You've waited nearly 8 months for a card that's better than the 3080 Ti and you're going to pass? I mean, it's your money and your choice. If it were me, I'd get the 3090 if I had the opportunity to buy and forget waiting even longer for a 3080 Ti.
"Better"; the cards are basically identical. Only difference is the 3090 has superfluous (for most people) amounts of RAM, which tends to overheat when mining, which is maybe the only reason a non-professional might but a 3090. Add in specialized cooling and you're looking at well over $2k. Look, I know we've reached the point where people will buy anything they can get their hands on, but we have to try to remember how things were near the beginning, because supply is in fact getting better and prices are in fact stabilizing. Yes, I might need to keep waiting but I won't feel like I bought something I don't need (the 3080 Ti is also, of course, overpriced, but that's what we've got I suppose).
I know the cards are nearly identical, and I’m not knocking you for passing. Just perplexed is all. I know I’d buy it, but, again, that’s me. Also, I still have a hard time understanding why everyone’s saying the 3080 Ti is overpriced compared with the 2080 Ti. Everyone was knocking that card’s price because it was something like a 25% performance increase for something like a 70% price increase over the previous generation. This time around, that isn’t the case. The 3080 Ti outperforms a 2080 Ti and is less expensive comparatively.

My wife is happy with her 3080Ti. I'm happy with my 3090. I can do more with mine than she can with hers (OC, video/large format photo editing) but she doesn't do those things. Both are great for 4K gaming. That said, I have seen my vram usage go over 14GB in some games. How much of that is percentage based reserve vs active use, I don't know.

:) If this had popped for me three months ago, I probably would have gotten it. Now though, I just feel myself getting back into the mindset of 9 months ago, when the 3090 was just stupidly overpriced. It's even more expensive now. I also want the hybrid cooler, and at that price I could have gotten the Kingpin (which I also passed on). To each their own of course, and I know that some people definitely need the extra RAM. I'd rather take the extra cash and put it towards my next GPU upgrade in the future.

I put in for email notifications on several 3060 & 3070 series cards months ago, and had confirmation emails returned.
