I plan on ordering my Z10 in the next couple of days here, going with the brown switches. The bundle with the Torq x10 is what sold me, plus my new build is going to be a white/red/black color scheme... so the lack of RGB lighting doesn't really affect me, as mind-boggling as it is that it's not an included feature.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, we'll probably use algebra like mad today..."

I got my keyboard today without a mouse even though the icon was there when I ordered, (
4227881 Order Date:4/6/2018 1:19:53 PM). Must have missed it by seconds. First note not as heavy as some mechanical boards and the packing is the best I have ever seen. Second when I checked my online order history it did not show this order? Third if it works as good as it looks, you have another winner...............Ed

Hi cokeman,

I noted yesterday that there was an issue with packaging the mice with some keyboards.  Your mouse (as well as everyone else's mouse) shipped out today.  We're working on sending out an email to everyone with the tracking numbers for the mice.

I apologize again for the inconvenience.

Hi everyone, we're aware that mice seemed to have been left out of the box on some of the keyboards.  We will be notifying and shipping out mice to everyone affected by this, without requiring anyone to contact us or request one.  Anyone missing a mouse should know that their mouse will be shipped out by tomorrow at the latest.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Yay! Mine came in today so I was a bit worried. Thanks for the update!

FYI, we'll have a new version of the software going live by the end of day (roughly next 1.5 to 3 hours).  I'll update this post when it goes live.

Edit:  Software version v1.0.2 is now available on the download page:

watch out the links with the buy now takes you to the wrong color. if you click on the blue color you are linked to this ( EVGA Z10 Gaming Keyboard, Red Backlit LED, Mechanical Brown Switches, Onboard LCD Display, Macro Gaming Keys) for the brown switch.   and then when you click on the brown buy now you are linked to this ( EVGA Z10 Gaming Keyboard, Red Backlit LED, Mechanical Blue Switches, Onboard LCD Display, Macro Gaming Keys) for the blue switch.

I just checked, and each keyboard has the correct where to buy links for the switch color.  Please let me know if you're still seeing a problem.

my mistake I should have mentioned if you went from the main page of evga.com and clicked on the banner for the keyboard, then on the page it takes you to where you can choose the color that is the spot from where the links are wrong. blue linked to: brown linked to:
edit: links did not show first time, see if it works this time?

Re: EVGA Introduces the Z10 Keyboard - Now Available! 2018/04/12 21:19:57 (permalink)
I love the keyboard. Currently typing on it with the brown switches. It feels sturdy, black with the silver trim is nice. The magnetic wrist rest is both convenient and comfortable. I can quickly remove it if I place something like my joystick on my desk and I need to have some room.

All of the problems I am having are software. The Unleash software isn't very intuitive when it comes to the LCD screen. I can't figure out how to change the color of the LCD and I can't get it to link with Precision to show any data. I know the LCD works, it'll show the presets like the time and date, but I had the overlay on in The Division, and showing data on screen, but the LCD was just blank.

The other issue I seem to be having is the USB pass-thru will occasionally reconnect/disconnect (can hear the Windows noise) and my device plugged into the keyboard will stop working until it reconnects. (May have fixed this by changing USB ports, went from a set of 3.1 to a set of 2.0 if that matters)

TL;DR
The keyboard is nice, the software is absolute trash.

Just got mine and this just about sums it up.  Figured I'd give a newer mechanical keyboard a try instead of my vintage one and I find the keyboard pleasant to use but the software atrocious.  Even worse in my case, I didn't realize Unleash can only get data from Precision X, which I can't use because I have an AMD GPU.  I can't figure out how to use timers either and there is absolutely no documentation on the software, much less a manual for the keyboard beyond a quick start guide.  The only use I see for the LCD at this point is as a clock unless more features are added in the near future.

My other gripe is the volume slider.  Since Windows 10 has "acceleration" with its volume control, if you move the slider too fast, the actual volume will jump a large amount; I've made it hit 100% several times with the slider being positioned only halfway across.

