It is not in stock at EVGA.  Therefore "not available" as I said.  You can add yourself to a list to be notified when they are in stock.  Or you you can try to find one in stock at one of the other retailers listed on the "Where to Buy" page.

The "Buy Now" button on the EVGA article is just a link to the EVGA store.  The article doesn't keep track of whether or not they are actually in stock.

I am confused because if you go to the product page, as you linked to me, there is no Buy, but there is a View Details. Clicking that takes me to another page, there you can Buy Now - takes me down to an anchor where all but the 72% are selectable... or is that just me?

None of the versions are selectable for me for some reason. But, if one is selectable for you and you want it, go ahead and try to buy it.

Your questions are getting kind of silly now. I can't tell you if you should buy it nor can I tell you the best place. Those are somewhat subjective questions. Be your own human.

thanks folks.
I wanted to draw on u guys experience with buying through EVGA, as I have not done so - so didnt know if it was a buy and get next day, or buy and wait until available - as I know they are limited stock.

Before I do do my human thing - how loud are the fans in games?
Yeah, its meant for overclocking, but its also a fast 2 slot air cooled card with quality components - so hopefully no coil whine, as well as the great performance.
As its a rare card, there are not many review to crossreference for sound level when under load.

Could you give me your impressions?

May I ask specifically why you chose the K|ngp|n? It costs way more and performs nearly the same as the classified, FTW and ssc in games, and costs significatly more.

The copper cooler does keep it lower, but if you watch the (and yes, I am going to say this) Linus Tech Tip video found below, you may reconsider spending a few extra dollars for the "higher price/factory overclock".

As for fan noise, there are videos on YouTube that will give you audible comparisons usually.

Lastly, overclock.net has the Evga Classified and Kingpin owner thread that is full of useful posts about using a ln2 based card on air. http://www.overclock.net/...19600_50#post_24647617

I am not trying to convince you to avoid paying the higher costs for a very beautiful card, but it is specifically designed to work and perform under subzero temps and reading reviews will provide you with a better idea. I would suggest scanning the last 10 to 20 pages.. yes.. actually go do it... and really read into this card before jumping onto it.

The reason why Kingpin - quality components - so hopefully no coil whine and low fan sound.
Thats my main want from a 980 ti.
Ideally, 2 slot wide card, so can use all 4 slots on the RvE mb.
Ive read about 3 weeks and 2-4 hrs per night min worth of forum posts and reviews for the system.
getting case labs s8 case, intel 5930, RvE, corsair 2400 32gb ram (I do dev and want headroom for the stuff ill be running), intel 750 ssd, corsair ax psu (run in its low use mode for quiet), noctua 15s air cooler, noctua case fans.
Aiming for a quiet fast PC.

So the card I want to match. Been reading about potential coil whine, and read it can be the Hz its running at, the FPS, the psu etc.
Looked at the PCBs of the card, comparing the inductors in use, the capacitors, the coolers with the heatpipes (the EVGA has pipes closer together in the fins so perhaps why it has slightly higher temps at idle). been looking into lots of aspects.

highend seems to bring in better components and less potential for coil whine and quieter fans. e.g. lightening has different power delivery. Havent seen a teardown on the kingpin. new giga xtreme vid on youtube sounds quiet, with coil whine only at 400+ fps. but, it is a 2.5 slot card.

I am all for going for one of the lower end cards, if I can get no annoying noise! :)

Coil whine can happen on any card, if the psu decides that it doesn't want to play nice. Your parts list looks pretty well thought out so far, which is really good.

One thing to consider I'm would be the hybrid, even thought they are difficult to find because they sell out so quick. It can run quiet and low temps as well but of course it doesn't have the same components as the K|ngp|n card does.

This video is great. 980 reference @ 1253MHz versus 980 FTW @ 1418. 2-3 fps difference.

At 4k. Below that would obviously give greater differences.

Yep, but the spread between the two would still be 2-3 fps in actual game play. Benchmarks are a different story.

Aye, manufacturing/ quality issue there.
Thanks :)

Aye, that was the one I had earmarked originally, good spot. Then I looked further into it just to see what other options there were. Seems the hybrid is significantly better than the seahawk - lower temps.
Still fancy air cooled.
Decisions decisions.
May be worth going for FTW and hoping that its ok coil whine wise.
Spending this evening looking for vids where I can hear the K|ngp|n. Found one, but was poor quality sound.

