I recently purchased an Intel Xeon x5675 to replace an i7 930 on an EVGA x58 SLI LE Rev 1.1 (141-BL-E757-TR) with the intent of performing the "Westmere" mod on the motherboard. Once I checked the location that I was supposed to short near the Northbridge, I discovered that it already was connected. The previous posts I referenced mentioned another spot to short, but after messaging a few people who did the mod, I determined that I only had to short the one spot which was already done, so I popped the x5675 in and it booted right into Windows!
 
My only issue now is although it shows the correct processor, Windows 10/EVGA E-Leet/CPU-Z only shows 4 cores / 8 threads instead of 6 cores / 12 threads. It does show all 12 processors in System Hardware. Is there a BIOS setting or Windows setting to show/enable all cores and threads? I have tried clearing the CMOS (with power plugged in, not sure if it matters or if I should try with the PC entirely unplugged) and it still shows the same. I will try disabling and enabling HT as suggested in another post. Any other suggestions are appreciated, thanks in advance!

It doesn't, it only shows 4. When I get home from work today I'm going to try the power off CMOS reset and toggling HT. One reason leading me to believe that I need to reset the CMOS is that the CPU stepping shows as 21x133 after setting to default settings, which is the default for the i7 930 whereas it should be 23x133 for the x5675. Other than the aforementioned potential solutions, I don't have any idea what would be causing it. 

The short near the Northbridge as mentioned in that post for rev. 1.0 was already done on my board which is rev. 1.1, however, I'll double check the spot near U20. I've seen some conflicting information for this and some have mentioned getting it to fully function with only the short near the Northbridge.

I was able to resolve this, it was an issue with Windows 10. When going from 4 to 6 cores it retained some settings, I had to uncheck the "number of processors" in msconfig boot options and restart in order to get it to recognize.
 

 

They still want like 300$ for all the good x58 mobo's I wouldn't worry about it dude it's still not very fascinating till 3.8-4.2ghz. 
on 5520 ich9 can't do anything....
 
But hey it's something to run dude. still some good chips the series.
