I got my 3070 ftw3 ultra last Thursday from the queue. My cpu is a 6700k. Do any of you think the gpu will be bottlenecked by the cpu? I'm using a 1080p tv for my monitor If that matters.

At 1080p you're almost always going to be hindered by your CPU somewhat more than the GPU - so a system upgrade would be wise in your future plans, but it'll still be a decent upgrade regardless if you're on something that's a 10xx-series NVidia GPU or older.

I gathered that the answer to my question based off your link is "maybe". I'll just have to see if the games i play max out my cpu or not. Thank you for the link 👍

The main question would be; what is the max refresh rate of your TV/Monitor? Because if it is a 60hz panel, you could have gone with a much cheaper graphics card unless you are just future proofing.

I upgraded from a 2080 XC (not super). I don't think my cpu was maxing out.

It's an older 60hz tv from 2012 I think. I'm waiting for it to die before getting a tv that has 120hz input. I read the 3070 has hdmi 2.1 which supports 120hz refresh rate.

Not as bad as my 4790K with my 3060Ti FTW that's coming Monday.

I coming from a GTX 960 4GB SSC GAMING ACX 2.0+ (04G-P4-3967-KR), that's paired with a HP Pavillion 27xi 1080p IPS from 2014. I'm keeping the screen. It's not in the budget to replace this year. I can't wait to run everything at Ultra and 60fps. I will be significantly CPU bound for a while.

Meanwhile, in the past few months I have replaced my Case, Power Supply, and now GTX 960 for the 3060Ti FTW. Only Processor, Ram, Motherboard and SSD M.2 to go as the year goes on.

Hopefully at MSRP or lower, but who can say, it's definitely not the best year to be upgrading.

The 3070 should be good for that, it'll run 4k 120hz on reduced settings or max settings at 1080p with no problem. I don't see the 6700k being too much of a bottleneck, but it will reduce the max capabilities at 1080p.

My current 6700k system was an upgrade I received a few months ago. It was a hand-me-down from my friend. Went from a 4770k system. Going from DDR3 to a DDR4 system was a very noticeable difference when gaming (assassin's creed). I'd imagine you will also notice a big difference once you get DDR4 system.

It will be huge. My current plans are for a Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB (maybe 64GB), 1TB Gen 4 M.2 but not sure what MoBo yet. The 3060Ti is just a stop gag until I can replace my current screen for 4K 120Hz in the future. The 3060Ti will eventually it will go in my daughter's PC and I'll probably get a 4000 series card in to balance the 5900X.

I never expected to get a 3060 as early as this though. I happened to be on the website when the 3665 dropped in the queue on the morning of 12/8/20.

If EVGA hadn't decided to release this SKU, I'd still be waiting for until 12/1 4:18PM PST for the other 3060Ti's. The 3667 is only at 12/1 7:15AM and the 3663 hasn't moved from 12/1 7:16AM  since January 21st.

Also, GIANT KUDOS to EVGA for allowing all of us in the queue, before the tariffs were enacted, to make purchases for the 30 Series at the Release MSPR.

I feel like you're making the huge assumption that they actually manage to get through the queues before the cut-off date in April (unless they've announced some update I'm not aware of).

Sorry, your right. I didn't mean to mislead or get anyone's hopes up that the original MSRP will be still in effect after April 15th for the queue. I should have added " and have been notified "

Samsung can't make enough chips for Nvidia to meet the current demand and there will be quite a number of folks that won't get the original MSRP.

I'm just very grateful that I was able to purchase the card at the original MSRP. I definitely lucked out on 3060Ti FTW (3665) by getting in early in the queue on 12/8/20, prior to any real announcement. EVGA did not have do this for their customer's and went well beyond what I would have expected.

MSRP for the cards is the prices listed on the site now, not what we're going to be getting through April for those already in queue.

Just thought that, whatever you want to call it, perhaps "misconception", should be pointed out - prices went up because of the increased cost of importing the things, and increased cost of making them to begin with.

In reality, people should be glad eVGA extended the prices we signed up for before January, through April - they didn't have to do that - instead of acting like it's some right we had because we been in queue since September etc.

Unpopular view, but also true :-P

I'm sitting here debating if I really want to go all out & get this CPU loop ordered or not - not cheap, but it's (sort of) a one time purchase, if I maintain the loop properly to keep it clean & happy.
Decisions.

I think though if they can get through the entire 1st day for all the cards that in of itself will be quite the achievement. It's better though if they can get through a week or two on each card by the April cutoff. Unfortunately it looks like they've completely abandoned the lower end skus for each series. Understandable though if they can't really make money on them. Just would have been nice if they had told those q'd for them or offered the opportunity to trade Q to a higher end sku with a chance for auto-notify.

