So I'm going down the 101 to my cousins house in Healdsburg this last Saturday to drop off his new PC that I built him. So far drive is good, some traffic but its going. All 3 left lanes are stop and go, my lane was empty for the most part, there was traffic ahead of me but not for half a mile so I had no reason to slow down yet. Then I see this moron in a Tacoma pop his blinker and proceed to merge into my lane crawling at a 5-10 mph pace (that's how fast the traffic in his lane was going), I guess he didn't see me? SO I slam on my brakes, and good thing Ford put good Anti-Lock brakes on this car cause boy did I need em! I'd say I went from 55-60 mph to under 35 just before we impacted, seemed like 2-4 seconds and then I had a flashback of Boomers bumper cars. Best part was with this moron to my left, he sandwiched me into some yummy cement barriers that were on the passenger side. Grinded the rims some, sanded down the side of the tire nicely. Royally pissed me off. My left front end collided with his right rear, just behind the right tire next to his exhaust pipe.

The comment that made my day, "I did not see him officer..."

He had another dent in his truck before, apparently from "turning" into a pole.

Least I'm not at fault, the morons insurance will have to pay for it! Well over $4k in damages, that's without looking at the possible suspension/alignment issues. Hoofin' it for who knows how long now lol, till I get a possible rental or use the old Escort. School starts next month too!

The CHP Officer was extremely nice and helpful, filed a report and everything for us. I liked his BMW bike to, those things can take off! It was my first accident, and the first time I felt like murder could be justifiable.

I will either find a way, or make one.

damn well at least it is going to be paid for and taken care off. I had someone bump into my car and i almost hit a hear head on in the oncoming lane because of it...

I pulled in front of her and forced her to pull over, went to the window to check out the damage and talk to her and she only knew how to speak Spanish. And this is not the first time i have had a indention with someone who did not speak English, lucky the other times it was not something dangerous, just someone being a idiot.

Luckily the damage was only to her car, She had a nice dent and scratch all along the side of her car and my car only had her paint on it... shocking since i did not think my little mustang could take any kind of hit.

So i ended up taking her plate, she drove off and i reported it to the cops of her leaving the scene and driving recklessly.

Glad no one was hurt. I hope the insurance company gets you fixed up ,without a ton of hassle or games.

If he was the cause and your state laws say he is liable then your rental car fees need to be picked up by his insurance.

At least he used his blinker, Which gave you a faster reaction time! Could have been worse if you didn't see a blinker and he merges out of no where. This happens a lot to me, What I do is worse than that though.... I swerve out the lane and go in front of them then hit then slow down. I don't see how these people can get there licenses. If he didn't see you, You were in his blind spot.... Did they not teach him how to check his blind spot? -_-!

I find this weird but its perfectly fine to have animals in the cab of the vehicle in CA (my mom does it with our dog and I don't like it so much), the guy had a nice sized German Sheperd in his passenger seat, wonder if that could of had something to do with the lapse.

After what you wrote Bkaat I'm glad this guy was caucasian and could speak English to a level of understanding. It would of been such a anxiety trip if that were the case.

I'm glad he did use his blinker, it did give me extra warning before he joined me , Could have easily impacted more in the middle of his car then where I did. Our insurance is going to take a while. CHP takes about 2 weeks to file the report, the Inspector from the insurance is going to check the car on Friday to determine w/e. Dads friend at the shop is trying to speed the process up. Insurance people giving us conflicting information, seems like Farmers has people who don't know how to communicate well with each other.

Were waiting to make sure we can get a rental before we do.

I may have been in his blind spot, I just think his big Ol German Shepard was blocking his view of his right side mirror.

Behind his rear wheel is where I hit, and in front of that is where he "drove" into a pole while turning. Can understand how it is driving a big truck and all, but for crying out loud!

You are worse than the guy merging and not seeing the car coming.

I'd never let my dog ride in the bed.  I'd make a person ride back there first.

I always signal  and give a prolonged warning, I believe the rule is what, 400 yards?  I drive a nice Tacoma now so I'm not too worried about jerks that can't drive.  I still need to swap bumpers and maybe put on some sedan..err.. rock sliders on to prevent any body damage when I go "off roading"

At least you're safe man.  Did they try to nail you for being a rear ender at first?

100 yards before you make your turn. At last here it is.

I was recently cut off by a guy in an SUV. I saw him and leaned on my horn and he doubled back into a turning lane that was empty. I had the right of way so if we would have collided he would have been at fault.
