My next question is why are the stock so limited? Moore’s law said Nvidia is artificially keeping the stock low. I am starting to believe it. 3080 launched almost a month ago and still no stock. Nvidia only had around 20k cards for this paper launch

If true, what would be the reason to do this? Wouldn't they want to sell as many cards as possible before AMD releases theirs? I mean, AMD is obviously the whole reason they rushed this launch in the first place.

Because theory is if you demonstrate the appearance of super high demand and no stock then it makes people feel like they have to buy it now or they won't be able to get it. Such as Nintendo with the switch. This helps to maintain demand and continue to have the prices at msrp and not drop such as the Xbox or PlayStation who usually create an abundance of supply and then their prices drop. Switch doesn't thus they still cost full price... For a inferior product (imo).

Seems like they went pretty overkill with that strategy if true. They created more than just a small shortage. 30 days after launch and they still can't meet a fraction of the demand.

Yup I think they don’t want you to but the 10 gig version. They want us to buy the 20 gig but I don’t understand why didn’t Nvidia just start with the 20 gig ones first?

Yeah, doesn't make much sense. Here's this model...but hopefully you don't actually buy it and buy this model we're going to do a little later down the the road. Why wouldn't they just drop the 20gb model immediately if that was the case? Unless they wanted to tease the $799 price point and then do the 20gb for another $200-$300.

I think they wanna clear RTX 2080 ti in their warehouses. Anyways, those scalpers is an unexpected accident. I don't think scalper is bad, but they're using bots. That's cheating. I don't understand why no one make the law to stop bots.

I don't think there will likely be a 20 gig version, or if there is, it won't be the magic bullet people are anticipating. Let's look at the RTX 3090 as an example we already have: 24 gig DDR6x RAM and more Cuda cores for $1500+. What does this extra 14GB Vram and such for $800 get you? 10-15% improvement over a 3080. Considering games don't use the 10 gig of Vram in the 3080 already, a $1000+ 20 gig version would be silly. The very minimal gain the 3090 has isn't due to Vram. It's due to more cuda cores, etc. A paired down version of that would be....what? A 5% gain? lol It makes no sense.

I've been saying the same thing, but peoppe insist a 20gb 3080 is coming. I don't see how you're going to convince anyone to spend $900-$1,000 for 5% more performance over a 3080---unless you strong arm them with no 3080 availability.

Yeah, but even then it would be more expensive to produce, and due to the cost less people would end up buying it over a 10gb 3080, a 3070, or a Navi. So, it's a lose/lose situation really, and I doubt they'll go down that road. Nvidia can barely produce what they have, let alone facilitate starting a whole new production line for another product.

Remember what Jensen said - it's a demand issue. The issue being that demand is greater than zero.

I'm sure Jacob will make an announcement soon, but you can now remove yourself from the individual notify queue if you so wish. Just be careful as once you do it, you can't get back in your original queue. https://twitter.com/EVGA_...us/1315850901563695104

What it be possible to know for what dates that emails are going out for? Like "Notifications for those that signed on 10/16 are now being sent out!" Just to know the progress of the queue that way people who signed up later are constantly checking email.

What it be possible to know for what dates that emails are going out for? UM? Perhaps if those people who get emails post it here.
