+1 to what rjohnson11 said (you should open a ticket with EVGA). Also, you might want to post that in thread EVGATech_LeeM used to announce new BIOSes, it is more likely to catch attention.

Need a lot more details, such as what kinds of devices are dropping out, which ports on the board you're using, how often the dropouts occur (minute-by-minute, every few days, etc.) what kind of troubleshooting you've tried, etc.  No problem to pass this along to our MB team, but they need an environment to try and reproduce the issues.

Which Windows power plan are you using? Have you tried disabling USB selective suspend in power plan? Have you tried disabling power management for your USB ports/hubs/devices in Device Manager?

You’re going to have to start giving details. One bit of info at a time is going to take forever to get to a conclusion of what is going on.

I have had an x299 Dark with numerous keyboards and mice, as well as SD card adapters and disc drives connected and never had a drop out. Above 4g enabled at all times.

Posting minimal info in ALL CAPS isn’t going to get to a useable answer that EVGA can use. They’ve already requested more info and you are giving one detail at a time.

If your problem during boot, in bios, in windows? Do you have “enable all usb devices” selected in the bios during boot? Are you using fast boot with minimal usb devices, the only time I ever had issues entering the bios during boot was because this was set to run minimal USB devices during bios boot, and setting all USB devices to start during boot solved that, but doesn’t require a whole bios revision to get there.

You need to be specific, because you are leaving out everything you need fixed.

While I absolutely agree with this …

the_Scarlet_oneI have had an x299 Dark with numerous keyboards and mice, as well as SD card adapters and disc drives connected and never had a drop out.

… this is something I can’t personally agree with. For start, after I perform fresh install of Windows I often lose USB devices (like USB key drive it was installed from) until I disable USB suspend in power plan and power management of USB devices in Device Manager. It happens only in Windows, doesn’t happen in BIOS nor in Linux, which I find odd.
And that is not the only oddity I experience with USB on my X299 Darks. Out of several X299 Darks that went through my hands so far all but one behaved in following way:

I would get firmware chip from EVGA that supports Cascade Lake-X, put it in, and every time I would plug/unplug USB key into one of the ports speaker would beep. Then I would flash BIOS to one I downloaded from EVGA site and from that point forward mb wouldn’t beep anymore when USB key was plugged/unplugged. Beeping on plug/unplug stopped occurring even I flashed BIOS to exactly same version as one EVGA sent me on chip! This I find EXTREMELY odd as that makes it obvious hardware and BIOS are capable of those beeps and something about flashing results in change of behavior.

And if that is making USB behavior act up who is to say something else about USB isn’t affected too?

I’ve opened ticket about it while ago but with no result, just crickets. Just like I got repeated crickets on ticket I opened about incorrect control of fans on my 2080.

Zoran, you said yourself that windows is giving you the issue. From the start, when you fresh install windows, you lose devices, but it doesn’t happen in Linux. That sounds exactly like a windows issue.

All of the problems you have listed are windows related. Power management in device manager is a windows function, not a bios function.

Except that this shouldn't be happening in Windows either and I am not aware of other motherboard + Windows behaving in this way, do you?

No, motherboard ceasing to beep on USB key insert/removal while -in BIOS- is NOT Windows related. There is no Windows running at that moment. Nor can finger be pointed to Windows when BIOS chip that came from EVGA and beeps on insert/removal ceases to beep after it is flashed to EXACTLY same version using BIOS menu utility. At that point in time there is no Windows running, there isn't even a Windows boot disk attached, all done and tested while solely in BIOS.

I have never had any motherboard that beep in the bios when insert or remove a USB device. Ever.

The bios doesn’t launch the drivers for audio devices.

Are you meaning through the speakers on the motherboard or through audio speakers? Most motherboards don’t have bios speakers anymore, so I am not sure what you are referring to when you say that it beeped in bios when you inserted or removed a usb drive.

My ASUS motherboards, which was my go to from 2013 to 2022, only had a single beep, IF I installed the included two pin speaker when installing the front I/O. That single beep was to audibly alert that the bios had launched and I could press Delete or F2. Often, on the x99 boards I used, the bios had minimal USB devices launched with fast boot, and the bios wouldn’t launch the keyboard, so I would have to unplug and reply the motherboard to get into the bios, never once did any of them beep during that process.

After going into the bios and enabling all USB devices during BIOS launch, I didn’t have the issue until the next bios update or bios reset.

But none of the boards would beep when installing or removing a USB device in the bios, so that part really confuses me with what you are referring to, as I have never heard it.

I never once said because it doesn’t happen to me that it doesn’t exist. I said you need to be specific because you are putting everything in caps, but not explaining what the problem is. Thank you for not putting everything in caps this time, it is greatly appreciated.

Once again you have given a tiny bit more information, but still haven’t laid out the full issue.

So once every three to four month, your keyboard won’t connect in bios? You are using windows default settings, but that doesn’t answer the bios question.

Have you enabled all usb devices during bios boot, and have you disabled fast boot to see if those help?

Lay out the issue from start to finish. 20 questions is not a fun game for anyone, especially for people that are attempting to help.

I am talking about speaker on motherboard. Fact that others might not be having speaker on board is irrelevant for this discussion, we are discussing X299 Dark that has it and its behavior.

Interesting, only one of mine does that and rest lost the ability once BIOS was flashed.

This thing happened to four different Keyboards, five beeps 2 sec interval with D6 error code, and when it happened it stuck with Black screen!!! It happened every three to four months and always happen when strart from cold boot. All CAPS have nothing to do with anything!! I am not a Singleton, and it didn't happen to you doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exits?????????????

Did you disable fast boot in BIOS? If not disable it. Also enable memory retraining on boot.

In that case try my suggestions to see if they will make your USB issues go away. However, I'm confused with one of your statements above ... you are complaining about USB devices but then mention D6 on boot. D6 has nothing to do with USB, they are completely unrelated, why are you mentioning it when asked to describe your issues with USB?!

BTW, short beeps on boot enumerate USB devices, one for each device. How many USB devices you have connected?

Issues with video connection at boot time (monitor not being turned on / being too slow to respond being one of them) are a possibility IF op's words that it is USB he is having problems with can't be trusted. Considering he never replied why he started talking about USB and then later started talking about D6 too it is impossible to say what could be going on.