Not as far as you think. Now that the 3897 is past the first massive bottle neck it will move a lot faster. Hours instead of seconds. A lot more people are flaking too. Straggler drops for that card are getting bigger and we are even seeing second generation straggler drops now. I bet you will get yours before the prices go up in April.

You've gotten more 30 series cards than anyone else on here, that I'm aware of.  It seems money isn't really an issue, so you might as well go for it.  Just do yourself a favor and figure out a way to clean up the weird fan configurations and up your cable management game.  You've got a great case and awesome hardware, so you should do it justice by taking the time to do proper mounting and cable management.

I would be too. Two months was bad enough. Five, just seems so ridiculous. If you told me a year ago that video cards would this scarce and going for double on eBay I wouldn't have believed you.

There's several forum members that are in to mining and/or Folding that have definitely gotten more cards than I have from the queue system & other sources.  And I really don't get why that is such a sticking point for some people - I waited in queue just like everyone else, ain't my fault I got in to queue for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra at o-dark 30 on launch day because I wanted one (and didn't get it until mid October despite being "in queue" for it since launch day) and then later adopted a full "yolo" perspective for "not being able to take money with ya when ya die" and went the 3090 Kingpin route.
Life is way too short to be salty & complaining all the time, live the best ya can (Note: I am NOT saying you are salty or complaining all the time, that is a general statement & not directed at you, or anyone else in particular, for that matter - just a simple statement that I have learned is a good thing to live by in the last year and a half of ridiculousness the entire Earth is dealing with right now).
Edit: I'm also not saying you don't have a right to be irritated at this whole situation, because it does indeed suck completely.  There is no reason why anyone should still be having to wait in line for a GPU almost SIX MONTHS after it's initial release.  Insanity.

As far as "weird fan configuration" the current setup is temporary, and if I cared about cable management it would be cleaner, if you think it looks bad up in the front you should see the back  It's actually a LOT cleaner than it was, and it'll be cleaner once I get the loop in, which is supposed to arrive somewhere around February 19th... all the way from EK in the EU so hopefully it arrives intact O_o

For those interested: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-quantum-power-kit-d-rgb-p360 I pieced together the loop "separately" just to see how much the kit is "saving you" and I got to over $600 in parts without the little do-dads they include - so the kit is definitely a "deal" in comparison... and most of them are quality parts that come pretty well recommended, I.E. the D5 pump, the block & EK radiators in general.

No way to see either queue officially.  I provide a summary of the North American queue: North American Queue Summary

@BovineGamer provides regular update on the EU queue. Here is the latest I've seen from him: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LDYzo7bZ--cfru4Kc4PIlel1rpIF4uWNiJ3j4_p0uy0/edit

Best of luck!

I definitely lucked out on 3060Ti FTW (3665) by getting in early in the queue on 12/8/20, prior to any real announcement. EVGA did not have do this for their customer's and went well beyond what I would have expected.

I may be slightly salty because I've been in the 3897 queue since 9/21 and am still far from getting my card.

I dunno, EVGA is slowing down the line for 3897 greatly. We have been near the end of the mythical "first bottle neck" and there are no signs of speeding back up. I'd have faith but they seem to be using those chips for the 3898 instead. I have no faith I will get my card before the April price cutoff at this point.

I got my 3070 ftw3 ultra last Thursday from the queue. My cpu is a 6700k. Do any of you think the gpu will be bottlenecked by the cpu? I'm using a 1080p tv for my monitor If that matters.

I JUST paired up my 6700k up with 3090 and I am driving a 1440p, 144 hz monitor.  I have only been able to try two games so far, Starwars Battlefront 2 and Control.  Battlefront will cause the CPU to max out, but I still stay well above 144 fps.  Control, with all the eye candy turned on, has been running at 60-100 fps (with DLSS) and my CPU has barely broke 50% usage.  I'd say try it and see what happens.

I think you are reading this different than me.  He's congratulating you for your "luck" or jumping on this faster than some of us.  Just also saying you need to fix your build out.  And you're kind of flush with cash.  Not trolling you for buying what you buy.

I really find it unbelievable that people STILL keep believing that it will magically start ramping up month after month after month when it keeps either slowing down or standing still.. I seriously do not understand some of you **shrug**.

Maybe when it's been another 6 months without any decent movement people will finally stop saying that?

some may be annoyed cause it comes off as 'flexing'. I don't mind it personally, I just scroll by.

Updated forecast for the 3070 XC3 Ultra 3755. Due to delays from lunar new year, the orange forecast is expected to be the most likely scenario.
