Might have overlooked browsing through other threads and online, but was wondering if this was ever confirmed?  Going off of the card render on EVGA's site the PCB height appears to match the FTW3, which has been confirmed to be a custom PCB with 3x8pin with the recent actual photos released.  The other possibility is that they might have a separate XC Hybrid and FTW3 Hybrid.  I'm thinking that might be the case since the render for the Hydro Copper appears to be the XC PCB height.  It would make sense for them to also offer an FTW3 Hydro Copper for custom loop enthusiasts.

I'm currently torn between getting an XC and installing an AlphaCool Eiswolf 2 since they've confirmed that they will have an AIO kit available close to launch that should fit the "reference" design before Nvidia decided to do their own custom PCB for the FE cards.  I was lucky enough to grab the EVGA 2080ti Hybrid kit before they stopped selling them so I'm worried that they might not offer them to buy this time around.  If the Hybrid really is using the FTW3 PCB, I'll be tempted to just go that route for the added OC/Power Limit possibilities.

Also just to chime in on my experience with the EVGA Hybrid Kit on a 2080Ti Black since some users have reported problems on here.  I have never had any issues with pump noise, it has always been mounted on the rear 120mm spot in my case in push configuration with the hoses at the bottom.  It almost never exceeds 55C in synthetic tests/gaming even with a +175 Clock, +1100 mem so been really happy with it.  Though I did opt to use a Noctua fan on the radiator instead of the stock to reduce fan noise.

Hey!

I'm kind of confused here. In other generations there would be a hybrid and a ftw3 hybrid variant, if i'm not mistaken. Now in the article posted here https://www.evga.com/articles/01434/evga-geforce-rtx-30-series/ evga doesn't even mention ftw3 on those hybrid version and yet it uses the ftw3 pcb ? Does it means that it uses the ftw3 pcb but not all the "superior" ftw3 components ? Curious because the launch day is coming and we're all F5'in that store page right ? :)

Are you going to shunt mod the reference card?

We plan for a 3090/3080 HYBRID version on both the XC3 and FTW3 versions.  We chose to use only one image for HC and HYBRID in places to describe the cooling as an option, rather than show a separate image for XC3 and FTW3.

Is there any plans for a 30xx hybrid kit this time around? I don't know how much longer I can not be gaming on my PC. Either I buy the FTW Ultra and a Kit later on, or suffer even longer waiting for the Hybrid. My 980ti died in July and this has been brutal past few months.

Will there be side grades for stepup? IE 3090 FTW and able to sidegrade it to 3090 Hybrid FTW?

Cannot answer the Hybrid kit question for you.

However, I can offer some light on your stepup question. Side-grades as you called it, are a no. Upgrades yes. It depends on how EVGA views their leveing and of course, as you apply for a stepup, the system will tell you if it qualifies or not! Link... https://www.evga.com/support/stepup/

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  • Only EVGA products are eligible for the Step-Up program.
  • EVGA Step-Up is currently only available to residents of the United States, Canada and EU Countries.
  • EVGA Step-Up is available only to the original end-user purchaser of the product from a valid reseller.
  • The EVGA Step-Up program is available to EVGA graphics cards and motherboards for customers within 90 days of their original purchase date based on invoice verification.

Graphics Cards

  • EVGA generally only releases reference versions of its products (NVIDIA reference-clock speeds and performance) to the Step-Up list. Due to stock limitations or other factors, EVGA will sometimes release models featuring a factory overclock or non-reference PCB to the Step-Up list. We do not encourage customers to try to "wait and see" if a factory overclock model is available if you are nearing the end of your Step-Up period, because this is not a consideration EVGA takes into account when determining Step-Up models. However, you are always free to wait until the end of your Step-Up period to make your choice.
  • Step-Up is limited to pre-approved graphics cards only and can only be used for exchange to a different and higher performing GPU.
  • Products known to have a limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA.)
  • Customers who received their EVGA graphics card as part of a complete computer system are not eligible - except for those listed on our approved system vendor list.
Graphics Cards Examples:
  • GTX 980 Ti → GTX 1080: YES (Upgraded GPU)
  • GTX 1060 3GB → GTX 1060 6GB SSC Gaming: YES (Upgraded Memory)
  • GTX 1080 FTW → GTX 1080 Ti: YES (Upgraded Model)
  • GTX 1070 Ti → GTX 1070: NO (Downgraded Performance)

I asked that question during the last EVGA weekly stream - they don't know anything about hybrid conversion kits yet - if they were to make them it would be probably later.

Well this blew up quickly, thanks for the quick answers Lee and Afterburner!  FTW3 Hybrid seems to be my primary choice then, unless the price is too unreasonable or I luck out on stock.

No plans to shunt mod, don't want to risk voiding the warranty and am not very good with a soldering iron.

Hypothetically, 3090 XC3 -> 3090 Hybrid FTW would be eligible if they put it up on the step-up? Or no because it's not really a model upgrade? Or I would have to do 3080 -> 3090 Hybrid?

I don't want to be gambling on the Hybrid potentially and be stuck with a card I didn't necessarily want from the get go :(

Should we take this to mean that they will not be around on the 24th?

Here is what has happened "Historically"...

Short answer is no to the first part, and kind of to the second.

Here is the deal... EVGA has not posted all the GPU models for a series on the Step Up, like ever. Your scenario is very unlikely to happen, where EVGA would post  multiple offerings (3090 reference, FTW, FTW Ultra, Hybrid, Black, Kingpin and some other variant) in the Step Up program.

Speaking to your question as only an example... The GPU need to be considered an upgrade. If the RAM and or spec (Not counting the clocks) are the same for the 3090 XC3 & 3090 Hybrid FTW might be considered unilateral and not qualify.

However. Say you want to go from a 3090 reference and EVGA has posted a FTW that has a higher RAM count than the reference. Then yes. In this hypothetical scenario you could Step Up if qualified.

Bottom line....

You will most likely only see one, "Maybe" two models of any series in the Step Up program.

You need to do what works best for you.

Just look at this link https://www.evga.com/support/stepup/ and you can see most of your questions are answered. Including what I am speaking to above. You do not see a list of five models in one series as options to Step Up to.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the amazing response. That has definitely helped me with my decision path. Again, I really appreciate the detailed responses.
