Just be warned that you'll pay shipping 3 times.  If you use any coupons/discounts for the 3070Ti I'm not sure how that'll affect the step-up price either.

Wait until they tell you they have a card for you. Until then, you need a card, right?

If I register stepup program right now, but EVGA emails me more than 90 days later(assume 80ti will be available at that time), do I still validate for the stepup or I will be automatically out of the queue?

Have you actually read the EVGA step up program page? Your questions all can be answered there?

 This is regarding step-up ques.
I put in for a step up from a 3060 XC (3657) to a 3090 FTW3 (3987) on May 20, 2021 slightly before 11:42 am. (11:42 is when the confirmation email was sent. There is nothing like the my notifies page for step up ques that allows me to look up the exact time.)
I got the email you get, when your turn comes up in the que, the Verify Invoice email, today July 7 at 1:51 pm.
 
I can confirm the following.
-The weight time was less than two months, so yes, you cut the line of those in the regular que and quite severely.
-There was no way I could apply coupon codes, associate codes, or EVGA bucks to my step up payment.
 
To the second point, that is brutal, but coupon codes are gifts. I am not happy though.
 
To the first point, I would not necessarily approve of that either. There is one weak point I could make in its favor, which is that it is unlikely for a scalper to step up a card, and the pool of individuals in the step up que, I would think, are less likely to be resellers than the regular que.
 
Because I could not apply a coupon code to the step-up purchase, going through with the step-up was not a slam dunk or easy decision. 20% off applied to a 3090 FTW3 ore K|NGP|N is around the price of the 3060, so if I used one on a non-step-up purchase, I would pay the same amount but get to keep the 3060. The problem is that where I am in the regular ques, a 3090 from a regular que will not come for another 2-4 months, and the coupon is supposed to expire in 5 days. (Although somebody claimed a few pages back that it does not really expire, but it could have been a mistake.)
 
I also wanted a blocked card, because my system currently contains an overkill loop for the CPU. With the step-up purchase, I will have to block it with an aftermarket block, so I will need to choose a block.
EKWB:
pros:
-A active backplate will come out in September.
-It is in stock.
cons:
-It is infamous for bricking the FTW3 and may come with an out of date standoff design. The standoff thing is EK's 'fix,' but it could be bogus.
 
Optimus
pros:
-Optional beefy ribbed backplate.
-Does not have the bad press of EK's FTW3 block.
cons:
-It is out of stock (of course)
-It is very pricey.
 
Anyway, I made the step-up purchase, and that will likely cause the 3989 and 3999 ques to move suddenly very rapidly. You can thank me when that happens.
