Yeah, I was feeling saucy at the moment... Now it's just back to wondering what the heck is going on.

I am beating myself for pushing "notify me" button after 4 days sitting behind keyboard and searching on every known to me online source.

Well if this shortage continues for months and months.. and it looks like it will.. they (EVGA, partner brands of NVIDIA, NVIDIA) will have a hell of a time trying to get people building or buying a new rig right now and until the shortage ends to buy a new 3080 or 90 when they have spent crazy money on a surplus 2070, 2080, and a new AMD GPU.  That will do a few things that NVida and its partners will not really like:
 
1.  It means the old tech is going to be relevant for a lot longer .. several years or more.  So the gains of spending a ton of money on a new GPU will diminish.
2.  The lost revenue could be in the 10s of millions for Nvidia and millions for partner brands.
 
I made the decision not to pay a scalper and not to pay above list.  So if somehow my notify and step-up gets canceled because I was too far down the list I am just going to use my current EVGA 2080 Super FTW3.  If games that come out in the future don't work ok on it... I won't play them.. and at some point, likely every few weeks or months or so, I will be looking at what other partner brands are out and considering even AMD based cards if they are better then what I have.
 
This was a paper launch.  I see people buying 3090s when they are overkill for games they play and likely for the fnew3 years of games they will play.  I see people paying 2, and 3 times the list on these cards.
 
Honestly upgrading my 3950X CPU to a 5950X is going to have a bigger impact to my PC since its work and gaming combined.  That's next month and I bet its only going to take me 30 to 60 days to snag a new CPU and its at best going to be just 200 over list.  How a GPU upgrade is worse is beyond me...

Yeah man, it's a free market and whatnot.  Geforce cards have been hard to come by since the 10 series (IMO) and it has always been gamers vs scalpers vs supply.  Saying that someone might go to AMD doesn't really do much on this forum as most people here are Team EVGA (IMO).  I have had AMD let me down time and time again, but I have never had an EVGA product fail me.  So I will continue to wait and monitor because even if I have to wait another three months, it's better then buying something that will fail as many AMD products have for me in the past.  I am not hating, to each their own and as long as there are enthusiasts, then it's all good no matter what is in their rig.

This is not like the past launches.. the 1000 series launch is why I went laptop for a bit.. I just got fed up with the costs.. my games suffered.. but here I am over 5 years later... not by choice.. I needed a rig because I needed a real remote office..
 
Games are much faster and easier to play..at least.. but this hardware treadmill.. sucks

I am extremely frusterated with the "big drop" comments.  How is it useful to say that, considering we dont know how many cards that contains... how many people are currently in queue?  If they are calling 100 cards a big drop, which they could very well be, and there are 50000 people in queue, it really doesnt matter to anyone except the first people on the list.  For all we know, the big drop could just handle another 10 seconds of the notify queue.  I just want to know, man... I just want to know.  Give us some idea of the numbers involved, and our place in line.  PLEASE!!!!!
