As i was walking past geek squad i heard someone say "Just for that, are you kidding me?"So me being the geeksquad hater i am i walked up to the guy and asked him what he was having done he said he was gonna have his new ram installed.Mind you he had the new ram and his pc on the counter,So i said don't bother messing with these idiots I'll do it for free right now.

The guy behind the counter just glared at me.So the customer gave me his ram and  at the counter of geek squad i opened his pc up,popped out the old ram and and stuck in his new ram(It was the same model hp my mother has so i knew it would work)In the mean time the geeksquad guy was on his way back with the manager,By that time we were already done anyways.

The customer said thank you very much shook my hand and walked out the door while smiling back at the counter guy.I just shook my head with a smile on my face and went on to browse the store.

LOL I just had to share that story with you.The look on the Geeksquad's face said it all.

Geek Squad got served!!  Nice story Zerran2001.  I applaud you for your good deed.  Thanks for making a difference.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

I think they like to charge some $15 for a RAM install. I could not, within my morals, charge someone for a RAM installation. It is only slightly more complicated than a keyboard install...lol

The only thing that would have made this story better would have been a picture of the best buy rep when he returned or a short video while you did the install.

Nice going helping out the stranger like you did, you deserve the praise.

C'mon, the Geek Squad guy was just doing his job.  He doesn't set BestBuy's prices or policies.  If you're gonna hate, hate on the organization, not the poor schmuck working there for $10/hour.

That is a good point. There is a large disassociation between the corporation and the individuals along with the store vs the products on the shelf. It would be nice to see smaller mom and pop shops sprout up again like i used to see around town, but lately the only ones that will survive  are the ones who focus on repair/maitenence rather than a "complete" store like we see with the likes of fry's and best buy.

The thing that would bother me with a situation like this, would be the employee getting an attitude, since he shouldn't directly benefit or profit from the situation unless there are other "additional services" he is responsible to sell for regardless of if the customer "needs" it or not....

Wow,wasn't expecting a BR but thank you for whoever did that.

@chris i know it wasn't the Counter persons fault about the price issue.I was just taking money from their little scam they call a pc repair shop.He just happened to be the face of that corporation at that moment. Not directed at that guy in any way.I hate that place with a passion how they rip people off.

@phades i know i wish i had a buddy with me to take a video or something,That look he gave me was priceless

I would trust my computer to a monkey with a hammer before I turned it over the the geek-squad. I bought RAZR keyboard from BB for about $100 and the stupid thing kept launching WMP. I would close WMP and it would launch again until I unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in again. Everything would be fine for about 10 minutes and it would start acting up again. So I returned it for another one that had the same problem. BB customer service sent me to the geek squad who recommended that I uninstall WMP! "Well it can't launch windows media player if its not installed". Condescending prick.

    Congrats on your victory!

LOL @ how EVGA supported his efforts on bashing Bestbuy's GeekSquad. (well more about helping a customer).

But I think his BR was well deserved. Kinda makes me want to go into BestBuy and scope the area for unaware buyers and help them make a good deal minus geeksquad. Kinda like doing community service :D id of course pick up a candybar and hold onto the receipt while im helping customers telling geeksquad that hes my uncle or family member.

Perhaps even attach a small camera to my hat or something with voice :X so we could all review and gain my BR!

of course id have to rock an EVGA shirt! Would EVGA sponsor me in a shirt + cap?
