Obviously Nvidia is losing there grip and Evga is gonna start losing money. I love evga products but i recently switched to ATI it would be nice to buy EVGA 5970/5870. I though I would regret it latey but after Fermi is out I was shocked. if they lowered there card 100$ it might be worth is but without Eyefinity/3d Surround support and how HOW and how much power everything needs it would still be a toss up

I agree with you and people need to write evga management and tell them to carry ati cards. I did it but I'm probably one of just a handful who have. If a gtx 480 were $350 then it would be a good buy but as it stands now I'm searching for a new ati card to replace my dead 4890. I've been trying to get by on my evga 8800gts 512 but metro 2033 has convinced me otherwise. I hoped that fermi would be great but it is not. I can't seem to find any 5970's that are in stock or priced near their msrp. Everybody is gouging since ati had no competition and fermi just confirmed that to the resellers.

I agree EVGA should carry ATI and frankly I doubt they can continue as an Nvidia only partner for the forseeable future. If huge OEM's like ASUS and Gigabyte carry both what is EVGA's problem?

I would like EVGA to offer more choice and also sell ATI cards, not sure it will ever happen though but that may end up costing EVGA sales in the long run. I hope whatever "perks" Nvidia is giving its only exclusive partner are worthwhile, I would have hoped it would mean they got better deals on reference cards but looking at EVGA pricing if thats happening they are not passing it on to their customers. EVGA is consistently more expensive than the competition, this may be ok in the US with their great support but the support is lacking in Europe, just like most things EVGA (the European website i another example).

I'd like to see ATI from EVGA as well. The service is the best I've ever seen in the computer industry by far, and it'd be nice to have more product choices with that level of service.

Lol, the funny thing is this topic has only come up because of the 480 launch. Trust me, when nvidia launches another milestone like they did with the 8800, this topic wont pop up. But I do agree and I have said it before, EVGA should sell ATI cards because I love evga and their support, but its not enough to make me stick with just geforce cards. But we dont know what kind of contract they have setup with nvidia, that might be a reason they cant switch. But if other companies have switched, then we have hope.

To be honest I think that AMD has had some "issues" with EVGA and I don't think it would happen unless EVGA were in ultra bad shape on GPU sales. Having said that unless Nvidia defy the laws of physics there is no way their "big die" strategy cannot epically fail. Therefore AMD will keep launching new architectures 6 months earlier than Nvidia and completely destroy Nvidia's market share. But this will take at least 3 years to happen due to Nvidia's large current market share. AMD have loyalty to their original AIB's (Sapphire, Powercolor) who have stood by them during the R600 failure. I can't see AMD giving EVGA the privilege of selling their cards sad to say

This topic seems to float up periodically, but there's a reason why EVGA can not build and sell ATI-based hardware. This has something to do with AMD choosing a partner to sell their wares through and not EVGA choosing not to sell the product. There's another thread over tin the 2xxx Chipset forum on this matter. I'm glad too that EVGA does not sell ATI cards. I used to be a big fan of ATI before AMD bought them out and in fact all of my PCs had ATI cards. Then the big driver issues started and hasn't stopped since. ATI burned me with a job I was doing. The machine would downright freeze every time I chose Open/GL for the job, and DirectX drivers were way too slow to do the job. It wasn't like I could install the software on another machine with a different video card because the software was tied to the hardware. It used the NIC MAC address and motherboard information along with a dongle to operate. After that ATI became a second-class citizen for me, and I've never used their hardware since. Also I've never been a big fan of AMD. I've always found issues with their hardware. Perhaps they are better now than before, but overall I'm still paranoid about them and would never go back. Granted NVidia has had some clunky drivers recently, but overall these issues get fixed up pretty quickly. This is unlike ATI whcih ignores the underlying problem and only makes new drivers with bigger bells and bouncy baloney on them. John

It's for this reason alone that you all were able to pre-order a Fermi already, while XFX has had no availability yet. Granted, this round isn't very remarkable but think of when the real Fermi die shrunk 512 core beasts come out. You'll be so glad EVGA isn't tied with ATI.

I think it would be nice if they were able to do both. That way you could stick with a brand you know and trust, and still get the benefits that ATI or Nvidia might have in a given generation of cards. On the other hand, sometimes it's better to focus on what you are already good at. I can see both sides of it. If I were building my dream computer today though, I would have an ATI card in it by personal preference. Eyefinity looks like a feature I'd like to play with.

if the fermi smashed the 5000 card's in DX10 we wouldn't be having this thred!!! but i hope evga stays with nvidia only they dont need the extra hassle of ati ,its not just the extra cards its also the training they will need to implement for there tech support guys, also there rma people, the way they are know they are number 1 nvidia partner and give the best service, they would not be able to provide the same service levels as before and again they would lose loyal customers. I believe evga are more interested in pursuing there motherboard development and becoming more widely available around the globe than opening a potential can of worms.

Personally I think EVGA also carrying ATI cards would be a pretty cool thing. I always wished EVGA carried more AMD compatible motherboards too. But the thing is, is it possible that the reason why EVGA only carries Intel motherboards and Nvidia video cards ect is because they are contracted with them to do so? That could be the very reason why they don't carry ATI/AMD products.

Count me in with the "wish they would sell ATI" crowd. When I started out with ATI cards a year + ago I felt like I was the only one that had an ATI card and EVGA mbo. That has really changed recently and given the lack of a killer card by Nvidia this go around the trend will only accelerate. Personnaly, I would dump my ATI cards in a heartbeat (only because I am looking for new toys, not because of performance) but the Nvidia offering isn't practical for multi-gpu setups. Money is not an issue for me... its the damn heat and power consumption. ...and yes, I do water cool.
