However, my notify the 3080 FTW 3 Ultra is at 9/17/2020 5:49:22 PM PT.
At this point, based on the volume trends in the community spreadsheet, it seems like holding out for my 3080 que spot ( 9/17/2020 5:49:22 PM PT.) would be faster than buying a 3070 today and enrolling in the step up que? Thoughts?

The step-up program is a bit of a black hole, but, I would think that you'd be waiting longer through the step-up program than it will take to get to 5:49 pm for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra. I believe there is a material backlog in the step up program.

Managed to snag a 3080 from Zotac tonight whew. I know not my first choice but glad the hunt is over. Will be canceling my notifies soon once it ships and use my evga bucks later for something else. Now have to determine what to do with my 3070 twin oc that also just shipped today.

I bought the 3080 XC3 and will put it through the step up program for a FTW3. That way I can use the card for now and eventually get the one that I want. You should be fine getting your FTW3 since you registered for it on 9/17. I didn't register for mine until 10/7, so I figured it's better to just buy the XC3 for now.

Regarding the 3070, maybe check craigslist and offer it at your costs (shipping, tax, purchase price to a nearby gaming enthusiast) -- not sure...it feels like a first world problem to me. Yes, it was my first Covid project back in March that I taught myself how to do. Admittedly the initial investment in tools was a bit steep, but the more you make the more you save over time. That said I'm slow, and its a lot of work and probably not worth it, haha.

I think that is a conservative interpretation but probably not too far off. There are a lot of variables however. For example, as we get away from the launch hours, the characteristics of the folks clicking on the "auto-notify" button will change (maybe more will be parents or folks who are less likely to sign up to the spreadsheet or more likely to buy from a scalper after they couldn't secure a card on the first day) -- that will skew the velocity one way or the other. The improvement in manufacturing yields and efficiencies in shipping will increase volumes. The increased competition from 3070s and AMD, as well as the likelihood that some who signed up have already found alternative cards -- all of these elements argue that the speed should increase. Bottom line, we have imperfect information. I would suggest that you take the numbers from the last two drops and use that as your baseline assumption (you could also add a 5 or 10% kicker to be a little bit more aggressive...all of this will be rough justice and imprecise. Bottom line, you will have a sense about a week or two out that you need to start paying attention to your email in-box a little bit more carefully. Best of luck! Edit: Glenda94, congratulations! Dude! Optimus and Watercool are both making blocks for the 30 series FTW3 and will be 1000% better quality than any thing EKWB makes. I'm going with the Heatkiller myself but the Optimus is a thing of beauty even if somewhat pricey.

There may be more people in the queue before you that aren't listed on the sheet, simply because they never added their info.
