8 months later, I bought a 610 purely to start the step-up process. Registered it and started the step-up for the 3897 today. Really curious to see which queue will get me a card faster and allow me to finally finish this computer...

Maybe so, but I couldn't justify the extra $1,000+. If I was willing to spend that much more (believe me I've come close) I'd just buy from a scalper and be done with it rather than keep waiting.

Scalpers are waaaay worse prices, plus you don't get full benefits of CS and 10 year warranty(or at the very least risk losing that privilege) 3080 is still in September 29 for stepup, you have another year or two at this rate, hence my advice about 3090 since its in April 2021 already

Hm, on second thought you're right. I cancelled and restarted it as a 3090. Thanks for the tip!

The 3090 step up is really fast. If you have the money, it's the way to go to get a top tier card plus the option to buy the 10 year warranty. I wanted the 3080 initially but bought a 3070 because it was way quicker to get that 30 series card. Just completed the step up (took about a month from step 1 to 5) and even though i didn't want to pay 2k for the card which included my initial cost for the 3070, I'm happy I did. 3080 supplies are so far behind the demand due to their bang for the buck value. But with prices and availability, I felt the 3090 was the way to go in the end and I'm not regretting it at all.

If I got a 610 off Amazon, would I be able to use that to step up? Nevermind it's from a third party lol

Yeah, I had that thought a while back but EVGA cards were the first to disappear, probably because of the step up option.

That's awful, but it's not so much better here. https://stockx.com/nvidia-evga-geforce-rtx-3080-ultra-gaming-graphics-card-10g-p5-3897-kr?country=US¤cyCode=USD Reporting the last sale there as over $2700 USD and current lowest ask of $2279 USD. Might be cheaper options than StockX, but anything super low is unfortunately the obvious shady in a sea of shady. Sadly there are no vaccines to fix this trash. Mfg and supply chain has to step up and overwhelm the supply side before scalpers start losing money in the taking advantage war.

... ... This awfull situation is present for to long... I am loooking forward to see will a new generation of LHR cards improove card flow to gamers and regular users, at least a bit If not, our future is using second hand miner equipment, once the new generation of card arrives... ... I think EVGA is making extremely fair and heroic effort, but it is bleeding their money too, considering that they can sell cards (one way or another) for much more... It is. So many things have been for going on at least 14 months now the US side. For most things evga related I think people could have hedged better and be in a better place. That said, there are other things like a flash KPE HC drop that if that's all that was going to be done, why? That's one of the baffling things to me. If you want to leech from the KPE Hybrid, at least open up the flood gates. It's one of the rare miscues on the evga side (new t-shirt idea, EVGA: MisQueue!). Still, there's a lot of good community members here on the *NA* and EU side. There's a convoluted and complex effort to make it right. At some point things will get back to a semblance of normalcy. The card manufacturers who lost their mind will feel a hit one day *cough msi cough*. And you will get your card one day and have that memento. Maybe we frame these evga 3000 series cards when the time comes to put them out to pasture.

3987. I would have preferred the hybrid (or Kingpin) but I saw that the 3987 queue seemed to move quick. Installing my hybrid kit this weekend.

That's very interesting, I wish I could find somewhere to buy a new card eligible for step up. Step up queue seems to be the play now as the notify queue will get you nowhere fast.

Do we have an idea of how the KP block queue is moving? Looks turtle speed, but I assume it is REALLY front-loaded. I decided to queue for it after some of the horror stories I have seen with the hybrid KP pump. My KP personally is a little noisy, but the performance/cooling is rock solid. I will take a known (somewhat noisy) good performer over rolling the RMA dice, but the water block would allow me to circumvent any potential pump/aio problems.

I wouldn't believe the front loaded lie, the 3897 was supposedly front loaded yet the queue has slowed down to nothing. This means that either EVGA is putting almost 0 cards in the notify queue or there are tons of people that queued up on the 21st of September.

I truly do hope that the LHR cards along with the current downtrend of crypto profits will reduce the scalper hunger. I know many people and publications solely place blame on miners, but that isn't the case. Take the RX6000 series - they are terrible mining cards and have bad cost/MH, especially when the AIB cards are considered. Yet the scalped price of these cards makes me question my sanity. Sure, miners are grabbing every 3000 series they can and probably a good chunk of RX6700XTs, but it is the scalpers that are making everyone's lives difficult. These "professional" scalpers jump from product to product (like sneakers) wherever they can make a quick buck. It's one of those jobs that doesn't add any value to society, heck they make hedge fund short sellers look like model citizens.

Yeah, the chances are way less than being in the NA queue and we are getting cards at a far less clip than we did earlier. The majority of the cards seem to be going to the Step Up queues. I wish if this was really the case that EVGA would say so, at least then I wouldn't have to be dieing of anticipation.

I am thinking a block for a hard-to-get card should be front loaded, but what do I know. The block is $400 and is useless without a KingPin. So, I got to believe only KP owners or hopeful owners queued, and they did so early into the launch of the block. I guess desperate scalpers could buy up the blocks to scalp back to KP owners with deep pockets, but I hope that's not the case. You would think EVGA could have linked KP ownership with the ability to buy the block, but I dont think that happened.
