If one bye an gfx you expect the Card to perform according to what testsites gets of results in benchmarking and game performance. You dont expect that you should overclock the Card to recive the performance others get, whitout tuning the Card. Secondly I Looses the opportunity to overclock the Card, and get an expected higher result... :-( Btw. GFX is NOT bottlenecked. CPU is 4960X and PSU is Corsair RM850, Asus Rampage IV, 8GB Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz.

What im saying is that the reviews may have done the benches OC'd.

Youll have to contact EVGA. You might already have it on the card which was the case with me.

Just download the bios, open the file and click yes when it asks if you want to install. EVGA makes the file extremely user friendly. It takes about 1 minute after download.

No, they are DC fans, so they can not be lowered any more, unfortunately.

You can do a full OC on this card and lock the fan at 42%. The heatsink and fans are overkill.

I was thinking about that too. Then I would not need AB or PX16 to adjust the fan, only adjust power limit instead.

I previously got hold of the firmware update off EVGA and installed it hoping it would solve the fan issues. What actually happened was while the fans stopped spinning at low temps, whenever they were stationary I could hear a constant whirring/clicking noise. It genuinely sounded like a very small person with a very small jack hammer constantly drilling. The only way I could get rid of this clicking noise was to open up Precision X and turn the fan % up until both fans were spinning normally, at which point I was back at square one. So I was stuck with stationary fans and an awful clicking noise, or two spinning fans with their associated noise. With up to 50% fan speed setting 1 fan would spin, but the 2nd fan would remain stationary and continue to produce the clicking noise, and it was only with a setting above 50% that both fans would spin and the clicking noise would stop. I then managed to get hold of the original .50 BIOS from EVGA but after multiple attempts to flash it the .53 BIOS remained. My only option was to either live with it or attempt an RMA, and EVGA agreed to an Advanced RMA, which I was very grateful of. I had hoped EVGA would send me a fresh card with the latest BIOS installed, but on receipt of my new card I realised they had sent me an original version with the .50 BIOS on, which was a bit of a bummer. I did email them asking if they inspected my old card for the clicking sound, but no real comment was made on that. They did advise me to update the BIOS again though, but make a backup of the old BIOS to rollback to if I encountered the same problem. While I want to attempt installing the .53 BIOS again I really don't want to go through all the hassle of an RMA again (even if they would agree to it for a second time), but it really would be nice if the fans would stop spinning when my card is sitting at 25 degrees C. So, has anyone else experienced this same "tiny jack hammer" noise after updating to the .53 BIOS, or does anyone know why fans would make this clicking noise when being "forced" to idle? Is the process of rolling back to a previous firmware you have saved from CPU-Z as simple as using NVFLASH or is there more to it (various other programs you need to install etc.)? I love the card and my system, but the fans are a bit of a pain when the GPU is under barely any load. Thanks

Well, EVGA responded to my ticket super quickly like normal, great customer support. Still same problem when I update to BIOS .53 though, a constant clicking noise when the fans are idle which is way more noticeable than the fans spinning at idle. Maybe it is because of my tiny mini-ITX case, the GPU sits right next to the side of the case, if I had a bigger case with the GPU hidden away inside among many fans maybe it wouldn't be noticeable. It's not so bad for me to have the fans constantly spinning as intake fans anyway, since my case only has 1 fan.

Well after a little research it seems this "ticking" noise is due to undervolting the fans, which I can only presume the .53 is doing to stop the fans from spinning.
I'm sure EVGA will know about this but didn't want to say.
Well I'll certainly be doing much thorough research into the next GPU I buy.
If the "newer" models have been completely fixed and there is no ticking whatsoever when the fans are stationary then I don't know why they didn't just send me this version after the RMA.

The reason why they ship with the older BIOS is that the newer one is UEFI compatible only while the older is BIOS only. Most if not all UEFI boards are backwards compatible to BIOS but BIOS is not forwards compatible. I never had any clicking and actually locked the fan to its lowest speed because in a well ventilated case you can get max OC and still get decent temps. The card really needs fans like half the speed they are.
