Kashtan Thanks. My english is bad i know. I mean support ram memory - possible this memory run on Dark? CMK16GX4M2Z5000C18
Ahh okay, Well that 5,000 MHz memory kit might work on the Z490 Dark, but from all the information available right now that is not guaranteed. To be 100% sure you would need to wait for the qualified memory kits list that is usually published on the support tab of the motherboard product page. That list is not up yet. Also EVGA's marketing is being cagey about top memory speeds; the Z490 should be a beast at memory overclocking given that it is limiting traces to 2 DIMMS and that the board is using 10 traces! However the marketing so far only says support for memory at MHz 4,600+... whatever the "plus" means is that they are not guaranteeing anything. I think Asus's Apex (which is traditionally one of the best memory overclocking boards in each generation) is boasting MHz 5,000 memory support, but again you might need to check memory qualification lists to be sure. For normal memory kits such lists are not really that important, but when you are pushing memory speeds as hard as you seem to want to, then these lists might be more relevant. Some of the other top tier boards (Godlike etc) are also promising faster memory support which suggests to me that EVGA's marketing us just being cautious to under promise and over deliver. Hope this helps.

I like RAM slots, E-ATX Form factor and power connectors section on Z490 Dark. Definitely nice choice for high end system.

Thank you. I looked at all the datasheets of the flagship motherboards of other vendors, almost all of them have conditions under which 5000 memory can work. Without Apex XII. Also, all have got much weaker VRM then Dark, apex 18x70A, other (Aqua, Godlike, Xtreme) - 16x90A. Dark - 18x90A. So, only too things may can prevent the purchase of Dark - its physical availability, and a high price, because Apex XII for 400USD is sweet. In others - i think Dark is best.

It is true that the Apex is using 70A power stages rather than 90A like on the other boards. Buildzoid has suggested that all these VRMs are so efficient and powerful anyways that even liquid nitrogen overclockers are unlikely to face any restrictions based on this difference. More important is the phase count. But regardless, I agree the Dark is typically engineered to a gold standard and it is the board I would most like to own out of any of them, if price is not a concern. We yet don't know the price of the Dark yet. (The Anandtech article which suggests >$900 is almost certainly wrong.) Being relatively poor on "features" with no TB and only 2.5 GbE LAN (and no frick'n later beams, aka RGB!) it is likely to be pitched nearer the Apex than the Godlike IMO. We'll see. BTW, Finnish overlocker video published today overclocking the 10900K with Z490 Dark on liquid and achieving 5.5GHz!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2MPXKqBcRI&t=3s

New trand in IT industry is to talk about shocking price. Companies think it's easier then to increase prise without complain of customers if they talk about some shocking price. No, no one will pay 600$ for high end Intel motherboard. Intel no enough power and features for something like that. 400$ is real price, but they will cost 500$ because new customers wait new platform and want to pay immediately.

so looking everywere i see no mention of socketed bios this time, the spot on the PCB appears unoccupied and i see atleast one bios chip soldered on next to the bios selector. did EVGA can socketed bios for some reason? we lost socketed bios and got lame AF RGB on an XOC board really??? thats supremely disappointing, having the socketed bios chip saved my bacon with the x299dark on cascade lake since the factory bioses didnt support CLX (despite marketing). and this is supposedly a socket that will support atleast one more gen. no talk about pcie4 on this board despite literally every other vendor including it. quite odd. makes me wonder if EVGA knows something or its a cost cut and PCB recycle.. actually NVM i can see the other two chips right under the PCH by looking closely at the blank PCB layout/testbench thingy that comes with dark boards. no socketed bios. thats really disappointing

You talk about PCI-E 4.0 on Intel Z490 Chipset? That depend of Processors. Intel not support PCI-E 4.0 until at least next generation. Motherboards with new chipset will show up next year as always. Samsung as main player or Intel still didn't enter in race with storage devices NVMe Gen 4.0. You can buy now some models like CORSAIR and then when more models show up they will be 30-40% faster instantly in random write/read. On first place I thought I made mistake with Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB, but as time pass I think more and more that mine decision to go on Samsung 970 Series was good.

i know. what im saying is all the other brands are atleast saying their boards are PCIE 4 ready for gen 11 CPUs. or are trying to imply they are. EVGA has made zero mention of PCIE 4 at all. i find that intriguing.

