-Godzilla 159 seconds away on the 3080 XC3 Hybrid. Prayers for a 20-second jump today.
It is amazing how, during material portions of this fall launch, our lives have been reduced to seconds. F5ing on launch day, F5ing every other time we saw a drop on an etailer website, and...now...as we watch the applicable queue's timeline tick down towards our auto-notify timestamp. Seconds matter folks...carpe diem. Godzilla, good luck on that 20-second goal.
Amazing or sad depending how you look at the situation. It shouldn't even be like this, Nvidia needs to get their **** together.
To be fair, we are in the midst of the worst pandemic since 1918. That has definitely had an effect on manufacturing and roll out. One could also argue that there has been an increase in demand due to the fact that everyone is sitting at home and has nothing to spend money on other than home entertainment, house projects, etc. Crypto also saw significant movement in the past few months which typically draws a significant demand from crypto miners. Nvidia is doing the best they can. If they could supply everyone immediately, they would.

The pandemic is only part of the issue, and smaller than most folks are probably willing to accept. The core issue was, and still is, that nVidia colossally botched the launch. They seemingly ignored significant interest from the community in Ampere as far back as Summer 2019, didn't take into account that the pandemic would increase demand (since their core purchasers would likely keep their jobs and work from home), and didn't look at 9xx/10xx series sales versus 20xx series sales numbers (20xx didn't sell very well). The signs were there and in plain sight, but they ignored them. That alone could have been manageable if they didn't also switch to Samsung fabs (presumably to save money), who in turn has had bad yields of chips, or if they had better prepared AIBs for the reality of stock (by discouraging so many different SKUs, and instead focusing on a single base model and single OC variant, at least at launch). Blame lies entirely on nVidia, though the pandemic exacerbated things.
10G-P5-3881-KR 9/17/2020 9:44:07 PM PT No 10 SKUs "launched" on 9/16, three of which have queues that still haven't even reached the 9/17 release date. EVGA: where are the 3881, 3883, and 3895?

I bet EVGA is not making enough money with the chip shortage as they do not have much product to sell. Even parts for power supplies are hard to get. Also the air carrier situation is tough with the costs to ship going nuts. The vaccine is going to take up most air freight now.

jbaysingar I'm tempted to queue for a hybrid, but my CPU rad is already mounted in the top, and it's probably a bad idea to replace my front intake fan with a GPU rad.
It shouldn't matter too much depending on the radiator that is being used for the CPU, if you are using a 240mm or larger for the CPU. Still having a single loop would look better. My old rig (now my wife's "Sims" rig) was my first attempt at having independent loop for the GPU (front blows in) and CPU AIO (top mounted blows out). It ended up working just fine and have never had problems. Now I do not go crazy with the overclocking so my use case may be different. I would not recommend it is typically hybrid coolers tend to have more noise and I like my rigs silent. [font="verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold"]

The air shipping issue is expensive and is unlikely to improve any time soon...in fact, given the shipments of the vaccine taking priority (and they should), it is likely to get worse. Edit: mdcurry nailed the thought better than I did.

rickityrickson I'm in the same boat, except I've got a CPU air cooler that doesn't allow space for a 240MM top mount. I'm thinking of front mount rad for hybrid card as push/pull. I've got 3 intake fans so at least 1 will be unblocked still. Hopefully that'll be ok. I don't really have another choice besides buying a larger case lol. Honestly, the temps will still probably be better than having a air cooled GPU.
Do the opposite. GPU up top as exhaust, CPU on front as intake. GPU puts out far more wattage/heat unless you have a Threadripper or HEDT high core count Intel CPU, having it as intake would mean your internal case temp is going to get much hotter.

This is true but it will still be cooler in the case than the GPU/CPU. As I noted in my XP the difference to those temps may be 2 degrees (C).

I appear to have two sign up dates for a card, apparently caused whilst logged in and following links to the website via EU or US, probably because the US Queue system opened first and later the EU? I went threw the same situation yesterday. i received a 3070 email but wanted a 3080. I still bought the card knowing i would be able to sell it to a friend or family and safe them from this 5 month waiting list madness. Good Luck on what you decide to do.

Oh... Well... ahem, I do have a threadripper. Luckily.. the X9 has a monstrous double triple 140mm rad capacity on top.. on the sides and the bottom too.

Nvidia isn't the only one struggling to meet demand. The latest AMD products are all out of stock. Xbox and Playstation are unavailable as well.

I ordered the Hybrid Upgrade Kit for the XC3 3080 (notification today - signed up 11/13/2020). I can't top mount it due to a large CPU air cooler, so I'll have to front mount it. The only other fan in the case is a single rear exhaust fan (after the hybrid kit gets installed). Is it preferable to have a front mounted radiator suck in fresh air or exhaust it?

evgaboyd Artificial scarcity you mean
It isn't artificial if they are selling way more than anticipated and when the foundry companies are at capacity (TSCM doing mostly for cpus of AMD and Apple) and Samsung being a ****ty low yield node hits Nvidia mainly. This isnt a magical conspiracy. They win nothing by not selling cards. Selling cards i what gets them money. They do not gain money by selling, as manufacturers and vendors get then at lower than MSRP. Scalpers and some business are the only ones benefiting from the high prices.

evgaboyd Artificial scarcity you mean
I could buy your artificial scarcity claim, if there were evidence that these products were being sold at higher than MSRP by authorized retailers or direct from the manufacturer or AIB. But there just isn't. Why would Nvidia, AMD, Sony, or Microsoft limit the amout of products they can sell to drive up demand past the point they can meet that demand and make sales? They just wouldn't. Unlike Nvidia, I don't believe in a demand problem. They just can't make enough supply, so scalpers win.

You want to avoid the rad for the gpu doing intake if you can avoid it, just given the heat issues. Anhle1991 10/29/2020 6:15:04 AM PT EVGA 3070 FTW3 Model Email 11:11AM Purchase: Undecided. Congratulations on getting the email. Tough call. If you order in the next 24 minutes or so, you'd likely get in today's shipment (if that matters). Just a friendly reminder that the daily shipping cut off for EVGA is purportedly 2 pm PT.

jbaysingar I'm tempted to queue for a hybrid, but my CPU rad is already mounted in the top, and it's probably a bad idea to replace my front intake fan with a GPU rad.
rickityrickson I'm in the same boat, except I've got a CPU air cooler that doesn't allow space for a 240MM top mount.
GPU puts out far more wattage/heat unless you have a Threadripper or HEDT high core count Intel CPU, having it as intake would mean your internal case temp is going to get much hotter.
unless you value GPU temps over CPU then having GPU rad as intake will allow coolest air to the GPU giving you better overclocking headroom there

evgaboyd Artificial scarcity you mean
I could buy your artificial scarcity claim, if there were evidence that these products were being sold at higher than MSRP by authorized retailers or direct from the manufacturer or AIB. But there just isn't. Why would Nvidia, AMD, Sony, or Microsoft limit the amout of products they can sell to drive up demand past the point they can meet that demand and make sales? They just wouldn't. Unlike Nvidia, I don't believe in a demand problem. They just can't make enough supply, so scalpers win.
Nintendo did it, who's to say Microsoft, Sony, Nvidia, AMD aren't. I guess I'm just not a true believer.
