Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/04/11 13:48:40 (permalink)
I got the hybrid kit installed and bios flashed on the xc3 so it knows it's now a hybrid, put an air cooler on the 5800x and set it all on my wife's desk and hooked up her new 1440 omen 27i monitor yesterday. The case and water AIO for the cpu will be here Monday or Tuesday I'm hoping. The Joys of living in Alaska is that almost nothing decent is available locally. I was also surprised at how hard it was to get a decent higher end motherboard. I'm not talking about a dark hero, but just a regular hero or the equivalent from another brand that doesn't want $800.00+ for it. I was shocked since I overpaid for my Crosshair VIII formula back in July (no hero's were available at all then) but I didn't pay $800.00+ for it.  My wife started playing her game and said wow I can see the veins in the bosses arm didn't know he had veins...she was gaming on a 7th gen intel I7 laptop with a 1060 using an actual 2tb hard drive paired with a 250 gb SSD.

Now she he has an AMD 5800x, the hybrid 3080 xc3 ultra, 2 gen 4 7000 mb/s NVMe M.2 (A bit faster than the 150 mb/s HDD) a 500 gb for windows, and a 2tb for gaming, a 2tb ssd for file storage, corsair vengeance RGB Pro 3600 MHz ram, all on a x570 Aurous Master MB. It will all go inside of a corsair 5000D airflow case once that gets here.

I think this might be a small upgrade for the wife, and so far she is very happy with it all. So waiting for months to get a card was worth to have a super happy wife who never realized what she was visually missing in her games on that old 1060 GTX laptop on a 1080 60hz monitor.

Hey enewt, is the link to this thread on the google doc supposed to link to the 999th page?

Thanks for the reminder...I put that in back when we were at like 500 pages. I was not anticipating that I would still be waiting for my card at this point...ugh!

Who would have thought when they announced a price increase and MSRP extension on reservations back in January that we'd be less than a week out from that deadline and still only six days into a Q on 3897 which has been one of the more frequent drops of the 3080 series.

Hoping for some movement on 3663 soon. My RX 580 just can't handle Elite Dangerous Odyssey anymore

I'm in the same boat.  Game runs beautifully in a ship or SRV, but on foot I'm getting 1-30 FPS (12 Avg) @1440p.

Here are my two reasons to be hopeful longer-term.

1) miner demand for cards may soon come crashing down:

https://www.techradar.com...lete-for-crypto-mining

And 2) Intel GPU's are coming, eventually:

https://www.pcgamer.com/i...ce-performance-xe-hpg/

Waiting for ETH to crash may happen in a day or a week or a month  or a year.
Based on 2016 to 2017 the up cycle for ETH began in Apr of 2016 and ended in Jan of 2018 so 21 good months of mining.
This new cycle began in July 2020 add 21 months we go to April 2022.
I stopped making bets years ago. (I lost too much) but with lack of chips pretty much certain until next spring my guess is Eth has until Next year to crash not this year.

I didn't say anything about ETH itself crashing.  I was talking about demand for new GPU's from miners ending in advance of ETH 2.0.  A new source of cards from Intel could also help us hobby builders and gamers.

Seriously your dates are insane , that too for 4 cards.  Probability wise you should get  at least one of them before the price hike, if not this queue system would do no justice to its existence or usefulness.

Here are my dates. The only two worth anything and the 3883 is useless because they don't even make it anymore. All my hope rides on 3885. She moved up 2 hours the other day. I'm ... Hopeful. Only 14 to 15 hours to go whatever it is.

My queue positions aren't all that wonderful.  On the day that the 3060 non-Ti opened, I tried for 5 hours before I could get the website to work.  I'm expecting to get my first notify in late Summer, and another hopefully by Sept/Oct.   I have one machine with no card and one with an RX580, which is not so great for gaming anymore.

This week is the last week of pre-tariff pricing. Since there no drops on weekends, all who will get their notifications next Monday will pay post-tariff pricing. It does not affect RTX 3060 since those have post-tariff pricing at release.

You know, ETH is not the only coin paying well. Others are not too far behind, so card demand will stay high. If we have inflation coin prices are going too fly. If one had mind constantly for the last 5 yrs even with no profit you would be rich today. I am 20 minutes from two 3060 s, seems like 20 weeks.

Knowing Eth developers the 2.0 will get put off.

It is hard to figure coin mining price.
My guess is fee drop in July goes on as scheduled.
ETH price rises bigly  this means demand for gpus stays high.
Eth developers do not want to tank the price of the coin and put off 2.0 for 6 more months maybe next spring.

All very bleak for gamers. Good for miners that have gear.
A few hundred pages back someone kidded about getting 4000 series cards. The may be right.

My cousin snagged a PNY 3090 from Best Buy for 1800 and instead getting it they cancelled it on him.  He yelled and screamed and complained they gave him a 100 dollar gift card.

He purchased a dell with an amd 5600m using the gift card.  it was on sale for 799 - 100 gift card is 699 + tax.
Actually it is a decent laptop for gaming. At a good price.

Meanwhile that pny gpu is now on ebay for 3300.

Do you have to reflash the cards to a hybrid BIOS, or can you just enjoy the improved thermals and noise from installing the kit?

The prices on the website now are new prices post tariff, compared to literally every other brand, evga is still cheapest
You cry about the pre tariff pricing when evga is selling every card they can make at a loss due to tariff going into effect beginning of the year....

It is not particular true... MSRP reflects retailer profit. When EVGA sell card on their website, they make more money then when they sell it via retailer. That is how they cover associated codes discounts and EVGA Bucks. Technically they still can make some kind of nice discount, if it will be impossible to combine it with associate code discount.

Use associate code to save 3% on your EVGA GPU purchase! And up to 10% on other products!

You weren't the only one.  I wasn't aware of the notification button when the cards first went up so I missed out on a few days.  Then when I found out I initially picked only the three I was considering.  Then a week later added a couple more.  Still waiting since late september but overall I'm still in better queue positions that a LOT of other folks so not complaining.