It'd also be nice if the fn and Windows keys were the same size so you could not only swap them functionally (this I did like having in the Unleash software) but physically as well, but that's not as big of a deal.  A third party keycap set would probably be the ultimate solution to that issue.

I had contacted EVGA about the manual as I wanted to figure out how to set macros. There is no manual to download, but I thought the product would have a manual. Mine arrives soon. Is there no manual with the keyboard? How do you set macros? Thanks.

For configuring the OSD in Precision, you will need to do it in precision using this version:

https://www.evga.com/EVGA/GeneralDownloading.aspx?file=EVGA_Precision_X_OC_Setup_v6.2.5.1_BETA.exe

Configure in the HWM section.

No documentation is included outside of the quick start guide that basically says plug in the keyboard and download the software.  I managed to figure out setting macros on my own.  Go to the second tab in Unleash and click "Macro Manager."  Inside the Macro Manager you can create a new macro and record a sequence for it.  After saving a macro, close the Macro Manager and click on the key you want to assign the macro to.  For either the primary or secondary drop down box, select "Macro Play/Pause," then select your macro from the list.  Primary function is accessed by just pressing the key; secondary is accessed by pressing fn+the key, so you can actually assign twice as many macros as there are keys to assign them to.

It's not a bad manager for key assignments, but it could be a bit more versatile; my favorite one was the old Saitek SST Profiler.  I do wish it was possible to have a macro that includes the Windows key so I could assign the win+shift+arrow shortcut to a key (the shortcut moves a window to the next monitor in the direction you press).  Some people might also like having the mouse buttons/wheel in macros (not sure if there is demand for it, but it was a feature in the Saitek software).

The other disappointment is that the E6, E7, and arrow keys are reserved and can't be reassigned.  I'm not sure what "Use E6 to switch between applications" and "Use E7 to switch between display manners" exactly means.  I also don't really know what the difference between "PC Mode" and "LCD Mode" are, and the LCD doesn't seem to update when switching between PC, LCD, and Game Mode, so there is no way to tell what mode the keyboard is in outside of what it says in Unleash.  By the looks of it, that entire row on the LCD does not change to what it should display until you toggle 6/NKRO.  Even saving settings to the keyboard causes the row to show up blank until you use aforementioned toggle.

I did however figure out that if you press fn+right arrow, it cycles between the preset backlight modes so you don't have to dig through Unleash to change it every time.

Well, received mine today. Having a hard time assigning a combo of keys to a macro. I'm hitting record in the macro manager and then left control with F2 to use in a game I use commonly, but the recorder only sees the control command and not F2. Also, left shift with F2 as another example, but only shift is recorded. I tried this several times but with no luck. Ideas? Thanks.

Yeah just did some testing myself and it turns out it doesn't allow you to press two keys at the same time...  Even if you rearrange the steps in the macro it moves both the press and release at the same time.  That makes it much less useful...

Yea. Software needs work, but the unit itself appears quite nice to me. I like it. Just wish I could get the macros to work properly.

Had to change key assignments in game to accommodate this new keyboard. No big deal, but it should be able to record two keys in a macro if desired.

Software has a bug where it crashes completely while altering macros, key assignments.

Is there a place in the software to backup your profile? Thanks.

Great Product EVGA!

Finally a Mechanical Keyboard with a screen to monitor your hardware. This one will be a success.
When will these keyboards be available in Europe?

one question about the unleash software, do i still need the version i have installed now for my x10 mouse or does the version, 1.0.3, work for both? i checked the version i have installed and cant really find any version number or even reference to it when i go to the mouse driver page.

The software for Mice is independent of the Keyboard software, so you would use the lastest version of both.  To find the version number of the mouse (latest software version is 1.9.4) go here:

If you click on the magnifying glass under the FW/SW versions, it will let you know if you have the latest of each.  And yes, it's been a while since we had a software update for mice.  If you're wondering if we'll ever combine the two Unleash softwares, the answer is probably yes, but it won't be for a long while.

Finally evga answer the question i asked over 2 weeks ago.

It's strange that the keyboard and mice don't use the same software. Wonder if they have plans to merge both of them or not. I guess someone else will have to ask that question too.
