After the recent Windows update my laptop stays on a black screen when turning it on. I read on the forum that a BIOS update is needed and it should fix the issue but I cannot access the BIOS. I drained the battery to make sure the device is fully turned off. Then I turned on the device whilst pressing F2 but the BIOS doesnt show or it does show and I cannot see it. I have tried using an external display to see if the laptop's display was faulty but nothing shows.

This problem did happen before but draining the battery and turning it back on did fix it so I didnt think much about it.

Is there any way to see if I am loaded into the BIOS or a way to update the BIOS without entering the BIOS?

Kind regards,
Quido

You can try doing a cmos reset while the laptop is off, this is a small hole beneath the laptop near the middle.  You will have to press it down by using a paperclip, turn on your pc and see if you get a signal again.  Let us know if this works!

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I tried this after draining the battery didnt work. I can see that the BIOS did reset as the keyboard lighting reverted back to it's original colours. However, I did do this whilst the laptop was on as a test to see if it would work. Would holding the button down, turning the laptop on and then releasing the button cause different behaviour?

Pressing the cmos while the laptop is on can cause issues I do not recommend it.  When booting are you able to see the EVGA screen or is it completely a black screen on post?

Oh, I will keep that in mind and not do it again. I do not see the EVGA screen, the screen is black on post.

I have followed the instructions you sent, the CMOS button didnt work again. I tried using the Windows Media Creation Tool but I don't have a way to change the boot order without access to the display or the BIOS so I don't know how to boot from the USB. I cannot remove the internal boot SSD as it is on the other side of the motherboard which would void my warranty. I've seen that pressing F7 whilst booting will bring up the boot menu, if I was able to get a guide as to which position the USB stick would be in and what button presses are required, it might be possible to boot from the USB.

I just realized that the laptop actually is turning on and booting into windows as I can hear some sounds and I can shut down with keyboard shortcuts, but the display is still black. What could be the fix for this?
