I'm quite pleased there is no stupid 5.25" bay getting in the way of that fantastic quad radiator grill.
VR "bays" be damned, just plug it in on the other side. There is no inconvenient "in the back" on this thing.
And to put one in, solely for that.. And I doubt any serious PC user still bothers with plastic discs (im no console peasant!).

I joined the contest, but in all honesty they could call it 'EVGA Casy Mc. Caseface' and id still want to buy it.
I'm more interested in price, specs and release date. So howbout it, EVGA?

No one said it needs to be in the radiator area, can go on the bottom in the "front" of the case.
I have too many old games and media on disk, not to have a disk drive.
Also like to back up my movies to disk.
Its all about preference, but still.. If your going to announce a 5.25" drive bay VR kit with a 980, you might want to make sure your new case has a bay for it to go into.
Otherwise you force your customers to either not buy this 980vr edition, or not buy this case.
Or, find another solution..  I.E. not something from EVGA.

I think this case could be a game changer.
I also think omitting a common item on any case can drive customers to something else. I mean if it has it, doesnt mean you have to use it, If its not there, and you need it...you wont buy it.

One cheap-as-beans USB3 drive would eliminate your need to keep movies and old games on plastic disks.
I just bought a 20 dollar docking station and use it to recycle my old HDDs as archive drives.
Only reason I see for needing a disk writer, is to pirate console games or something.
I'm a heavy user, but I haven't had the need for a 5.25" device for over a decade now.
The 5.25" bay is going the way of the old 3.5" floppybay. ;)

I dont understand the point of that VR bay, Its kinda pointless, atleast with the Vive it is, since that one already comes with a hub.
That VR-edition card seems to be for people who dont have/want EVGAs new case and dont have a Vive.
Also, EVGA has hadron cases, those things have bays I think, so they have that option if they want.

I just want this new case, clean cut without a bunch of (imho) useless frills.

I'm sick and tired of waiting. I'll just keep my Stryker case. It looks fine to me.

Like i said, its preferrence... because you dont need it, doesnt mean its not needed by others.
Stupid frills... you mean like a quad radiator ?

The VR Bay, is for people that may want a different VR device besides the Vive.
I mean there are only about 30(conservative estimate) different brands out there, and im sure that number grows daily.

My point is, you want to sell it ?   dont add something to your product, and remove what makes that product work with your next product.

I like the case, but cant stand the vents on the side... make it all window.
Why is it sitting on 2x2 blocks ?
P.S. (Black is better)
I wanted on of the Trooper cases..  if thats the correct name.

Can i get better pic of the front of your case ?

I have a Blu-ray drive, i need it because thanks to government sellouts, were not allowed to backup movies we buy if it has DRM on it.  Google play store and other streaming sites, they want full price for a movie. That's crazy for digital copies. Anyone that likes to use a fan controller, they need a 5.25 bay for it. The hadron case you can't fit a full size motherboard in it, also evga cut corners on it by not painting the whole inside of it like all the other case mfg do.

SlimshiestyLike i said, its preferrence... because you dont need it, doesnt mean its not needed by others.

Im willing to bet that the amount of people who need it is smaller than the amount that dont care for it.

SlimshiestyStupid frills... you mean like a quad radiator ?

If you think a PC being nearly inaudible at full load is a stupid frill..
Silencing the machine is pretty much the whole point of watercooling.

SlimshiestyThe VR Bay, is for people that may want a different VR device besides the Vive.
I mean there are only about 30(conservative estimate) different brands out there, and im sure that number grows daily.

Like what, the oculus? Apart from that, there aren't any out there worth mentioning.

SlimshiestyMy point is, you want to sell it ?   dont add something to your product, and remove what makes that product work with your next product.

EVGA is selling 400 watt PSUs too, good luck running that VR edition, or any 980 for that matter.
Just because its not compatible with everything else they have, doesnt mean its a bad product to offer.
For example; I wouldn't want frenchfries in my icecream either, but im glad burgerking is selling both.

Zuhl3156I'm sick and tired of waiting. I'll just keep my Stryker case. It looks fine to me.

That stryker seems to have grown a bit of a tumor on the back there. :')

Netflix wants full price? News to me. I do agree DRM on movies is bull**** though.

MSimAnyone that likes to use a fan controller, they need a 5.25 bay for it.

Its already got a pretty obvious fan controller, and apparently the fancy version will have full on touchscreen fancontrol.
But aside from that point, most motherboards now offer a smarter way to control fans anyway, so why bother.

MSimThe hadron case you can't fit a full size motherboard in it, also evga cut corners on it by not painting the whole inside of it like all the other case mfg do.

I didnt say it was a good alternative, but its there if need be.

Re: EVGA Gaming (name pending) Tower. 2016/05/02 08:14:26 (permalink)
My guess is the fan controller in evga case will only work for the fans it comes with. All the videos i have seen, the built in fan controller only has two controls for  Intake speed and one for excuse speed. It doesn't have different channels to control other fans.  I don't know anyone that uses motherboard to control radiator fans. People like to have them on a fan controller so they can reduce fan noise when the system not being used to play games or run benchmark software to help overclock the system.

Maybe the $299 version of evga case will give you extra fan controller channels.  Will have to wait and see once evga releases more details about the different version of the case.

The basic one only has 2 fan channels, but I imagine the fancy version will have more channels. (where did you get '$299' from though?)
Regardless of that, I will be using the 7 port fan controller already built into my asus formula motherboard,
along with software that will let me set any fan speed curve, coupled to any of its 4 onboard + 2 extra external temp probes.
If I let water temp dictate fan speed, it could potentially run extremely quiet in desktop mode, if I can fit a 480 and a 360 rad in there.
Fan controllers mostly require you to fiddle with it manually, making you constantly have to keep an eye on temps yourself.
I prefer it automatic and with minimal extra wire crud inside.

Yeah, me too. I also feel I am entitled to damages for undue stress, inhumane treatment, failing to fulfill a promise leading to bouts of depression resulting in continuing therapy sessions.

^^ this, so freaking much.

With nvidia recently pooping out new GPU candy, and intel about to give us their newest cookie,
im really starting to fondle that ejection seat handle on the EVGA case, guys.
I wanna get in on all that, but im gonna need a pretty box.
If not EVGA, then something else.

For me its even more crucial for EVGA to cough up that case,
as I pretty much designed my entire room renovation around it..

I NEED that sideways computercase, EVGA..

As much as I would also like to see one of these sitting here next to me I am afraid it is stuck in EVGA Limbo and we might not see it in our lifetime. I am leaning towards a InWin GRone White case. It seems to be roomy and it suits my taste in white cases and fulfills my current needs. Unless this is ready to hit the market in the next month or so I see no reason to delay my next project waiting for it.

The main attraction for this case for me is the fact that its meant to sit sideways.
I dont know of any other customizable cases that look good sitting sideways with a 'rear' cover.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I looked at this which looks good sitting sideways but the price is too steep for me: http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16811108478

Having the I/O plate exposed like that doesn't look good and tidy at all, in my opinion.
With the EVGA case you dont have to look at any of it, the door nicely hides all the I/O ports,
and I wanted to bundle my cables into an umbilical cord using spinal tubes to get the it the rest of the way.

The covered back end is where EVGA's case really shines, and it is what made me want this case so bad in the first place.
Take that away and you just have an ordinary case with a basement and an ugly back end, like so many others.

If there is another case that looks this tidy on the back side, I havent heard about it.
