evga has let us down here by the looks. I just ordered one of these for my htpc assuming it would be quiet, like my gtx 680 with similar cooler. Anyone done any modding to sort this? low voltage mod on fan at the hardware level or just plane replaced the cooler?

I've worked with 2 750ti's and a regular 750 and I have not had any fan noise issues. Even overclocked the Ti's. Maybe replace it and see if that helps.

Case- NZXT Phantom w/2x200mm 2x140mm 2x120mm fans
Mobo- m5a99fx pro r2.0
Ram- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB
CPU- FX-8350 cooled with H80i with Noctua NF-F12 fans
GPU- 2x EVGA 780 GTX FTW
PSU  EVGA 1000w G2
I play on a 3D 1080p Optoma on a 135" screen.

Have you received the card?  I assume you aren't going to sit with your ear next to the HTPC, so I am not even sure what you are talking about at this point, as the people that complain seem to have their cards on open test benches right next to their head.  Even reviewers stated that it made a whoosh noise on their test bench, but once placed inside of a case wasn't bad.  Judge your card when it is in your build, not off of someone else's forum post if you haven't received it.

If you read back to some of my posts I go over the issue thoroughly. If you're wondering the card can achieve its max OC with the fan locked to 42%, which is as low is it can go. Silence is relative but it at 42% isnt even quiet. This is why I personally went to the 960 since those fans will just stay off until 60C. It also has a couple other benefits for HTPC usage.

I just think we should have the ability to turn the fans down if we want like with other gpus

you can, Its just that the minimum is 42% since its voltage controlled. This is the minimum on any voltage controlled Nvidia GPU.

You can call or email EVGA's tech support. Supply them with your serial number and they can email you the VBIOS.

Best advice, get a 950 or 960 for nearly the exact same price. Their fans don't turn on until under heavy load anyway.

gtx 950 is within my range of price if I buy it through EVGA... unfortunately, Im in italy... EVGA doesn't ship items here... My Choice is to by from amazon, eprice or ebay for 200+eu...
Thanks for the recommendation... If i'll be getting 960 or 950, will my Proc and MB handle it... I might get bottlenecked...
