Re: EVGA Select 700/900 Series Upgrade Promotion 2019/07/02 07:47:03 (permalink)
it's an evga gtx 980 ftw gaming acx 2.0 04G-P4-2986-KR in full working condition as in it's still being used in my pc. current temps are idle 30c max load for gaming session is 57c under furmark for 8hr it hits 60c. thought absolute max was supposed to be 62c that's why I said very high temps. there is no artifacts and no screen tear and is not oc'ed still stock. I was under the impression that if I opened it and replaced the tim that it voided the warranty. rejected as is evga sends me back my old unit and can't complete the upgrade and takes my money with out giving it back. I just want to make sure that if they can't complete the upgrade that they will give me back my money as their line (Note: Refunds are not available for Upgrades at any time or for any reason) suggests that they will keep your money even if they can't complete the upgrade

EVGA GeForce GTX 900/700 Series Upgrade Program FAQEVGA GeForce GTX 900/700 Series Upgrade Program FAQ
The EVGA GeForce GTX 900/700 Series Upgrade (“900/700 Series Upgrade”) Program is an optional program that allows owners of qualifying EVGA GeForce GTX 900 and GTX 700 Series graphics cards (“Qualifying Products”) to upgrade to a select EVGA GeForce RTX 20-Series Graphics Card (“Upgrade Product”) at a reduced price.
IS THIS LIKE THE EVGA STEP-UP PROGRAM?
Yes and no. The purpose of the 900/700 Series Upgrade Program is to allow you to purchase that EVGA GeForce RTX 20-Series graphics card you’ve been looking at while getting a discount when you send in your old EVGA GeForce GTX 900/700 Series graphics card. Unlike the EVGA Step-Up Program, you will receive a set dollar amount (USD) off the purchase price of your chosen card. Otherwise, you must still send in your qualifying graphics card to EVGA first.
WHAT OTHER BENEFITS WILL I RECEIVE?
The EVGA 900/700 Series Upgrade Program also has other great benefits:
  • Upgrade Products received through this promotion are eligible for the EVGA Extended Warranty program for 90-days from the date the 20-Series product is shipped to you.
  • Purchasing an EVGA GeForce RTX 20-Series graphics card through this program will allow you to become an EVGA ELITE Member.
DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS UPGRADE PROGRAM?
The GeForce 900/700 Series Upgrade Program does not have an additional fee to participate in this optional program. To be clear, you must still purchase your chosen EVGA RTX 20-Series graphics card – less the discount received by sending in your qualifying EVGA GeForce GTX 900/700 Series graphics card – and cover taxes (if any) and shipping (depending on your choice of shipping).
WHAT PRODUCTS QUALIFY FOR THE GEFORCE 900/700 SERIES UPGRADE PROGRAM AND WHAT PRODUCTS WILL I RECEIVE?
Select EVGA GeForce GTX 900 and GTX 700 Series graphics cards are eligible for the 900/700 Series Upgrade Program. You may upgrade a Qualifying Product to any available EVGA GeForce RTX 2080, RTX 2070, or RTX 2060 graphics card. Please see the chart above to see a list of the eligible Qualifying Products, the discount for each Qualifying Product, and the eligible list of Upgrade Products.
IS THERE A TL:DR VERSION OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS?

The full T&C is listed below, but here are the important terms and conditions:
  • The EVGA 900/700 Series Upgrade Program begins on June 26, 2019 at 11:00am. The EVGA 900/700 Series Upgrade Program will be available for a limited time only and/or while supplies last.
  • Eligible participants must be at least 18 years old, and reside in the contiguous United States, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
  • Participants may purchase one (1) qualifying EVGA GeForce RTX 20-Series graphics card at a discount, in exchange for sending EVGA one (1) qualifying EVGA GeForce GTX 900/700 Series graphics card. There is no limitation to the number of Upgrades that can be submitted by a single Participant.
    • Participants agree to the Upgrade Product, price, and discount at the time of submission.
    • The discount is considered part of the transaction; Participants may not request the discount be converted to other currency or store credit (i.e. EVGA Bucks).
    • Only one (1) 900/700 Series graphics card may be part of an Upgrade; Participants may not combine multiple 900/700 Series graphics cards in the same Upgrade to receive a larger discount.
  • Participant must be the registered owner of the Qualifying Product; the Qualifying Product must have a serial number when sent in; and the Qualifying Product must be in good working order, and in original factory condition, as defined by the terms of the EVGA Limited Warranty.
  • Participant does not have to be the original owner. Participants are not required to provide a proof of purchase, the original box nor the original accessories.
  • Participants may not cancel their Upgrade once EVGA has received the Participant’s qualifying 900/700 Series graphics card.Qualifying 900/700 Series graphics cards that fail testing, were improperly packed and/or exhibit damage during transit, or declined due to physical damage will VOID the Upgrade and the Qualifying Product will be returned to Participant.
  • Products sold as recertified products, such as products with an –RX part number suffix, are expressly excluded.
  • Participant submissions will be processed in the order received. However, Upgrade Products may be shipped based on the order Qualifying Products are received from Participants.

