I have a bbbbbbb and it does not seem to be giving off a strong connection. On the main floor of where I live it works fine, however when ever I want to connect either upstairs of downstairs the connection becomes very week or none existent. Where I live is not that big and it makes no sense why the connection will get so bad in such a short distance. I have tried both WEP and WPA2 for security settings and running it at 2.4Ghz, 5, and both at the same time yet nothing seems to help. Any suggestions or ideas would be a great help.

what kind of building do you live in? just timber frame house? insulation in the walls by any chance? lots of metal piping in the walls? all those can affect the falloff of your router. one thing that might help is upping the transmit power of the WAP if your WAP supports that.

All devices work on it, but the connect from one end of the house to the other, maybe 50ft, is week and will cut out. Its a dual band router so it should have the strength to reach it easily. I am not trying to see if I can rig an old netgear wgr614v9 to act as an repeater/extender. I am at a loss at what to do. Will having multiple connections at a distance reduce its range and strength?

i know you said its a dual band router, but are you connecting using the 5ghz or 2.4ghz? 2.4ghz has a greater range but will suffer from interferance from many household devices.

I have it running at both setting at the moment. The laptops will connect to the 2.4, but it has an extreme variable signal stregnth. It will go from a strong connection to cutting in and out regardless of the bandwidth use in the house. Also there is an issue of a smart tv not being able to connect to the 2.4 network and barley having any signal strength on 5 if any at all.

I would suggest installing netstumbler on your computer and do a simple scan around the house. Tell us your results. There's a chance there are other wireless signals around your house that may be causing interference. http://www.netstumbler.com/

Sounds like you need a new router.
