 I won't give her an auto assault weapon. She does have an issue about shooting into buildings that there are enemy but you can't get to them. She can burn ammo in that scenario.



Im using a mod that has your companions use the "magic" ammo that they use with their default weapon.  All you have to do is give them a single round of ammo for the weapon that you give them.    
 
I won't give Cait or any other companion an automatic weapon due to the fact that you're as likely to get shot as the enemy.   The AI tends to favor the "spray and pray" methodology in regards to automatic weapons.  After all, look how well they do with grenades...




I stay away from automatics as their HP damage numbers are low and you use a lot more ammo. I won't give Cait or any other companion auto weapons for that same reason plus the strong possibility that I may be the accidental target. LOL
 
No grenades or missiles for any of them either. LOL

Anything left of the enemy? LOL


I shot the legs off of a Legendary Ghoul and when I finally put it out of its misery it was gone! One minute it is flailing around and 'poof' it was gone. I really wanted whatever Legendary item it was carrying and it was nowhere to be found. I even looked under the bridge for the dust that the Alien weapons usually turn the enemy into but there was nothing there either. I don't think Piper or MacReady even had a weapon when I first joined up with them. I gave Piper an Assault Rifle and 10mm Pistol. MacReady got a Shotgun, Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle and 10mm Auto Pistol from me. The companions seem to have a limitless Fusion Core in their Power Armor but you have to feed them ammo on a regular basis. IDK about the Artillery range but I was looking at the mission to blow the Prydwen out of the sky and one of the things needed to prep for it is to equip five of your settlements with the Artillery piece. Right now I am choosing the closest settlements for this. I can kill the Prydwen two ways. One is Artillery with the Minutemen and the other is to steal a Vertibird with the Railroad and plant explosives onboard. I would like to steal or appropriate Liberty Prime before I obliterate the BOS. Liberty Prime would make an awesome companion! LOL




I remember sneaking a look into Piper's pockets (and that's all I looked at) and did not see a weapon for Piper.
 
I shot a legendary super mutant and when I got to that location I saw it disappear. Like it got beamed out of there. Darn trekies. LOL

Cait and I are going submarine hunting this morning. Something I haven't done yet. I am running out of things to do. Breakheart Banks mission is still stuck. PAM wants me to wipe out a BOS patrol. Preston still wants to know if it's time for 'that' talk where the Romance option comes up all of the time. No more new companions to exploit as far as I know. As soon as we take a 'nap' we'll go find the submarine.

Far Harbor has been interesting-.- and no I didn't get in the beta found it sitting on the net, view it as I paid for it already since I pre-ordered the season pass with my three pre orders of the game and 2x season pass purchases.

Aren't you supposed to find the submarine and then take a nap?      Or at least have a cigarette.
 
Couple of mod updates for anyone who cares.
 
@Spyderrico - I ran the Enhanced Color Correction mod off and on.  Overall, I can't say that I'm much of a fan.  I get that they are trying to go for the more muted/subdued look from Fallout 3, but the mod (for me) doesn't quite pull it off.  Too much sepia and a little too much green tone going on. 
 
@Stalin - I've had craftable ammo loaded up for quite awhile and after checking it out, never paid it any mind because I didn't really need it.  Then I started carrying my H&k G3 full time and started chewing through a lot of .308 ammo.  So I might have made a few hundred rounds of .308 last night.   Also of note, Im running another mod called Modern Weapons that in addition to bringing more modern firearms into the mix, adds appropriate ammunition for those weapons as well.  7.62x39 and 9mm as examples.  The craftable ammo mod covers those calibers as well.  (Thanks to the mod authors working together.)

Are you currently running this? With the new DLC coming in about a week and a half, have you seen or heard anything regarding this mod getting broke after the DLC down load?
 
I also noticed that there are 2 DL listed on that site. Do you know the difference?

The top one named DD_infinite Settlement Budget ESP Only (Automatron ROBO Viits Edition) is the one you want.   The second one is a bit older and pre-Automatron if I am understanding things correctly.  Oh and to change the name of the ESP to something less NC-17.
 
I just installed it today, so I can't say anything about it yet.  Plus I haven't even come close to capping a settlement yet.

I'm curious in case the caravan gets robbed or fails to deliver the serum to cure MacReady's son that I might need it to prove my identity. There was a dialogue option that said "MacReady helps?" but I didn't want to send MacReady off to accompany the caravan and dismiss him because he was still wearing one of my best suits of Power Armor so I said "If MacReady trusts you that's good enough for me" and that was the end of that mission. I am stingy when it comes to my Power Armor. LOL

I thought I was in the dog house for certain. Got it back to Home Plate and got out of it fast. Whew. We're ....cool again.

Bengali New Year actually.  
 
Im trying something new when it comes to settlement expansion.  So I only build and expand when absolutely necessary.   Other than my OCD workshop, I've done almost nothing to Sanctuary.  The collapsed houses and other pieces of junk are still lying about.
 
Currently Im having no issues at all.  My cap bar in Sanctuary was sitting at about 50% before I added the mod.  Now it's completely empty.  Same goes for the other settlements I happened to remember to check.  And yes, the big question will be what the new DLC does to it.  Unless it actively messes around with the existing settlements, I don't see how the new DLC would effect it much.  But, this is Bethesda we're talking about.  They like to break perfectly good things.

I started a new character and put it on "very hard" and I am finding all kinds of new areas, people and places. Mostly small stuff but it's still cool. I made my chick super ugly, dumb as a rock with all strength and endurance. I had to fix her face at diamond city because I just couldn't stand it. My goal this time is to deal with the minute men as little as possible and only have Piper as a companion. Trying to score with her is very hard with zero charisma! I am also only going to work on one settlement at a time until it is fully built. My biggest complaint with this game is the lack of areas, enemies or anything else under water. A couple of sunken ships, planes and pipes here and there but nothing earth shattering. I am usually not one to play a game after completing it but this is an exception. I can't wait for Far Harbor.

Set up 10 raider cages, and 10 gunner cages around your settlement. Wait for all of them to capture... Once that happens, open them all up with a hit of a switch. Prepare for massive meltdown
