Hi everyone,

I would be forever grateful if some would explain to me how to get the EVGA White LED Logo to illuminate? I have just installed my video card(see build details below).  In the EVGA Precision XOC the led options are greyed out. Thank you in advance for any guidance.

  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING, 08G-P4-5170-KR, 8GB GDDR5
  • EVGA Precision XOC ver 6.2.3
  • driver 23.21.13.8813
  • 750w thermaltake gold certified power supply
  • ASUS Maximus Code IX LGA1151 motherboard

Download the led visualizer to control the leds on this card. Download it directly from nvidia

Thank you the_Scarlet_one for the quick reply.  I installed that software and set the led effects to ON and the style to no animation and the brightness all the way up to 100.  I restarted my pc. However, not even an ounce of light emits from the logo on the side of the card. So confused...scratching my head.

If you could look inside the shroud near the power plug, there should be a white plug on the pcb of the gpu. Can you see if it is plugged in by any chance?

Brand new?  Maybe the wire connection isn't secured.

This is brand new card. I updated to the just-released driver 23.21.13.8831.  I also used 2 different PCIe power ribbons and 2 different power modules on the power supply.

I was unable to locate the white plug on the pcb of the gpu.  This a blower style shroud so there is not much visibility inside.

Yeah I've had 2x of theses cards replaced and still can't get the LED to light up. Tried a couple different PSUs and Mobos.

I know it advertises having a light, but has anyone verified it actually has an led backing the lettering? I know it sounds stupid to ask that, but I would check just in case.

I called EVGA tech support and they are replacing my card.  They wanted me to remove the shroud to see if the led was unplugged.  I wasn't willing to risk damaging the card.  But after the reading the post above in regard to having his replaced twice I'm skeptical. I'll update once I get the replacement installed.

The shrouds are super easy to remove honestly. Next time it will save you tons of time waiting for an RMA to check, and then if you have to RMA only a little time was wasted verifying. Hopefully the replacement works.

***EDIT #2 - Okay, so I removed the shroud. It was a few small screws, not to bad and you don't have to touch the cooler plate. OMG... There is literally no LED. It's just a wall of plastic. i'm assuming there is a general shroud/board design and they are manufactured that way for efficiency and cost. They have replaced my GTX 1070s for literally no reason. lol. If you have the BASIC EVGA GTX 1070 BLOWER model (essentially the founders ed), there is no LED lit lettering. It just uses that same LED style plate but doesn't have anything attached behind the plastic letters nor a connection on the board. Just the micro connection for the fan.

yea, I think I may end up calling instead of just getting an RMA. something doesn't seem right. did he say that it does have an LED?

**Edit: Actually i'm not sure it does come with one. the hybrid blower one does but the only other review I found that was the “evga gtx 1070 blower” model, said the LED wasn't on either. might just be that only model does not include it. I'm going to call tomorrow.

The model I have 08G-P4-5170-KR, it states right on EVGA web site it is supposed to have a led:

That is exactly why I said to check... evga is known to have things labeled incorrectly.

At least you know why the nonexistent led can not light up.

This is my 2nd RMA. I'm about to go to post office to ship back this other GPU with my cross-ship GPU I had recently received already before this thread. A little disappointed that I'm now out a total $40 in shipping costs to EVGA because the service tech who approved my 2x different RMAs, for this reason, didn't realize that the GPU didn't even have LEDs in the first place. =/

**Don't get me wrong, EVGA customer service is top notch and the RMA process is one of the better ones out there compared to most!

I also got an RMA because they also didn't realize the card doesn't have LEDs.  I returned the RMA card promptly.  I will never buy another EVGA product.  This has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Now I'm stuck with something I'm not satisfied with.

I'm not impressed with their tech support.  They should have been the ones to test the card prior to shipping. EVGA misled their own tech support via the poor documentation.

The thing that is the most disappointing is the fact that this isn't some new card. This is one of the founder style cards. Which is odd because I'm not sure any other manufacturer produces a card that does not have the LED lighting built in for their blower style cards (base intro 1070s).
