ixlad66 Well, here we go again! Got my RMA replacement a few days ago and set it up yesterday, all was well until... Why don't I just post exactly what I emailed EVGA tech support: Received the replacement board and set up the system yesterday. Had no problems installing windows in RAID 0, MB drivers and downloading windows updates. All settings at default. The system was turned on and off several times over the course of several hours without incident. The system was then unplugged from power and all peripherals, and set aside overnight because I was working on two other rigs. Today, I plugged everything back into the system, switched it on and got nothing, a blank screen. The auto-signal-detect on the monitor did not even blink. LED debug code: A2. Everything else seems to be working: LEDs are on, fans are spinning, optical drive functions. I tried switching video cards (3 different ones) from other working systems, but no change. I had no choice but to do a hard reset using the PSU switch. However when I turn the PSU switch back on, the system starts up without touching the power button on the MB and will continue to happen over and over even with the PSU unplugged for a while. Clear CMOS also made no difference, it does not even allow me to see the BIOS. I can't seem to do anything that will get a signal to the monitor. Any suggestions? I hate to say it but it looks like this board truly is a steaming pile of monkey dung. I have done nothing differently from my various other builds, and I've built quite a few. The only piece of hardware in recent memory that gave me this much trouble (and 2 RMAs) was the OCZ Revo Hybrid drive. Good idea, poor execution, even worse firmware. I really don't want to play this game anymore... same reboot loop/no display thing with A2 debug is happening to me too. in the process of RMA right now. trying to work out a refund rather than replacement but we'll see. anyways, doesn't look like it's an isolated issue.

i think each person having problems with their boards should also list where they got them, and when. i seem to have got lucky and received a board that does not crash nearly as hard as some of you, but i have not been able to get a stable ram freq above 1600mhz. i haven't really spent much time on it though tbh. i got mine from performance-pcs.com, on the 22nd of december.

With so many problems and so many illogical reasons on these issues, I think the board is physically flawed and bet it is beyond a bios update fix.

I think they hyped up the board way too early. Got everyone drooling, and then had to send it back for some changes. Then they released it with some nasty flaws. IMHO, that was a bad stunt that will cost them some reputation. I know I am not to excited about EVGA right now. I will most likely never buy from them again. MSI has a 3 year warranty on their video cards too, so why should I buy EVGA anymore? EVGA has good customer service, BUT, they send back a bad product many times and are slow to do it. I will not recommend them to anyone, there is no reason to at this point. If they cant write a good BIOS, they should have someone else do it. END OF LINE...

Currently, the Z77 Stinger board is having issues with memory setting above 1600MHz. For the time being until a BIOS update is released, I would suggest setting your memory speed to 1333MHz.

I managed to get a signal out of the board by using the on-board HDMI output. It had somehow re-set itself in a way where the PCIe slot was disabled among other things. Boy, this board is delicate and finicky... I did a clean OS install and ran a few burn-in and performance tests; nothing too stressing, I've ran these programs on multiple rigs without a hitch. And then it froze up. That was the last straw, I unplugged everything, took it off the test bench, took a few photos, boxed it back up and I put it up on Ebay. No more EVGA motherboards for me, thanks. Not unless they offer something on par with the SR-2 again, I have one in a design/graphics rig and it's a beast! I'll stick to EVGA video cards, out of the 5 I've owned, I haven't had a bad one yet. The EVGA 750 Gold PSU seems great as well, so far.

The tuning utlility last time I tried wasn't working too well. But if you must, go into the BIOS, set the CPU multipler setting from "Auto" or "Manual" to "EVGA Eleet Tuning" (I forgot exactly what it is called). Once this is set, save and exit from the BIOS. Now you have overclocking control from Windows while using the EVGA Eleet Tuning software that is provided.