This was a vid of the giga, looking for similar. (13mins 32s)

Soooo, after 3 months of using the KPE on stock settings and aggressive fan profile, one died on me while playing Black Ops 3 campaign. Bummer... Submitted a support ticket. I hope I get this sorted before the holidays.

This also seriously concerns me considering reports of 980 Ti KPE dying for a lot of people and I surely hope this card is just an isolated case and that my other card would run perfectly for a long while...

It seems to mainly be happening with cards in SLI...maybe if your running more than one card you should seriously think about water cooling them as two cards on air is a bit much!!! Just a thought.

No way, a lot of people run SLI on air and I have done extensive work to get good airflow in my case. Plus it was the lower card that died, which is usually the coldest and least stressed when not doing SLI work.

I am referring to people on this very forum that have bought 3 way and even 4 way SLI Have had KingPin cards die while playing games. I'm no expert. It just appears that way! I'm not talking masses either just a few on this thread have had the same issue you have had.

Yeah when it works it's great! However it all depends on configuration in reality. Multi monitor setups SLI pays off big time. So it does have a good use! and for 4k gaming it's highly recommended.

So I received my RMA card, strangely enough, they managed to provide a 72% ASIC (which is strange considering that they claim it is out of stock). Now what really is strange about the RMA card is that despite being placed as the bottom card, it always has higher GPU usage than the top card (74% ASIC) by almost 10% which as a results, increases it's temperature to be higher than the top card by as much as 10C!!! I never had this issue before on my previous card which was also an ASIC 72%. Note that the card also clocks nicely and as expected. Could this be a driver issue? RMA the RMA? Otherwise, the card seems to be running fine.

If it is only temps, you could check the thermal paste and see how that is doing, or monitor the fans to make sure they are functioning properly.

Try refreshing your drivers and see if that helps as well.

The higher temperature is a result of abnormal higher GPU usage, which is the problem that I am stating in my previous message. So if my top GPU is running at say 70% usage, the bottom one runs at 80% which wasn't the case with my previous card.

Amazon has the 72 Asic on sale for $799 plus theres a $50 off amazon business promo code to make it 750 total final price. Know its late to the game but finally the price is reasonable.

Edit: Just got my Kingpin and ran GPU-Z and checked Asic score. Its reading at 75% !!! Even though I bought 72% !! Wow!!

Unbelievable deal!!

Hey Guys!!

Quick question, I just got mine last week and I have been trying to work with it, so far I have been able to overclock it at +60 with 1.212 v LN2 profile, I am water cooling, the card stays at 36 C tops while in 3d mare firestorm. My question, when I tried to increase voltage, (overboost voltage option) and set it at lets say 1.218 or 1.213 , when I run the test, I noticed that the volts drop to 1.19 ~ which will crash the drivers.

Is there a way to make the volts be 1.225 constant?  I have activated the 2 dip switches on the side of the card.

Thanks for your help.

I am using Precision X 16.
Windows 10 x64
I7 4970k
32 gb RAM 1600hz
SSD

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,

I know everyone has moved on to getting 2080s but dusted off my 980 Ti Kpes and put them under water to see what performance I could squeze out of them but hit a wall. Firstly let me say I have two cards in Sli with 75 and 76.5 Asic scores. My water cooled temps are amazing. 35-40 degrees under Furmark. Cold winter day temps peak at 37 degrees. Anyhow cant get them stable beyond 1506 for 24/7 operation. 1520-1540 iffy and 1550 locks up the drivers fast. At 1212mv at 1506 and went up to 1281 mv with no luck. Its like these beastly cards have a small something in there. Am I safe to feed 1300+ mv to them or will it even matter?

Also been reading the past pages on this thread and barely anyone talked about voltages and overclock settings that worked for them. Not even talked about the dip switches on this card and how they affect overclocking on such a unique card. Unbelievable!

Thanks

I retired all my GTX 9xx cards and Below.
But I plan on having my GTX 1080 Ti K|NGP|N(s) for another 4 or 5 years. Under Driver 391.35 as any 4xx.xx Drivers are just crap.
Being under Water I see that Happening and I think you will see your GTX 980 Ti K|NGP|N will keep you happy under water as well.

I didn’t create a new thread because it fit under the subject title of this thread and wanted to hit up past users for their experiences. Think I’m still going to use them on some of the older games I have yet to finish for another year and ready to put them through some abuse considering they are EOL. Thanks.