so the line in the faq's says that "Once EVGA has received your Qualifying Product, the Upgrade purchase becomes nonrefundable and the Qualifying Product cannot be returned" basically say that that even if evga cancels your upgrade and sends you your old card back they get to keep your money, so unless someone can confirm otherwise I'll be skipping this as I won't hand over money without getting something out of it these terms are not acceptable it's one thing to send in a card for verification and inspection first it's another to take my money and not give it back if evga decides to cancel the upgrade. if evga won't up hold their end by sending a new card or giving the money back if they decide to cancel then these conditions allow them to rob people of their hard earned money.
I'd appreciate an admin chiming in on this thank you

If you’re right then that is bad business. I read that to mean they approve your card and it becomes qualified. It could have been worded better. I don’t think they are out to scam people.

If the old card being sent in wasn't able to be accepted and we had to cancel the upgrade then of course we would refund anything you paid for the upgrade. If a refund had to be processed, then it should be refunded within 7-10 business days of the cancellation. If anyone encounters any issues with this then please contact our customer support team and we can help you. I expect that these would only be a handful of cases, if any, but we would not keep your money if we cannot process the upgrade.

Re: EVGA Select 700/900 Series Upgrade Promotion 2019/07/03 16:36:59 (permalink)
the fact that the savings it double layered didn't see to come through clearly.

IE
2080 black gaming bought normally: $730
2080 black gaming bought with program: $650
price you pay after trading in say a 980: $550

meaning you'd have to sell your 980 on ebay (or the like) for more than $180 for that to be a better option, not $100, which seems to be the quickest answer to get.

the $100 part is clear, the extra $80 however isn't, and might be a good idea to make that part easier to see.

in my case I went with the RTX 2080 FTW3 ULTRA HYBRID GAMING for 655.99 for a regular $900 card so, a $244 savings is still a little over priced considering I paid around $500 for the GTX 980 in back in 2014. price of inflation?

I was wanting clarification about the refunding if the card is rejected as well.  Sounds like if they send back the card then the owner isn't out anything.  I was planning on using Affirm, which I do believe I'm already qualified if it's allowing me to choose a payment plan.  Biggest thing is finding a box to ship it in as I'm not sure I still have the original.

Can I send a 780 and 980 out for one card?

If you add those together does it equal a yet-to-be-announced 1680?

One day we were brainstorming April Fools jokes and we thought about making a mock up for a GTX 1776 Founding Father's Edition. Sadly, we didn't end up doing it.

Bummer, disregarding it being an April Fools idea, that would be great idea as a limited collector's edition item with a 4th July release date. Throw a US flag and a copy of The Constitution in with it... nice.

If it came with Alex Jone's rant in a gif w/ sound format, I'd be interested.

All jokes aside, that would have been cool actually or maybe a limited camo covered card for the military/veterans and some of the proceeds could go to these good causes for the vets and their families.

Man, that would've been awesome. I'd say release one with a name like that, anyway.

That definitely would be a great idea. Limited run with proceeds or a portion of proceeds going to a vet program like wounded warrior. I have no doubt there will be people out there that will buy one. Personally I would heavily consider getting one in that case.

I think it ended the week after the 4th, not sure of the day.  It didn't help that they were vague about the duration of the promotion.  But they still have some very nice discounts on the original versions of the 20-series cards.  Something like $50-170 depending on the card.

Unfortunately graphics card's obtained via the 20th Anniversary Program do not qualify for the Super Fast. Supernatural promotion, due to the graphics card itself being obtained via a promotion. You can find the terms and conditions here https://www.evga.com/articles/01339/upgrade-to-20-series/
