Just like the subject - I forgot to cry about a 1st world-problem.
 
3080ti arrived, and the box was... Empty, save for the gpu!

I rushed to open the UPS box, gently cut-open the 3080ti box like I was opening a christmas present 25 years back (11 yrs old,)

For all to see, I only witnessed a big ol' radiator labeled 3080TI FTW3... Content and excited! I scrambled to safely put it aside resleeving it back into its protective electro static packaging.

I continue my search in the 3080ti box looking for the latest inspiration of a monster/demon/cyborg like norm to find --- Nothing, nothing at all?!?!

I've had 260/480/580/780ti/1070/1080ti, and they all have weird and unique posters I happily keep nailed to my walls as a historic set piece.

I skipped Maxwell and Turing.

Did something change? No more inspiration for cool posters but also, I'm just surprised how minimal the box was... Nicely packaged btw! (Thank you EVGA and folks.)
 
Its like, when you open a cereal box, yes, you want the damn cereal as a greedy kid, but you also want the 'toy' or surprise Nintendo or Genesis gaming certificate buried beneath the magical stuff you will consume later.

On a side note, it took me 2-3 days to tame the beast 3080ti: Temps from idle 54c (load 70~86c) on dual monitor setup to idle 30-32c (load 62-73c.)

This struck me yesterday, when I received my 3080 FTW3 Ultra (Two days from Taiwan to my doorstep in UK, go DHL express!).
I purchased a 1080ti FTW3 on release (3080 just replaced it) and remember thinking the poster and stickers were pretty cool.  I actually still have them in the box, as new as the day I bought the card.
 
I'm not bothered at all by the 'lack' of extras, just found it funny that there's a thread of the forum about it when I was just thinking about the same thing yesterday lol.
 
As you said, first world problems, let's just take solace in the fact we've managed to get cards!

I use these posters as an icebreaker whenever I have visitors... they always ask... "What game is that creepy ghoul on your wall, and... what does that say... "3....v...E... A?"

I always reply, "no, no, no young lady, this... EVGA, the saviors of PC gaming nerds around the world!"

Did the most expensive gpu's also usually come with a game code for a $60+ game?  Although EVGA was giving out the Falconeer for a time with a 3xxx card.

i'm so glad the useless is gone. not just the posters, but also the molex to PCI-E adapters that you shouldn't be using anyway. as the person above me correctly pointed out, 99% of this stuff ends up in landfills anyway. i had a bunch of those dumb posters from EVGA and other brands. threw them out every single time. in my area that was not considered a recyclable item
 
having said that, an evga/kingpin branded USB flash drive or screw driver or something like that would have been cool and actually useful

I mean, I have a lot of EVGA stuffs and random gear I've saved over the years :D (and 3dfx, BFG Tech, etc) Kinda fun to keep these things
 
This also goes for old hardware, I still have every PC I've ever owned except one (my last rig I gave to a friend).  Sure you can play Doom3 on a new computer but I would rather play it on my Abit AS8 mobo with a 3.4Ghz CPU and a BFG 6800 GT OC (sorry EVGA didn't get you back then I loved my BFG)
 
If I am going to play Unreal or Glide game of course I'm going to use a 3dfx rig :D
 
I'm with you tho some extra swag would be nice. I don't know why they went away from extra fun stuffs (maybe it is waste/cost/etc)

Whatever cost saving measures they can take to keep the prices down without affecting quality/performance, I'm all for.
