And that's is why I just laughed when I receive the e-mail about this.  Being an Elite Member does not mean anything since it's way too easy to be one.

They definitely should have a higher tier membership. Thousands of bots and hundreds of new forum members will be "elite" now.

I think the Elite ad campaign was a mistake as like you said, a large chunk of the Elite members will be bots and scalpers.

We need uber elite membership, should start with the oldest forum sign ups, there are a few of us with 10+ years here.

kissTheApexWell think of it as an investment. Once the next gen cards have the limiter, one’s current gen card will be a hot commodity.
Selling the current cards or even the RTX 20 series cards to miners for triple the price when new? Priceless. 🤪

As example: RTX 3060 (SKU 3657) need 4-5 month to return card price. You have to be very optimistic miner if you willing to spend 2-3 times more on GPU and wait a year or so just to reimburse your investments.

I will be heading off for my second shot later today. Absent completely crashing in bed afterwards, I should be able to pull together the afternoon queue summary. In the meantime, you have your marching orders...go get your card! 
 
Oh, and as an aside, if the 3080 Ti ever launches...for purposes of EVGA's North American queue, EVGA has stated that the first 24 hours that the "auto-notify" button is lit...only Elite members will be able to register for the queue (read another way, Elite members will get a 24 hour head start on the 3080 Ti queue). It is fairly easy (and free) to secure Elite status (see the ).  (On behalf of the existing members of the EVGA forums, please don't spam forum posts to get to the requisite 100 posts, rather please actively contribute to the forums or, in the alternative, watch the EVGA Twitch streams to secure sufficient "points" to qualify.)

Time requirements are hardly a good idea unless you just want to limit any1 who signed up after September of last year. For example, they would be alienating people who bought a 1080 TI kingpin and are legit evga fans with a purchase history to prove it but signed up in 2016. 

ok, I'm good with the time frame starting at the drop of the very first evga 3000 series card. 
BTW, I'm just stirring the pot. 
 

Maybe if the pot is stirred enough EVGA will see the dissatisfaction with elite status and do something. Doubt it though.

I don't think so, for both questions:

Current gen prices already went up at the end of 2020, there is always greed vs shame ratio companies have to deal with, I do think we can see a even fewer 3080 and 3070 cards around, for them, selling a $1000+ card is better than selling an $800+ one.

3080ti and 3070ti are completely new products, probably we will be able to sign up for those lists as well

Maybe a tier based on the number or dollar value of products registered, like the top 5 percent of that should be in some special loyalty tier

You can't use dollar amount spent. In this case people who build PC for sale will have advantage - they buy more than actual gamer. And they buy it for resale(even inside complete system) - this is their business.

People talk like all gatekeeping is by definition a bad thing. It isn't- sometimes you need gates, boundaries, borders to differentiate. Not saying that is the case here with EVGA, but think about it. If anyone who showed up could play in the NBA, what would being in the NBA mean...? If anyone who shows up to a college with wads of cash can get a degree, what does a degree mean...?

You're quite correct that some gatekeeping is needed.  This usually happens organically through merit or interests/hobbies.  Gatekeeping with an air of elitism rubs me the wrong way as it doesn't have validity other than "I did it the hard way...".  It was mentioned earlier about a "Super Elite" with an extra hour of pre-access for Elite members of time minimum tenure.  Given the current markets with scalpers and the like flooding the Elite system, I think this is a very good idea.  Even though this might mean I'd wait 8+ months for a 3080Ti, it's the best way to slow the scalper flood.
