I've searched this forum and cannot find whether or not anyone has found out how to turn K-Boost OFF. My cards runs at full speed all the time with x16 running and idle at 45C because of it, when normally they're don about 28-30. I've seen other people talk about it, but I can't find an answer or someone say it is either a documented bug and no fix is available, or if there is a fix. Is there a way to turn k-boost off? My radio button does not work.

Uninstall X 16, Reboot, Post Temps.

ALSO what is the most stable version of EVGA precision? I'm quite baffled by the bugs and glitches everyone is talking about and i cant come to a conclusion on whether to use 4.2.1 or 5.0.1 or even go to MSI Afterburner... GHASP.

I know its already been said on like the 6th reply of this thread, but I am having a problem with overclocking my 6GB 780. Every time I try and raise the voltage, it will reset when I click apply. Other than that, that's all im having an issue with. Looks like im going back to 4.2.1. I like 4.2.1, but I cant use 64bit games for the OSD. Please fix :)

YouTube videos occasionally locking up not playing their video, or even locking up the computer so that a Ctrl+Alt+Delete is needed.

May be tied in to the other video/player issues people have mentioned.

Didn't have this problem before.

MSI is the way to go at the moment .. PX16 is hopelessly bugged and PX15 doesn't provide G15/19 display support.

VLC continues to keep crashing and BF4 feels laggy at times... tried turning down GFX and got stock speeds, still issues.

It says it can't detect compatible hardware. I have a gigabyte 7970 that worked fine with 4.2

Here's the link to download an earlier software version:

Thank You!  Wish I had read how fd up the new version was before I uninstalled.

+1 bro

Glad it helped, guys.

I've now reverted back to this version as well. Too many issues for the new version to be usable. Can't have my computer locking up on me, having to reload backed up servers, and reset BOINC tasks. Not cool.

You can now. Rive tuner has lifted the exclusivity of Afterburner on 64 bit. Just install PX 4.2.1 and update to the latest version of Riva Tuner.

Just installed the new PrecisionX 16 and it immedialty started crashing Path of Exile, an exception window comes up but its hard locked the program so i can't see what the exception is. Need to use task manager to close. As soon as X16 is removed the crash stops.

Also my gpu fans stay at 10k rpms and don't increase even with custom fan settings or having the fans set to auto. At 40c should @ 40%, 50c 50% etc.

Anyone have a link for precision 15, would like to go back till the new one is sorted.
Also for feedback, I like the old menu settings better (window format), don't like the new one. (Personal taste).

DO NOT INSTALL EVGA16.

I wish I had looked at this before I did.  I originally thought if it ain't broke don't fix it, but today I said oh what the hell I'll install it.  And my fonts are totally messed up, the GUI is seriously atrocious, and I can't see my cursor now.  Looking for the old links....

the new update helps but it still has bugs. Also, How do i move the location where the OSD is displayed? i would like to be able to change that.

Some games still crash with the font issue though i was able to play PoE again. I did notice that if i turn off the display and go through a load screen it will not turn on again.

Ugh! Can't believe the simple Ctrl-# has been overlooked again! C'mon...every RTS out there uses Ctrl-# for hot keying. No software should ever be coded to override that.

Idk if anyone is getting my problem but I don't seem to have many of the problems you guys having. Literally about every second, my cursor shows the circular blue "thinking" icon with mouse. It'll show up with regular mouse every second and continue like this forever. Not sure why since x16 installed this is happening, but kinda annoying. I can deal with it but would like to know also how to make it stop so if anyone notices this while in win8/8.1 whilst just navigating windows normally, let me know.

The "thinking icon you are talking about is the program starting to have a memory leak, the program has many. It does it on all versions of Windows it runs on.

Also, I can confirm all of the bugs in the forum on both Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 (fully updated) and Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (fully updated). Both were 64-bit versions.

Ok cool, thanks. Just wanted somebody to respond, hoping I wasn't the only one. I'm fairly lucky that literally is the only problem I can tell at the moment. Guess i'll try the new update.

*UPDATE: tried patch, still "memory leaks" with the thinking mouse icon. I believe I narrowed it down to the monitor for your stats eg. framerate, temps, etc. So if that helps in the debug then cool.

16.5.2.2 appears to have a slight issue if the fan is set at 100%, it downclocks the video card(GTX770), even if the temp is 60 degrees.
Guess I'm not running the fan high that low then :P

Also, if the driver crashes, it appears that a restart of Windows is required to get the GPU clockspeed back to what it should be.

Not a bug. Windows WDM has been this way for a long time. Recovery puts the card in limp mode.

Here's a cool one: on the OSD 1/2 page... any letter you choose for toggle OSD will make that letter on your keyboard not work.
I thought my pretty new Logitech G710+ crapped out, wouldn't type letter "o" in small case, upper case worked. Hooked a older keyboard up and same result. Finally figured it out ,deleted o from toggle selection and it works again. I then put lower case p in place
of the o in toggle OSD :same result.

same issue, took me a week to figure out why my y key was not working, i accidentally put it in the toggle osd field. :(

I'm unable to install 5.2.2.  When running the installer, I just get a small window popping up that says "1158".

I'm running Win 8.1 64-bit.  I also tried installing with admin rights.

Any thoughts?

i upgraded my precision to the evga precision 16 also last week and noticed huge issues, i would be playing LOTRO and then i would get the precision 16 crashing my game, and this never happened with the previous one at all. also its kicking my fans so much higher then they need to be kicking on and temps are fine when it starts to kick the fans up higher so not understanding whats going on .

The Font issue did not get resolved after the update. Is it possible to request the next (and hopefully soon) update include a full fix for the font issue? i seem to be getting font errors on some games.  PoE lasts longer but i still was kicked out for a font related error (The game's black screen blocked the message to quick for me to read the name of the font) causing an Out of memory exception.

Re: EVGA PrecisionX 16 5.2.0 bug report thread... 2014/10/01 05:11:52 (permalink)
Hi guys,

I'm running GTX 780 SC ACX atm, and am happy with it. Was using some antediluvian version of precision x and everything went just fine. I upgraded to the newest version and this is what happened.

VLC crashes like 13-20x per one movie, that's unbearable, I always have to disable Precision X. Word/Excel is crashing a lot, coz of it. Also Adobe Creative Cloud Bridge is having massive issues and Photoshop with Illustrator too. Even games are freezing, it's not a "full freeze", it's a "lag freeze" where I can hear "buzzz" from my speakers. Also this is happening in Windows.

Please fix this as soon as You can. There's nothing in the log of my OS, when the "lag" apppears, it's not in eventviewer, anywhere. It's not a crash, just a weird freeze buzz,

Thank You!

Regards

Bryan

possible workaround for VLC while a fix is found.
