From a marketing standpoint... EVGA would stand to rule even more of the market if they chose to sell ATI cards. XFX would lose buisness for sure. Money must not be an issue with EVGA. But I'm very sure with the launch of fermi that their projected sales arent all that well. I could be wrong but I have seen alot more poeple leaning towards ATI.
I havent owned an ATI card since 9800pro which I sold and got a 6600gt. From then on its been NVIDIA. Until recent I picked up and ATI 5870 that wasnt reg'd yet for a cheap price. And I must say I'm impressed with the performance and its temperatures are far better than my old gtx 285 to boot. I think that I made the right descision with the card I went with.
In a year I'll be upgradeing to a newer better card and who knows by then maybe NVIDIA will be back in the game. Fermi is not a polished product maybe the revision cards will be much better. EVGA is my favorite third party company. But I can't justify getting a 400 series card just to be able to deal with them. EVGA = WIN and at this point in time ATI = WIN period.
Please dont reply with anything about drivers and or how a 480 beats a 5870. I dont care. If the 5870 used as much power and produced as much heat as the fermi cards It would perform just as well and probably better than a 480. With that said. Hope EVGA does well with their sales and everyone who buys either companies card is satisfied. Peace....