Maybe your conclusion have sense. Because new socket is launched and there is a chace to people use these motherboards for next gen processors. But I always suspect in something like that. Always people have more problems with OC, voltage, stability, etc...or can't use some features properly. But new Chipset will be launched in 2021 100%. Always some people upgrade first processors only with plan to keep old motherboards and then faced with problems pay and new motherboard and new generation with small upgrade cost them a lot. I fear to buy Intel Z chipset because performance and features. Intel no big improvement and big changes in production of processors. Because of that before huge step forward DDR5 I expect to Intel compete with AMD Threadripper and Ryzen.

I am ready to upgrade from the X58, But want a board that will be Just as good, last just as long, be just as future proof, So I will need Tiger Lake information, before I pull the trigger, I understand EVGA will not comment on this, But they need to understand I will not be ordering until they do. MSI and others have already made limited comments, and the MSI Godlike is Interesting, but I have been so amazed with my X58, I would like to stay with them.... I am now running a 2080 super in a PCIe 2.0 16X slot which is about the same as a 3.0 8X Slot, I would add another But that would drop me to a PCIe 8X which is about the same as a PCIe 4X, NV Link sounds cool, But there is no way I would test it on PCIe 2.0 standards. I am ready to spend, and Buy. Would probably go i7 Comet Lake, and wait for the Tiler Lake i9 to come out to replace it. But before I spend a dime, I need to know what I am getting, what it will upgrade to, and if I would be better off buying something else, or waiting..... Would also like to know if there is any work on a 490 or later, that has a Slot or space between PCIe slots, so the cards can be spaced for better cooling at 16x/16x. Was never a fan of sandwiching them right up against one another? Another question… Was the X58 the last Board EVGA sold with a Life time Warranty, or Just the last one that might actually need it?

Just to be fair - X58 was never a client platform, it's HEDT that came right from servers. So it's in line with X79/X99/299 and similar, not the Z-chipsets. HEDT platforms also usually have longer life. In fact X299 is rather a champion on that, having same board to support 4 different processors, in shape of KBL-X (RIP) ,SKX ,SKX-R and CLX. You lucky if Z-platform supports 2 CPU generations :)

Latency of USB or alike is often very horrible compared to 10GbE LAN card. So yea, people still would have 10 GbE cards (and modern 40GbE/100GbE+ variants).

I really hope that both the Z490 boards will be available in Europe soon. I have been using EVGA motherboards in all my builds in the past. Is this the end? I really hope not! Times are bad but... I really don't want to look to other manufacturers but I feel like EU-customers are being excluded. With import duties and VAT the price will be so high :(

Well, I have moved on. Could of kept my X299 to be honest, didn't need to upgrade I guess. But saw the writing was on the wall and bought new stuff, stuff happens I guess.

This looks like a really good board, as are all the EVGA boards I've owned. I will make one criticism, that I've brought up since the z170 came out: why is the additional 6 pin power connector at the bottom left side of the board parallel with the board? It makes it incredibly awkward to plug in, especially since it sits directly under the PSU. This connection should sit perpendicular to the board, it would make it easier to get and have connected in that position, and it wouldn't create an awkward bend in the PSU cable. Sorry, like I said, this connection has been a pain since the z170.

EVGA Z490 Dark K|NGP|N Edition is really expensive but amazing motherboard. Nice work EVGA. PCB looks great, RAM slots in a horizontal position are a better choice and of course power connectors on the same place are better for cable management. Good choice for high-end platform.
