ-1200 or Corsair HX1000 ??? Just thought you might want to save a few hundred dollars going with the 920. You could put that money towards a second GTX 480. I still think that for games that use Physx that the 9800gtx (used as a ppu) would be better than just a GTX 480 running all the graphics and Physx (I could be wrong though). I would suggest browsing the X58 Mobo section of the forums and look at some of the overclocking info available and maybe asks some questions about it before you buy the cpu. I had never oc'ed a cpu before my 920 and I found it to be fairly easy to get a stable 3.8GHz (P95 and Linx).

I srsly recommend changing the following... CM V8 to Corsair H50 Core i7 950 to Core i7 920/930 And get the Corsair HX1000. and do you rly need that much storage? 4tb? if not then shave 2x 1tb drives for a 64gb ssd. just my suggestions.
