The flagship RTX 3090 Ti drops by 1000 USD in just few months. The official MSRP for RTX 3090 Ti is 1999 USD, but EVGA custom models with their better cooling and higher performance were sold at higher price. The cheapest FTW3 model introduced with a price of 2149 USD is now available for … 1000 USD less.  EVGA RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 gaming series feature 3 SKUs, the cheapest one, offering NVIDIA reference clocks is now available for 1149 USD.

Just three weeks ago we reported on unofficial price cuts being introduced by some retailers and board partners, including EVGA. The company was actually among the few that lower the price of RTX 3090 Ti to 1499 USD. Just three weeks later this price is further reduced by 350 USD. EVGA 3090 Ti FTW3 cards are now sold for 1150 USD to 1400 USD. One should note that the BLACK edition available at 1400 USD is actually less powerful than ULTRA (lower clocks) sold for 200 USD less. The new price does not apply to HYDRO Copper and KINGPIN Hybrid SKUs, both are still listed at 1500 and 2000 USD respectively.

Good time to buy an EVGA GTX 3090ti.

I honestly would be afraid that the next generation will go back up in price. People might wait for a 4090 card and find it's $1500 and the 4080 is like $900. It could be worse and $1200 and $2000 respectively.  Having the next generation might be nice but I don't know if it's going to result in better performance as you could find for about the same cost as a 3090Ti in the next generation you are only getting a 4080.

A $1000 rebate on a brand new card is absurd!   Nvidia is showing their hand big time and they are really backed into a corner with this inventory.  I think the economy is the main issue.  People just don't have discretionary income like they did last Summer.  I think less of it has to do with people waiting for 40 series.

The good news moving forward is that AMD is right on the heels of Nvidia which will hopefully keep prices in check.

I took advantage of the sale, although I bought mine in that lag period when the initial rebate was "only" $800. A day later, the rebate was up to $1000. Now, today, it's back to $800.
That's the way it goes with tech. Some credit cards offer a price guarantee, but I found out with this incident that the feature was dropped from my CC. Oh well, I guess I can eat $200.

On a side note, this card is HUGE!!

It wasn't so much that the price was acceptable, it was that there was no option to get it cheaper anywhere. Supply and demand. Most of us understood that and bit the bullet.

I am wondering how much of this will happen with 40 series and whether it makes sense to wait until the smoke clears or even wait until Black Friday/cyber Monday.

It's going to be a game of chicken that Nvidia will have to play with AMD 7xxx series and potentially losing market share.  One thing is for sure here:  Nvidia will need to pay the piper on that reserved line time at TSMC.  I believe TSMC publicly mentioned that they were willing to defer shipments until the end of Q4/beginning of Q1-2023, so no matter what, we should see some deals down the road. Just a question of when.. (which nobody has a crystal ball for).

    There's always an option.
    You made your choice.
You didn't have to buy the video card. All the reviews said that you shouldn't. If you and everyone else passed on it, these drops in prices would have happened long ago.

Wait, what? Wasn't it you who was lamenting your purchase? Whose the one crying?

I was never jealous about people purchasing what I didn't want, for a price that I thought was ridiculous. All it did was make me mad. Mad because they were setting a pricing precedent all because they were too bored to resist or needed to prove some sort of point about their ability to buy a product. Don't ruin this for me. They gamified the process of buying a product, making demand increase. It became so ravenous that new SKUs were created to take advantage of the situation, old SKUs were unofficially retired, and MSRPs doubled. Consumers have no one to blame but themselves. So go ahead and feel sick about your involvement. It's helpful if everyone feels sick about it.

What's really sad is that companies make record profits two years in a row, and then lay people off the next. Where does the money so quickly go?

Kind of makes me feel a little sick, considering how much many of us paid for the 3090 & 3090 Ti.

It made me a little sick when you guys were buying them and reaffirming that the price was acceptable.

It wasn't so much that the price was acceptable, it was that there was no option to get it cheaper anywhere. Supply and demand. Most of us understood that and bit the bullet.

    There's always an option.
    You made your choice.
You didn't have to buy the video card. All the reviews said that you shouldn't. If you and everyone else passed on it, these drops in prices would have happened long ago.

lol jealous are we? Yes there was an option - buy the card or don't buy the card. We bought the card. Go cry in the corner and whine how it's not fair... lol

Where did I say I 'lament' my purchase? I don't. I said the massive price drop made me feel sick (figuratively), but I don't lament having the 3090 for the last 1 year and 9 months. Now I think about it, I could easily consider that amortization.

LOL are you serious that you were MAD at people for buying something because you think their only reason for buying it was to prove some point about being able to buy it? LMAO! Why the hell would anyone buy something just to prove they could - and prove it to who - you? I suppose maybe there are a few shallow people out there who think like that (including you it seems), but I would think they were few and far between - who can afford to live like that anyway? I bought the 3090 because it is my one and only 'hobby' these days, and it is something I enjoy, so although it was expensive, I still saw value in it. Do you even comprehend that concept? That's really sad if the only reason you buy things is to impress other people. Screw other people, try doing what you want for YOU.

Now I have another reason I'm really happy I bought it - because it upsets you. LOL. May I suggest you try chilling out a little and being a little more open to the idea that maybe others' motivations aren't what you think they are - I note you're regularly having extended 'disagreements' with people on these forums for one thing or another, almost always because they don't think the way you think they should, and apparently that makes you angry. I don't know, maybe you should take a break from the internet if this is how it makes you feel. I usually try to keep it civil with you because I know how you are, but sheesh...

As far as some companies laying people off now (including EVGA), I believe for some of them it's because they hired a heap of people to help handle the huge demand after the pandemic hit (depending on the market segment they are in), and now the demand has decreased, they are scaling back to pre-pandemic levels. There are also MANY businesses cutting back because they suffered economically during the worst of the pandemic. The fact that US GDP has contracted for the last 2 quarters reinforces that.

Dude.. just relax and try to have a nice day.

edit: I should also note that although I paid for the 3090 in full myself, I have since bought a number of items that were largely covered by EVGA Bucks, so I am more than happy, and those purchases more than offset the 3090 cost. Thanks again EVGA!

First of all, this is a 3090 Ti thread.
Second of all, your opinion was misrepresented in 2 ways. 1) For misrepresenting which product you were talking about. 2) For misrepresenting your opinion on the subject.

Why are you here arguing with me?

$1000 off is a ridiculous discount...it reveals a bit about the margins in this business, no?

Probably so, but I snatched one up... used your code too, just like with the KP 3090 from last year... oh wait, that was earlier this year. lol. I'm flush with the 90s now! Hopefully I won't be too disappointed with missing out on the new bells and whistles of the 40s.

I read somewhere that nVidia might be covering the loss from the AIBs for selling at extreme discounts. Not sure if makes fiscal sense, but I'm just the consumer.