I'm not one to jump ship till the ship is actually beyond saving. I knew there was a chance for bugs on the first run. So I'm waiting for EVGA to fix the issues. Plus the Z77 Stinger is not my main system, so it doesn't bug everyday. I use an EVGA X58 board for my main system.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion and I assume that of many others, you should not have to try and "save" a brand new $200.00 motherboard. It should work as advertised right out of the box, without patches, updates or tips from other users on how to get the board to run within its most basic parameters. I'm sure no one out there feels like sitting around with their thumbs "you know where", waiting for a BIOS fix that may never come. This board was not intended to be my main system either, however that does not make me want it to work properly any less. Believe me if I could get a refund from EVGA I would, but that doesn't seem likely and I'm in no mood to make a "Federal Case" out of this. That's why it's up on Ebay, and so far no takers. After this I think I'll follow Tudd Fudders' advice and get another Asrock. I have one in my wife's PC and a Z77 OC Formula as one of my gaming rigs, and so far, both great.

I just ordered a MSI Z77I-E53. It DOES oc ,and runs stable. Memory can run up to 2800 in OC and supports 16 GB. I'm sure I will be happy with that. I am not just writing off the Stinger, I am writing off EVGA.

Just a quick update, there is a BIOS update for the Stinger. Click link below or check out the sticky at the top of the Z75/Z77 section. http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1848398 Edit: Stinger has failed to update the BIOS. Still on V.1.00. Hopefully this is a quick fix from EVGA.

I just updated to the 1.21 bios... Now I can't overclock my i5-3570k and I get a constant, high pitched squeal coming from the mobo while I am in Windows. If I manually change the CPU clock I will get the 9A code and my computer will turn off and on (without output to any screen) indefinitely. I recommend to anyone that has a stable system and hasn't updated to 1.21 to keep it that way. Also, and this is unrelated to bios update problems, but I just noticed that my POWER and RESET buttons on the mobo do not light up like they should (they have never lit up).

Annnnnnd I'm not surprised at all. Original issues with Z77 FTW, same issues with Stinger. EVGA should just stick to graphics cards... this whole motherboard line is just not working out.

I will do the same. I tried to sell here on the forum, but you need a blood sample, a FBI background check, a CIA background check, and 8 other accounts on various websites plus your 50+ posts here so I won't try that again. I would be careful about your sale on Ebay though. Does the customer know how crappy the board is? Do they know that it is a performance board that can't be OCed? When I sell mine, I will have to point out it has BIOS issues or it will come back like a boomerang! My new MSi itx is awesome, and does what it is advertised to do. The best itx I have ever owned. It's just weird not to have any problems with it. I see EVGA is doing their BIOS updates in typical fashion. Each update either does nothing, or the problems get worse. Changes in this update.......change version number...........nothing else It should have been named "Z77 FAIL"

You need to run a command line in administrator mode. Go to your command line, right click, choose run as administrator then cd to the directory you downloaded it to; run the bat file.

So my machine spastically began rebooting agian and then the video card stopped working, this is on the replacement board. Onboard video works, GPU works in other system, and yadda yadda. I am firing this motherboard. I am going to eat the damned 15% restocking fee (and I will have to pay for shipping). You win Evga I will end up still paying to have used your broken product. After this happened yesterday I went out and bought a mid tower and Asus Maximus Gene V. It is so nice to be able to turn on XMP and run my memory at the speed it is designed to run! My prodigy is going to become a linux box.

For those folks having a hard time updating the BIOS, try this method that I used. 1. Download the correct BIOS and unzip it to the desktop 2. Copy the files and root folders of the BIOS to a USB key. 3. Open the "Command Prompt" program by right clicking it and selecting "Run as Administator". It located under, "Start Menu/All Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt". 4. With the USB key inserted into the Stinger board system, type the following into the Command Prompt with the correct drive letter for the USB key (mine was I:) and bios version batch. "I:\fptwin64" or "I:\fptwin32", hit enter. 5. It should then proceed with the BIOS update. By doing this way, I got mine to update the BIOS. Thou it is new BIOS, same old bugs.
