Re: EVGA X299 Dark WiFi card and RAM Issues and various 2018/10/09 02:20:46 (permalink)
Guys, MAYBE, I've found the issue:
I've installed the Intel Adapter 9560 that come with the new Stinger H370, that work on CNVio protocol instead of PCIe and USB like the 9260, because in the new chipset this is connected directly to the CPU.
So, I guess, is the reason why I cannot see it! Maybe someone else can confirm this crazy thought?
This means, I need to REMOVE everything to change it . I will have fun this night I guess, flushing the system, etc!

Yeah well, I will try it night time. As you see removing the motherboard does it mean disassemble everything!

Not a Case I would install the X299 Dark Motherboard in, even if you put them Two Graphics Cards under Water
You are going to have Extreme High Temperatures inside that Case.
The Fans at the Bottom and the Fan on the Bottom GPU are going to get Zero Air Flow pulling from each other.
The rest of the Case has no Fresh Air, No Fresh Air to the Upper GPU and the Chipset Fan.

Well, I can agree on the bottom one, maybe I can invert the flow. But front are working as intake, even "hotter" after the radiator, the air will help a lot for the GPU, now at 40 degree in idle. The case is totally open top, bottom front and left side, so a bit of air will always pass through.

The CPU not overclocked stay at 25 and 50 under AIDA. Overclocked on every core at 4.5GHZ, reach 95 degree. I need to check the VRM, but I am pretty sure to be super safe.

BTW, here the damned card! Now it's time to swap! Actually the pin are different in fact! I will reassemble everything and I will let you know!

ET VOILA!!
Writing connected with my new WiFi and BT adapter!
So, YES, the new Intel 9560 is not compatible with the x299 platform, only with the B, H and Z released after the Z370.
I confirm that the 9260 is working like a charm with the X299 Dark!!
Thanks to everyone involved in this thread! Maybe we can mark it for everyone else want to install a wifi card???

Here in the first page explained WHY the CNVio card as the 9560 will never work in the old Motherboards!

A quick update.
Here the temp after 1 hour of rendering in Hybrid mode, 2XGPU and CPU at 4.2GHZ.
The temp of the GPU are high, but all the rest are super ok! VRM at 70, PCH at 60, but the system rock solid!
This board is AMAZING!

How is the WiFi on that card. Can’t imagine much of a difference in connection speed going with the lower model number WiFi card

Well, actually is THE SAME CARD, SAME SPEED, BT 5.0, ETC. But the 9560 use the CNVio to communicate with the CPU, the 9260 use the normal PCIe+USB protocol.

The AC 9260 is super suggested by me! ;) but you should look as well for the antenna and NGFF wires. Just checked on amazon and eBay, that support the AC speed.

Fabio: which ones did you go for? I was not aware that antenna and wires were not already included in the 9260 kit.

Yeah I’m still debating on mb. I love the dark but WiFi is a must have atm.. I was looking at gigabyte because of the onboard WiFi but I really love the dark lol. Any issues with WiFi from the board once you got it up and running

Well, actually I had an H370 stinger and I’ve used its wire and antennas. On amazon is plenty of 2.4 5ghz ngff antennas. Almost all of them works. The Important things is to buy the AC 9260 intel card. It is pretty easy to install in the MB. What is less easier is to hold the wires with bolts to the I/O shield, but not so terrible! :)
