Yeah, I've been considering going with the upcoming Corsair RGB keyboard and simply giving up the lcd monitor, but knowing there's something in development with both might just stay my hand. The jury is in, EVGA, we're here with money-in-hand. :p

ARCTIC_EAGLE So I could go with Logitech which has a better layouts, more options, probably higher quality, better warranty and CS, and a proper Windows symbol or I go with EVGA which has none of that.
Better layout? There is only so much keyboard layouts differ, and it's all personal opinion. They might have more options, but still none of their options have everything that EVGA's has. Show me a Logitech keyboard with mechanical keys and a LCD. Logitech has been lacking in high quality the past few years; and I haven't had any problems with my EVGA products (nForce 680i, X58, X79 FTW, X79 Dark, lots of GPUs). I haven't used Logitech's CS or warranty in a few years, but I doubt it's gotten much better (didn't impress me at all but wasn't terrible). I'm guessing you haven't seen Logitech's keyboards because they are using the same new Windows symbol that everyone is using now; it's the same as the symbol on the EVGA keyboard.
We are looking at the same keyboard right? The macros are next to the arrow keys, why? unless you use the arrow keys to move those are useless also Logitech manages to get 18 macros on a keyboard of the same size. As for Logitech CS you should read my post more carefully also my P67 was 6 months late and then recalled a few days after it came out, my GTX 570 exploded twice, and the forums have been full of complaints about the newer motherboards the P67 was full of issues, then there was the USB issues and SATA issues, there are more but I stopped paying attention. Also go look at EVGA's mouse it costs $120 and for what? It has the same warranty as a Logitech one, fewer keys, better DPI, better weight range, oh and the Logitech one costs $79.99. I have a feeling their keyboard is going to be the same way.

The base price is $89.99 and $119.99 however, but who knows, it could be one of those things that's on sale for 364 days a year, making the MSRP Meaningless. I'm not really a fan of the "double the price and offer 50% off all the time" method to make people think they are getting a good deal.

I go by MSRP because its the only way to compare them, the Logitech is ~$160 on newegg but $79.99 on amazon, EVGA's is $69.99 on newegg but not listed on amazon. Anyway, I agree with the weirdness about such a high price and then giving it 50% off though even with the 50% I'd say the Logitech is still a better deal and it seems that customers really like it.

If early prototype, then can changes be made? For instance, I hate the noise from keyboards while I type, not only is there a noise when my fingers touch the key, but the retraction of depressing the button makes noise-- all that has to go for me to bother with anything by a simple wired USB $10 whatever-the-hell. I recommend putting thin rubber sheets on the keys to suppress finger noises and cushioning both under the keys and under the framework to suppress noise there too. When it is dead quiet, like at night, I don't want anyone to tell I'm typing. I like the media buttons on the EVGA keyboard, don't see much of a LED backlit stuff; is there an option for a different color than black? I'd like Dell silver, please.

I suggest that Evga review the keyboards DAS makes and work with a similar style but injecting some gaming aspects. I really like my DAS keyboards, and unless something can prove to be of higher quality or better functionality I don't think I will ever switch. Hope this helps.

More ideas: - Tegra NOTE or general android device compatibility at the touch of a button via built-in Bluetooth; in addition to relying on the onboard keyboard LCD screen (if any), data can be sent to the android device for viewing instead of wasting alt-tab space on another monitor. I suppose an app would have to be made to accept/view the data from the PC.
- Though alternatively, I wouldn't mind a keyboard I can use for both my tablet and PC, which there is none at the moment, so general Bluetooth connectivity would be nice.
- Now that I think about it, I've never seen a keyboard that was both able to run wired and wirelessly, I suppose that preference will vary.

"built-in Bluetooth" seems to be going away on some Motherboards so I have to wonder if something new is replacing Bluetooth this year?

ManBearPig Looks promising, still needs work of course. It has the two things that I really want: LCD screen and mechanical keys. I still have no idea why Logitech hasn't made one. With Logitech you have to chose between either a LCD screen OR mechanical keys; they won't give you both. I will be keeping my eyes out for this keyboard since I have been wanting to upgrade from my G15 for a mechanical keyboard; I just can't give up my LCD screen since I monitor my temps/loads a lot while I game.
Logitech Ya I asked them for a bigger mechanical G-13 A Mili changes everything.Quadruple that screen, forget everything you've seen..Pong ya I want it all. See I can still dream.

ok here i will make a realistic post. start over. stop making products that are so generic they all look the same. the mouse looks unique. but the keyboard, not so much. it looks like everything else on the market. do something bold and out of the box that has the ability to draw the attention it deserves. not something that looks like it was a generic copy with a few small things charged to make it a little different. good mechanical switches, WASD in bold colors that stand out. bring back the old evga way. make it totally boss and very functional. personally i like the idea of backlit controls through EVGA presicion or a like program like razor has, but made to work more streamline unlike razors program. with the razor program i have to log into a online website and yada yada to get to the settings. if evga did it i would make it to where the application is on my desktop and needs no web service for anything other then software updates. also a slightly larger framework i dont think would be hated upon by guys like me with pretty big hands. i find myself hitting multiple keys now and again do to them being pretty small. as of right now i am using a razor black widow ultimate newer version. usb connections in the keyboard, possibly integrate a sound card into the keyboard for better audio? There is tons of possibilities.

I'm just hoping they make several casings to go along with several color theme builds.
Obviously black/red runs pretty strongly at EVGA and all, but there's a growing contingent of white builds out there, and it would be nice to see them accommodated.

Violence. ok here i will make a realistic post. ... start over. stop making products that are so generic they all look the same. You must have missed the "early prototype" part of the thread title. Post-production won't be so visually different from prototype; even their chassis was slightly smaller on prototype due to positioning the 1U PSU above the graphics card, but changes were made to allow for more CPU cooler choices. EVGA would have to do something extreme to be different considering they aren't making this keyboard for typists despite being able to function that way. They might as well focus on the primary target (PC Gamers) with something that is useful as a PC gaming interface, but not a keyboard. It could be anything from a wide controller with a whole lot of buttons, to a neck-mounted device that governs life-like view-motion coupled with a miniature keypad for everything else. Though the ultimate problem with non-generic is risk, you get a lower return in investment and a high break-even for things that haven't been done before unless it is demonstrated beforehand, which means the company has to make a working prototype, with game support-- that costs a lot of money up front with no guarantees of working. A mouse/ keyboard isn't a heavy risk investment opportunity, per se; they may not stand to loose much if it doesn't work. EVGA might as well make SSDs, RAM, fans, their own Asetek rebranded liquid cooler, speakers/headsets, mutli-projector blending, or anything else required to make a [PC enthusiast-class] computer work. I'd like a keyboard that makes no sound when I type, that would be my only wish.
