Sir/Ma'am,

Good day.  I have finally upgraded my old (very old EVGA motherboard) to the EVGA x299 FTW K (incoming via Amazon)  along with a I9-10980 XE.  Now I obtained a copy of the motherboard manual from the EVGA website and it only shows memory configurations/specifications for Skylake and Kaby Lake CPUs.  Would it be possible to get the configuration chart and specifications for memory for the Cascade Lake CPUs?  I apologize if this is somewhere in the board already, I have looked but didn't find.

I hope to use 64 Gb or 32 Gb memory modules but the current chart has it maxed out at 16 gb , but reading threads people have been using at least 32 gb.

Thank you for your time and assistance,

-Todd

Kaby Lake CPUs were not able to support all x8 DIMM slots on the motherboard whereas Skylake could, this is why the chart was included. Cascade Lake CPUs are able to support all x8 DIMM slots just like Skylake. When looking at the EVGA manuals the general rule of thumb is to just follow the details provided for Skylake when using a Cascade Lake CPU and you should be good. If you are in doubt or have any specific questions you can always post on here or submit a support ticket to EVGA directly.

Sir/Ma'am,

Would you happen to know what the memory limit per module slot is for the Cascade Lake CPUs?

That I am not 100% sure on and it maybe different than what it was for Skylake. However according to Intel the max total supported RAM for the I9-10980 is 256GB... given that the motherboard has x8 DIMM slots I would assume that the max RAM per DIMM is 32GB if you are using all x8 DIMMs. I am not sure what the per DIMM limit would be if you were not using all x8 DIMMs.

Sir/Ma'am,

Good day.  Once I get my system set up I will post the results for the memory.  I just didn't want to drop the money for 8 sticks of 32 gb without some additional thought.  More to follow.

EVGA- It would be nice to update the manuals  for the less technically inclined like myself.

Still an unknown is if we can use 64 Gb modules (keeping in mind the CPU limits).

Thank you for your time.

There are some posts here with members trying 32GB modules and having some difficulty, it may be worthwhile to read the past posts for their results.

I have 32GB modules and I have had zero issues once I switched to G.Skill. I had issues when trying to use Corsair.

Maximum supported memory by Cascade Lake X is 256 GB. I assume that means when using 8 memory sticks which translates in max 32GB modules.

I have passed it along for the update request. Unfortunately we have not tested 32GB sticks on the MB however the G.Skill configurator here does show some 32GB packs that they list will work with the motherboard. Since we have not tested them we can't guarantee they will work however G.Skill does recommend it for the board. Other makers also have listing of motherboards or chipsets they recommend or certify their specific memory for so if you see other brands of memory you would like to use with the board you can check on their site for the part number and see if they have tested it.

To those that are interested: I can't speak on behalf of EVGA, nor do I know how EVGA tests compatibility, but FWIW I have tested two G.Skill 128GB kits (4x32GB, exact part number can be found in my other threads) with three different X299 Dark mbs in following way:

10 passes (45 hours worth) of MemTest86 Pro
48 hours of GSAT
24 hours of OCCT large data set (extreme) with SSE instructions
24 hours of OCCT large data set (extreme) with AVX instructions
24 hours of OCCT large data set (extreme) with AVX2 instructions
24 hours of OCCT large data set (extreme) with AVX512 instructions
24 hours of P95 large data set with SSE instructions
24 hours of P95 large data set with AVX instructions
24 hours of P95 large data set with AVX2 instructions
24 hours of P95 large data set with AVX512 instructions

... and didn't have a single error.
