just installed a 1080 TI ran 3dMark with EVGA website driver at 17,540 and then intalled latest from NVidia via the NVidia Experience program, and 3dMark dropped a bit to 17,420 and odd windows message about if I wanted to reduce color palate to save on something or other.   So wondering if I should reinstall from EVGA site.

I would uninstall the Nvidia Experience and get the driver from Nvidia.
Just install the driver and physX, maybe the sound driver if you need the HDMI to supply sound to TV....
That's what I do with mine.
I have seen so many people have issues with NV Experience, also sound driver conflict issues if using on board, or sound card and install the nvidia sound..

To add to what "bill1024" suggests I'd use DDU to remove everything in safe mode and install latest video and physX drivers from nVidia using the "custom" preference..

Just to clarify. Nvidia makes the drivers for ALL AIB's. The drivers you download here are identical to the same versions on Nvidia's web site. It is not uncommon for Nvidia to have a newer version up for some time before EVGA updates the website here.  It's pretty hard to give any advice when we literally know nothing else about your system.

The drivers are the same. Scores in 3dmark can vary from run to run.

3DMarks scores have variability because of the physics tests and other related with hardware. If you run 3dMark multiple times does the score remain stable at 17,420?

    CPU: i5-7400 @ 3.0 Ghz stock 3.5 Ghz Turbo
MOB: Acer Aspire TC-780 (H110 Chipset prebuilt bleh)
    RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz (Kingston)
GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SC

The odds of hitting the exact same score every time are slim...
