Have you tried downloading the Asus Drivers and Thunderbolt Drivers as well for the eGPU dock? https://www.asus.com/us/Graphics-Cards-Accessory/ROG-XG-STATION-2/HelpDesk_Download/
I was looking at the manual of it, and there is some kind of start button inside the Dock itself (I might be wrong, so correct me please) that should be started before plugin to the laptop (the plasma should light up after you press the Power Button).

Someone in this forum once tried to use a 1080 FTW in an eGPU from Dell, if I'm not mistaken, and the GPU wasn't working because it wasn't compatible (due to custom firmware that companies do for their hardware). I would risk to say that only Asus, and the F.E. models would work there (couldn't find this information in the manual, so can't confirm it).

Also, Power Supply connectors appears to be correct. Nothing strange there by the photos.

    Case: Asus Z370-G Box / MB: Asus Z370-G / CPU: Intel I7 8700K / Mem.: 16GB (2x8) 3000Mhz Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 / GPU: GTX 1080TI FTW3 / A.I.O. W.C: EVGA CLC280 / PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G3 750W
