Topless_Stang This was my thought exactly...either that or 4080/4090 🤷🏾♂️
Why would anyone think a delay on an EVGA waterblock would indicate NVIDIA launching an entire separate generation of chip, while they still are struggling to meet demand for the chips they just launched less than 3 months ago? The 40-series chips will most likely be based on their next architecture, Hopper, and based on the 20-series will likely be about 18 months away if we see a similar mid-cycle "Super" refresh of the 30-series. The HC delay is because of a minor change to the coldplate and doesn't look to have anything to do with the cards themselves.

alha Couple quick questions to those in the know from the first round. If a person is a luddite by choice and has foregone soc media like Twitter, might there be any other means of receiving said communication, other than remembering to keep an eye on the thread here?
Second, if i read correctly a couple posts up, I believe it mentioned that the auto notify was up for something like 29 seconds before it was nuked? Not trying to be salty, but that sort of feels like the current situation trying to buy most anything even somewhat desirable today.
I guess the reasoning would be the same, supply vs. demand, it's just frustrating, as i have a little over half built system that has been sitting for weeks now, just waiting on 2 components, the 'right' GPU, and the 'right' CPU. Well, hopefully I'll get lucky and get on the list for the next round, though honestly, given the choice, I'd prefer the HC version, but at this point beggars can't be choosers and all that. Sorry for the rant.
It was originally up for 24 seconds based on the reports we've collected. I am not sure where you would want them to notify folks. I would think the two natural places are in their direct communication channels which are (a) their Twitter feeds (there are two that typically focus on North America, including Jacob's) and (b) this website, which includes these forums. What would be your suggestion? I agree about the frustration part; it is fair to say that we are all frustrated by the lack of supply of cards, generally. But the queues are at least helping some gamers secure their cards...and that is better than the status quo almost anywhere else across the gpu marketplace. Please make sure you are a signed up as an " Elite" member as Jacob has indicated that the second tranche may also be limited to Elite membership. Best of luck on getting in the next queue.

Also to add on to what enewt articulated, you do not need to have or use a twitter account in order to see tweets. I'd suggest keeping an eye on Jacob's twitter page ( https://twitter.com/EVGA_JacobF/) which you should be able to just bookmark and manually check without an account. Good luck on getting on the notify list in the second round, and good luck on trying to find anywhere that you're able to get a Ryzen 5000 CPU (assuming that is the other "right" part you are missing)

@alha I agree 1000% with enewt. Simply put, you’re not going to do any better anywhere else. So if you want the best performing 30 series cards you can buy, and you want the peace of mind knowing that you will be guaranteed to receive a card, stick with EVGA. Of course, if you prefer driving four hours to camp out in a parking lot to try and catch a graphics card and not COVID, or generally enjoy the thrilling futility of pressing F5 endlessly, then you should probably look elsewhere.

Yep, I sure do understand the situation we're in, and I have a Micro Center about 15 mins away. I got most of the parts for the build I am working on there over the last few weeks, and at least once I arrived early enough to see a line there, maybe 15-20 ppl. I asked when I got inside, they said yep, every day there's a group of maybe 5-25 ppl, depending on if anything new was dropping that day. I said nope, I don't need anything _that_ badly, same with Fleabay, not feeding the scalpers.
As to what they could do better, I pretty much admitted that there wasn't many good options, email would be too slow if it was the same day, though maybe an advanced notice of a date and time could work, so what they're doing is the best of the options. I wasn't thinking about following his twitter page, duh. I can do that, though it honestly sounds pretty much like a crap shoot at this point, but again, is totally understandable considering the situation. Worst case, there's always next year when things hopefully get at least a little better in terms of supply vs demand. Thanks for the replies.

I think there is a touch of confusion here. The announcement for the next queue should come at least a day in advance of when the button goes live. You will have time to discover the announcement before having to engage in your F5 battle with everybody else. Again, good luck!

Duh...I’m saying since I’m waiting until 2021 I may end up waiting for the next chips. There is already talk of the 3080ti launching early 2021 anyhow. I wanted a GPU this year and since I have to wait I might just get a different card altogether.

Do you think that the next card will be out before 2022? If it's 18 months approx between releases, that would put it nearly mid year 2022. To each his own, of course, but I myself will be getting the as decent of one as possible of this gen, and plan on riding it hard for 2-3 years, hopefully more, as I don't plan on going 8k any time soon. lol

Ahh I see what you mean. I'd be very surprised if there was a 3080 Ti anytime soon considering they clearly haven't been able to meet demand of 3080 or 3090. I think a lot of the rumor / thinking of a 3080 Ti (or a 20GB version of a 3080) was based on the 4th sku in the leaked parts ahead of the announcement, which now looks like it was actually the 3060 Ti. If you have a card that does what you want for another gen then that makes sense but based on their current cadence I wouldn't expect that until late 2022. If you are going to wait thats also going to put you into a very transitional generation with PCIe 5 and DDR5 on the cusp of launching in 2022. The age old challenge of PC upgrading :)

Going by the cadence with the 20-series, I'd expect a Super refresh in H2'21 with some process optimization (8LPU) or possibly a move to Samsung's 7nm process (7LPP). I really don't see NVIDIA launching Hopper on a tighter cadence than they did with Turing especially considering demand is still massively out stripping supply and the launch of the RX6000 series cards does not seem to have significantly impacted demand. I also think with NVIDIA's focus on RT and DLSS, and the very weak RT performance from the RX6000 cards I don't think NVIDIA will be pressured to release another architecture quickly.
