Just found this PSU calculator and although I just ordered a 1600watt G2 , thought I would check this out after putting in all info. Said I needed 80 Plus Gold 650W . This is what the computer takes ...over 1100 watts Oh well.

I plugged in a x99 system with a 5930k CPU and a 2080 ti GPU, and it was showing 550w power supplies, even though the 2080 ti says a minimum of 650w Also the chose your series section after the results are confusing, if you could break out different parts of it (small size, low noise, etc.) and performance levels like "ultimate, enthusiast, extreme" etc. seem to have an unclear order (let alone meaning)

Thank you, I was just asking this question in another post if my 850w EVGA PSU could handle the load. Nice with my system config and CPU overclocked. The 850w will still handle either the 3080/3090!

Just curious of the accuracy of this tool. Just put in rtx-3080 amd x570 mobo ryzen 9 3850x (whatever the highest end was) 1 SSD and 1 HDD overclocked cpu NO and it tells me I need a 600-650W power supply. Minimum for a RTX-3080 is suppose to be 750W? I guess no one pays attention to this thread anymore

3 weeks without a peep. After doing further research I'm assuming because the RTX-3080 XC3 black is voltage limited to 250W that's why it shows a 600W power supply would work. But then looking at the card it states a minimum of 750W. So something is amiss.

For reference, the power meter thingy says I only need 710W... I've seen JUST my CPU draw north of 190W according to HWInfo, and I've seen JUST my GPU draw north of 450W... and I have 14 RGB fans in my system along with 3 SSDs, 2 M.2 drives, and 2 physical HDDs... I think 710 is a bit on the light side. Almighty1337 my system only draws 700watts when gaming but 850w PSU was very noisy, got myself a 1200 P2 and now it is silent, couldnt be happier :)
Always buy big & high end is my saying when it comes to PSUs, if you get a Platinum certified PSU it is going to be 90+% efficient at half load almost all the time, so even if you're only pulling 600-800W, you're still being efficient, and if you ever get that "GOD TIER" 1200W monsterous system everyone dreams about but never builds, you've got the juice for it.

So I only need 650w psu for my 3090? Then why is EVGA replacing my 850 GA with a 1000W G+? Strix 3090 was causing 850 GA to shut off.

Thanks. This is useful. While it suggests a 1000W unit, it didn’t ask about water cooling, so I think I’ll still go with 1600W to be safe.

Used the Power Meter in determining what Power Supply I would need for my 3090 FTW3 Ultra. All the 3090 specs say Minimum of 750 watts but the Power Meter says 650. My system must be super efficient ;) Even this one, https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator , that allows for much more detailed information, recommended a 650.

I don't think EVGA is updating their PSU calculator anymore. No next gen Ryzen CPU's to pick in the calculations. Iffy recommended results. Should probably just take it down so that someone doesn't use it to purchase an inadequate PSU.

Hi First of all I don't think you know what spam means, so here is the definition: Spamming is the use of messaging systems to send an unsolicited message (spam) to large numbers of recipients for the purpose of commercial advertising, for the purpose of non-commercial proselytizing, or for any prohibited purpose (especially the fraudulent purpose of phishing). Second, I asked legit questions, I’m just got into this sphere. Third, so what is the forum for if we have google anyway?
