Is today the first day that hydro coppers have shipped out?

Yeah.

Wow, that is messed up. Hopefully more of these cards can get into the hands of those who will actually use them rather than scalpers.

Ugh, scalpers are the worst.

I'm going to try to be a bit more positive in life. Maybe, these two people had every intention of using these cards for fun and/or work but something happened like a medical issue and now they need some quick cash. You never know what circumstances people have and experience. Making a change to myself and no longer assuming the worst, probably stupid, but there it is.

Agree.
If they lost their job and need to put food on the table, can not really be upset at them.

If someone is willing to pay you double what you paid for something, I can see that hard to pass up.

I am getting rid of a large amount of old RPG books and Board games, getting ready for a move.
Offering friends first shot at stuff at retail or less prices.
What is left is going to EBAY and BGG.
Guess that makes me a scalper.

I’m saying I wouldn’t be mad if they did have some big important reason, but at the end of the day it’s still scalping. I def. wouldnt call you a scalper if you did that but that’s not what these people are doing. You’re also not buying a very limited supply of something and then selling it for double it’s price when no one else can get them.

I was considering suicide this morning.  It's not about evga drops.  It's more about being a veteran of the Iraq wars.  My brothers treating me badly.  My wife called one of my younger brothers, and made me listen to him.  I don't know why I am sharing this, I guess just to reach out to anyone feeling something like this.

Sharing helps, but please consider speaking to a professional!

No idea really what my Doc did in our sessions; we talked, I answered questions, cried more than a few times.
Yet he brought me out of a very dark place and helped me live again.
A professional that you can trust is worth my weight in gold.

My main mantra in the darkest times was basically if I die I have Zero chance of things getting better.
Living is only almost Zero.
Turned out living got better, the really bad days are father apart now.

I would rather ANYONE share anywhere, even here, than not share at all and lose a brother or sister to this. I'm not tooting my own horn here, but I have some experience with this stuff, and I'm in the service as well, and I am just grateful he reached out. Period. I sent him a pm, and I used to work as a mental health professional (psychosocial rehabilitation). If he responds, I will do whatever I can. We should never ever shame anyone for reaching out like this, however odd the reach may seem. Suicide is very real, and it has destroyed some of the best people, including some people I know and will now miss for the rest of my life.

This is not to shame you or anyone else for recommending professional help or thinking a tech forum an odd place for such disclosure, as you're not wrong.

And moderators, I apologize for this off topic post, but I will make off topic posts until I get banned if it helps me to reach out to someone that needs help and gives them even the tiniest bit of hope.

100% worth it.

Scalpers are trash, but it's not like someone is being FORCED to spend $3600 on a 3090HC. It's easy, just don't buy what they're selling, especially if it's a common item like a GPU. 3090HC's are not rare. They are not worth more than what EVGA is selling them for. Wait your turn and you will get one at retail. You probably won't have to wait too long either since I don't think that demand for HC's will be very high.

The hope and upbeat comments here is just blowing me away. I don't know how you guys do it.

I have a tendency to work quite a bit so although I am about to build my 5th gaming pc, I have never really been in the loop as far as forums and other gaming related community stuff. So when I started looking at my components for this build in December and I couldn't find any video cards anywhere I had no idea just how deep the problem was. I thought the wait would be a few weeks, maybe a month. Wow, I've never been so wrong.

I wasn't going to buy the rest of the components until I realized those were getting hard to find too so I snapped them up when I could. Now I have them sitting in a corner waiting for the new video card and after roughly 3 months I'm beginning to break.

Here is my question, LOL. What would you guys do? 1. Build the new pc and throw in the old 1080 ti? 2. Not build it at all and just wait for the new 3080? or 3. Try for a lesser card like 3060 or 3070 on Newegg shuffle and just be done with it?

Keep the optimism up, you are better people than I!
Christopher

Build it and throw whatever placeholder in there for now and use it. Unless you run some tech youtube channel that loves to showcase builds, your technology is just wasting away.

Build it man! 1080ti stick rocks! I'd still be running mine if I hadn't gotten my 3080 through this queue. Could always score one off the Shuffle if you're lucky enough. Sell it when you get a 3080. I have a hunch that we're going to see numerous 30xx cards hitting the secondary market this summer, which means we'll likely see these crazy prices come back down to earth.

If you have a 1080Ti, you don't need a 3060.  Just use what you have and maybe try to pounce into the 3080Ti queue early, whenever that happens.

The queue works if you met the 2 critical criteria

1) The card you signed up for is actually being produced
2) You signed up within the first few mins of that card's launch

Any deviation from those two criteria means either no card or you get your card like next year. The 3060s and 3090s though have been moving at a good pace.

Nope. I've noticed lately they've been extremely late. Like well into the period you have to actually complete the purchase

I was leaning toward just building it but OCD is a **** and wanting to get it all at once is a pretty powerful. I'll have to throw it together this weekend I think.

Christopher

Build it man! 1080ti stick rocks! I'd still be running mine if I hadn't gotten my 3080 through this queue. Could always score one off the Shuffle if you're lucky enough. Sell it when you get a 3080. I have a hunch that we're going to see numerous 30xx cards hitting the secondary market this summer, which means we'll likely see these crazy prices come back down to earth.

I was leaning toward just building it but OCD is a **** and wanting to get it all at once is a pretty powerful. I'll have to throw it together this weekend I think.

At least it's just a GPU that you'd be replacing. You don't have to worry about like rewiring and moving fans, radiators, etc. You can just plug in that new baby and you're ready to roll!

@Enewt your code basically gave me free upgrade to 2nd day air shipping, btw I am within the ship tonight window for EVGA right?

Had to complete the order by 2 pm PT to be likely to ship today. Congratulations on the purchase and thank you for using my code.

i totally understand. I like to take my time with builds, making sure the cabling is perfect, everything is just right. You could get all that done, have the PSU cables ready to go for when you do get a 3080. I'm kind of bummed when I have nothing left to build.. :(

If you have a 1080Ti, you don't need a 3060.  Just use what you have and maybe try to pounce into the 3080Ti queue early, whenever that happens.

Like I said I'm about to break and getting desperate lol. I haven't looked at the 3060 but a 3070 on Newegg shuffle has been pretty tempting. I'm even ready to spend some extra and just get a 3090 on the shuffle or something. I haven't seen any 3080's on there.

Build it and throw whatever placeholder in there for now and use it. Unless you run some tech youtube channel that loves to showcase builds, your technology is just wasting away.

That's probably what I'm going to do this weekend. It's just a shame to not be able to finish it properly.

Exactly! I do the same thing with my truck. Even if its just cleaning and detailing, I like to have something to toy with.
