I am trying to set this card up on my PC and have a problem. I have a modular Corsair 650HX PS that has one available 6-Pin out slot and four 4-pin slots. I have three spare Corsair 6-pin, split to dual 6-pins cords. The VC came with an 8-pin to VC that splits to two 6-pin cords. The Corsair split 6-pin plug does not match with the EVGA split 6-pin, and the instructions say there are two different 6-pin plugs, but only one works with this card...I must have the other kind. Local computer store (only one here) gave me the deer in the headlights stare and could not help. Looking at the EVGA adapter, I see one of the 6-pin plugs has an open slot (no wire). I am looking for help on where I can find a cord that will match up to the EVGA adapter and then match up to my Corsair power supple. Any help is appreciated.

If you only have the one GPU, you should not need any adapters. Your PSU came with 2 pcie plugs. Each will have 6/8 pin connectors. If your card needs 6, you just move 2 pin portion off to the side. If you need 8, then put the 6 together with the 2 to make up a 8 pin connector. I think they are even colored blue so you'd know what they are. Maybe even have PCIe written on them??

On your 6 pin cables from your psu, are they only 6 pins, or are they 6+2 pin connectors? If the latter, you can use those for the 8pin connector. The adapter that came with the card is optional, and is not necessary if you have the cables. I don't see a reason why your 6 pin cables would not work in the adapters or cards.

I have extra cables from 2 different Corsair PS, and three sets of 6-pin to PS that split to two 6-pin adapters (no 6/2 ends). These 6-pin cords will not plug into the EVGA adapter...the plug lock is centered on the EVGA and off set on the Corsair plug. I have found on Amazon a 6-pin to 8-pin direct, but it is only 8 inches long...then I found an 8 inch extension (I need at least 12" with my case configuration)...so that is probably the way I will go. I was not aware that there are two separate types of 6-pin connectors and they are not interchangeable either.

What happened to the one's that came with the power supply? The one's in the pic I attached.

Here is a pic of the back of a Corsair HX650 PSU. Is this the 1 you have? The 2 blue 8 pin plugs are for your 2 pciE cables. Blue plugs into blue. The other ends have the 6/8 plugs for the physical GPU.

I won't be able to get back to my PC until late tonight. Neither Corsair PS came with color coded plugs, just black and black (no Blue). The only 8-pin I had went to the MoBo.

The Corsair 6-pin will not mate to the EVGA adapter. Looking close to the EVGA adapter, it has an 8-pin that plugs into the VC, then it splits to two 6-pin plugs...one of them has five wires to the back and the other has six wires. The locking clip has to be in the middle, while the Corsair is off set. They do not match and will not plug into each other.

Hmm that's odd. I don't think I ever saw a 650W PSU that didn't come with at least 2 pciE cables, even if they are black. Really sorry then Roger...I don't know what other help I can be...

What cable did you use for your CPU? Was it a hardwired cable or a modular cable?

As they're fully modular cables, the only thing that came to my mind was to get another compatible set of modular cables with your PSU (particularly another different corsair model).

The 650HX comes with 4 PCI-E connectors. It maybe slightly underpowered for a GTX680, but pretty sure it will connect to any card out there without any adapters. Hell, you could likely run SLI if it had more jam. EDIT: Looked up your PSU and looked a little closer. To power a GTX680 with it, it looks as though you must use both modular PCI-E cables to power one card. I couldnt find any pictures of the cables/plugs.

That power supply has at least 2 6+2 pin connectors. You attach the the skinny 2 pin to the side of the 6pin, and plug it in as if it was an 8pin. The adapters should not be needed.

I have done this before and am aware of it...it is just none of my cables are 6/2. I have sent Corsair an eMail asking if they can sell me one or the direct 6-pin to PS and 8-pin to VC. Hope to hear from them today.

Neither had 6-pin to 8-pin extra cords either. I was able to find a 6-pin to duel 6/2-pin and my card is up and running!!! I have an immediate 10C drop in temp from my old card just running Windows!!! Problem Resolved! Thanks for everyone's help.
