Ok.... finally machine is up and running and it is FAST............. Was running Crysis 2 full graphics 1920 x 1200 and getting 60 FPS +/-.

basic setup =
Evga P67 FTW
2600k at 3.8 so far
Artic 7 92mm cpu cooler . (bought cooler master 212 and 1/4 high and would not fit in case)
Corsair dominator 2 x 4 GB DDR3 1600 cas 8
EVGA GTX 570 SC
2 corsair 64 gb C4 SSD sata 6 in Raid 0+1 for OS
1 corsair 128 GB c300 game etc
2 TB drive for misc
good case and power supply etc....

Came from e8400 at 3.8 and 260 gtx 216. 2 generation jump.  It was a solid build and had great luck with it.
So messing with the overclocking of course I was having some issue but worked through it.  Needed to set the CPU voltage as auto.  Followed Jacob's basic setup although bios is a little different. Running latest BIOS.

At idle I am about 34-36c and when gaming I am running about 61-64c.  When I ran prime for several minutes I was hitting 72C.  I know the cpu range and it should run below 70 on load.  Prime 95 is extreme load which I will never probably hit.

What are people getting with air cooling and a good case?  I was thinking I may need to reseat my cpu cooler and check the artic 5 I put on to make sure I covered enough. May push me to water cooling to get the most out of the CPU.

I was in the same boat going from a q6600 and 280GTX SLi.  I was able to hit 4.8 but prime95 was 80+ with vcore at 1.42 and stable but I backed it down to 4.5 and max load was a more respectable 72 with 1.38 vcore.

I am waiting for the bios fix for the vcore and will try higher OC then but for now I am pleased

If you're going to do any semi-serious OC'ing, would recommend one of the closed-loop water cooling systems like Corsair offers (H60, H70) as they are easy to install and maintenance free. Good entry-level water cooling solution.

Yeah I know I should go to water cooling and probably will. I ran the e8500 from 3.1 to 3.8 on air great for a year and a 1/2.  I have to decide if the extra gain is worth pushing the proc OC and going to watercool.  Just wanted to see what people were getting on air.

Remember the Vcore will be SETTABLE as soon as EVGA comes out with a BIOS fix.  This should allow you to run with a lower Vcore, which will lower your Temps.
